I never would have thought that a tiny Mexican/Peruvian restaurant would get such a divided public. I think people are playing with the star ratings: they give 5 because they want to help the restaurant or they give 1 because they didn’t like their meal. I don’t eat out that often because I have a food allergy. But I think that makes me a better critic than most because I care a lot about the food ingredients and quality. I also make beans and rice often for myself. So, one night I was stuck in Porter Square with some friends and we needed to find a good food place where we could all eat. I’m glad we chose the Aguacate Verde. I just got black beans and rice so I wasn’t expecting much, but it was delicious. I asked the cook and she said that she only used simple ingredients. I won’t post her recipe online. But I’m a picky eater and can say that it was 100% natural. The quality of the food comes from the quality of the ingredients and the skills of the cook. To summarize: if you want convenient, healthy, quick, and tasty food to eat, the Aguacate Verde is an excellent choice. The BEST black beans and rice I’ve ever had.
