Blanc Gallery feels like it was transplanted from NYC. It’s tucked away in a non-​descript building but opens into an intriguing, versatile space. Boston has a lot of conservative galleries (think Newbury St) and not nearly enough spaces for producing edgier, more experimental and boundary-​pushing work. The work presented here is also surprisingly affordable so that’s a plus too!
The show I went to last night had a wide range of work from a number of artists organized around the idea of «the written word». They reworked the space to get the experience right, which apparently they do for lots of their shows (add/​remove walls, repaint, etc.). I’ll definitely be back to see future exhibits (and after-​parties).
