The foods good, the employers aren’t. They were not very nice and enjoyed dissing customers in Spanish.

I’m not sure if this food is authentic but that isn’t my benchmark. For my taste buds, the food was delicious. The half chicken is an incredible value. The enchiladas are freshly made. The burritos aren’t the best(using Chipotle as a benchmark) but they are good. I wish I could wave a magic wand and replicate 100 of these across the United States.

I am writing this review solely out of spite for another review I read below that said that they were not greeted as they entered or left. How could someone possibly miss the point with this place more? I have to ask if you would also be upset if the waiter at the TGI Fridays did not offer you satisfactory wine pairings? For one thing most of the employees do not speak english as their first language. This is a place you go to to get a quick and good burrito. It is not as good as some more expensive places but it is a great baseline for quick Mexican food in the Boston area. I have come here for years and i have had almost always had good experiences. There was one time when I knew they charged me for a Burrito Grande when I ordered a regular and I argued with the man who spoke little english. Looking back I am ashamed of myself. For 7 dollars you can basically get a food torpedo that is packed with more food than one should probably eat in one sitting. What more do we want? Eat the Burrito and be happy.

Is it possible to destroy the comfort of nachos? Sadly, yes, as I learned after my visit here today. I went into the restaurant, asked what was on the nachos, and was told: cheese, beans, meat, salsa. Okay, great. But I knew things were not off to a good start when they dumped chips into a plastic bowl, sprinkled some shredded cheese(clearly not covering all the chips), and popped the creation into the microwave… After adding beef, lettuce, and guacamole, the price tag jumped up $ 5. Turns out the meat was not included, contrary to my very first question! The miscommunications continued for another 5 min or so(Spanish language skills would have helped), and by the time I left the restaurant with my to-go order, I was grumpy and my microwaved nachos were looking a little limp. How’d they taste? Not much better than they looked. I realize that with an extra 10 minutes, I could have walked to the supermarket and made my own nachos(in the oven!). Overall verdict: Won’t be passing by here again.

I love a boca buritto. I’ve been coming here for years as a friday lunch tradition. I usually go with a burrito grande with guac. Chicken Colorado, chili verde, chorizo., jalapeños on request. Great carmitas tamales. Try the tocos al pastor. Not to mention buy 10 burritos, and the next one is free :) Great quick lunch or dinner.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have more stars. It’s authentic, it’s affordable, and it’s easy.

I was in Cambridge area and I was in the Mood for tamales so went on Unilocal and searched for tamales and this place was on the top of the list. I got here and they didn’t have tamales :(so got a burrito, It was tasty but expected more from this place. Poor customer service, no one greeted me on the way in or way out, I got the typical«can I help you«.

This must’ve been the worst burrito I’ve had in a while. I had BBQ steak, it was stringily and chewy. And the whole thing had no flavor at all. Plus, the staff can’t really be called friendly. Nope. Avoiding this one in the future.

They have fountain Cherry Coke and are a good place for dining alone. That’s really all I can sell you on. The burritos aren’t bad, but eating them isn’t like talking to god.

For a quick burrito, you can’t beat this place, love the flavones. Veggie grande burrito or carnitas are the best. Also fiat tamales are really great too.

Customer service was not great. I asked for a BURRITO and ended up with some sort of chicken platter. I decided that wasn’t that big of a deal and took it even though I was slightly annoyed. The food is kind of bland. The salsa is good and fresh but that’s really the only good thing I can say about this place. The chicken doesn’t seem to be good quality and isn’t cooked well. I won’t be returning.

Went back because I had a hankering for some chips, salsa, and guac. It was good! The chips were fresh and so was the salsa and guac. A bit too much cilantro for my taste. I know what people mean when they say cilantro tastes soapy. It did taste a bit soapy. I was thinking of trying the pozole. Maybe next time, I didn’t really feel like hanging out in there though. The drink options could be a bit better. Typical fountain soda and I did not care for their Jamaica drink(which I diluted with like 90% of the really super sweet lemonade). Decent place, though.

Terrible… Do not come here! This place is as low as it gets. Nobody speaks english. Yes I know it’s a Mexican taco place but they aren’t the owners. Make sure you specify EXACTLY what you want because the incompetent staff has no idea what they are doing. I stood there for a good 10 minutes while the staff was taking care of 1 order. How many ppl does it take to make 1 burrito? There is a place down the st that serves way better food and at least knows how to interact with a customer… I highly suggest you go there…

I work around the corner and have tried several meats in several forms(burritos, plates, quesadillas, etc.). They’re all less than stellar. The only way I could forgive the lack of flavor was by drenching everything in hot sauce. But this only made things spicy, not tasty. Eventually, the tamales became the only things I would order. They were filling, affordable, and separated Boca from other(better) taquerias in both Porter and Harvard. Now, unfortunately, they are GONE. Crossed off the menu forever :(Coupled with the recent price increases, I don’t see myself going back. PS. Be explicit with what you don’t want on your meal. They’re quick to throw on the guac and sour cream, which cost extra.

TOFUBURRITOS!!! Very delicious! The tortilla is perfectly stretchy, warm, and just great. The whole general flavor was wholesome and somewhat subtle. The tofu was marinated with some cool seasoning. The woman who rang me up was also super friendly. I will definitely return.

When Southerners first move to Boston they search high and low for that Tex-Mex restaurant with free chips, queso, salsa and tortillas till the day they leave. If someone finds it, please let me know. As a Mexican, I tend to lean more towards the authentic experience and Boca Grande is it. You must get a tamale, it is amazing. Even my mother who makes homemade tamales on a weekly basis agreed it was better than hers. I also get tacos and the pozole soup, which never disappoint. If you like trying something new, get the pozole soup there. It’s a hearty dish of hominy and pieces of pork. I absolutely will miss this place. It’s not a fancy sit-down place — you gotta come here for a good quick bite to eat.

Ultimate fail! I ordered the smallest burrito which should be $ 5.25. I have a specialty diet and I asked for half the amount of cheese half the amount of rice half the amount of beans half the amount of chicken. The fellow made it perfect… a nice tiny burrito. But at the register they charged me seven dollars! Seven dollars for the tiniest burrito. I complained And the woman behind the counter played, «I don’t speak English and can’t communicate. «Bull crap. But… I speak enough Spanish to communicate. Then she just spoke dumbass, rude and terrible. I showed her how small the order actually was and the fella making it agreed with me, but she just absolutely sucked. Terrible. Ultimate fail. Will never go back

If you’re ordering the $ 4.95 special, call it «the special» instead of its menu name. I was misheard three times and uncharged for an item I didn’t want. Good thing that substantial item was mediocre, otherwise I’d have been pissier than puppy on a new carpet. Wait a minute. You’ve seen the process before: a large flour tortilla is steamed, then stuffed with rice, beans, and non-bean protein and some other stuff depending on whatever you obviously unintelligibly ordered. Wrapped, foiled and sent packing. On this day(a Wednesday, when all burrito specials transpire), ’twas the Carnitas Verde, braised pork in a spicy green sauce with fixins for five bones. When asked, I replied«A Carnitas Verde burrito, please.» He began, and just prior to wrapping I inquired, «Is that the Carnitas Verde? There’s no sauce,» to which he muttered, «Oh. Yeah. Okay.» Squirted with salsa verde, and slid to the cashier. She rang up a $ 6.95 and asked if I wanted a drink. «No thanks. Also, I got the special — a Carnitas Verde burrito.» She looked at him, he said«No, you got carnitas.» I pushed back, noting I repeated it twice. «No, it’s different,» he said. «You should have said ‘the special’.» MAYHEM! ANARCHY! Look, I’ve gone into a TCBY and ordered pork chops before, so I’ll bow out when I could have been mistaken. I wasn’t, though, and the only thing that’s bumping this you-can-easily-find-better taqueria from 2 to 2.5 is because they did the right thing and only charged $ 5. But not without a hefty dose of reluctance, and twice the number of crabby. Sorry I cheated on you Anna’s. Never again.

Why does this place only have three stars? Another testifying evidence that Boston Unilocal reviews aren’t too reliable… I would give this place five stars over and over. I am addicted to their tamales! I didn’t even know what they were before but once I tasted BG’s tamales, they became a regular part of my weekday takeout dinner. I always get the one with tomatoes and chicken. I love digging inside the corn sheath(??) for more. Also the sour cream is phenomenal. I feel like they’re homemade or something because they taste really fresh and different from the ones bought at a store. I’ve tried their big plates too. Portions are huge and very delicious! They come with lots of rice, black beans, meat, salsa, etc. Oh and can’t leave this out — price is very affordable! I believe, if I remember correctly, tamales and these big plates have the same price and it’s less than $ 8(including tax). All my friends to whom I’ve harped about this place, have also become regulars here :) Oh! And their sitting area is huge.
