Horrible deli meats! They used to carry Boar’s Head brand. I JUST bought a pound of the replacement brand turkey and its gray, gelatinous and tasteless! Had to throw it out because it stank.

Pretty pricey, but the food is good and the hours are spectacular. Their ready-made and made-to-order sandwiches are both very good and usually have a TON of meat. That being said, the price is quite high, but their aren’t many(if any) comparable delis nearby. Small seating area for a quick bite to eat. Wide selection of meats, cheeses, fresh fruits, and assorted foreign foodstuffs. My only complaint is the very high prices.

$ 5.95 for a small container of grapes??? I get it. They’re not in season, but come on, it’s Passover, and I can’t get any of the sandwiches. This apple is okay, I guess. I don’t know. It’s giving me reflux. Is it cute to tell someone that you puked a little in your mouth or should I stop telling everyone that? I’m thinking about gorillas now. My friend just told me that he would forgo sex for a week for the Grand Canyon sandwich(avocado, bacon, mozzarella, Russian dressing, cucumber). Dam, not kosher for Passover.

I work down the street and am here almost every day. The staff are always nice and helpful. Service is quick and consistent, and the food is great. The buffet is great if you’re in a hurry. The deli has plenty of great options, and they’re always happy to make something that isn’t on the menu.(The Reuben is fantastic.)

As a Harvard student who has pretty much tried everything the Square has to offer, I can confidently say that you will find the best sandwiches at the Market, bar none. I come here at least once, sometimes twice, sometimes three times per week and always head straight for the deli. FRESH ingredients, friendly service. Get the Grand Canyon. Trust me, best sandwich I’ve ever had. Chicken, thick bacon, sliced avocado, melted mozzarella, tomato, cucumber, with a hearty drizzle of thousand island. 11⁄10.

The«California Wrap», with turkey, roasted red peppers, and horseradish, was frikin awesome, even at $ 7.50. Many other worthy choices on the board that I would try. Spacious place, you won’t be huddled in a little crowd waiting for them to make it for you. Good location on the corner of Church and Brattle.

Only rating based on their salad bar and hot bar. The food is pretty decent and there are good vegan and vegetarian options. It’s not Whole Foods, but it’s good.

Love this place! Great hot food bar w/tons of goodies particularly well-suited for vegetarians(though they do have meat dishes available as well). Mac ‘n cheese, spinach pie, lots of veggies, tofu dishes, etc. YUM. There’s a great selection of SUPER fresh looking sushi here as well, plus a full blown deli in the back(bonus points for Boar’s Head!). I only tried the hot ready-made food but will most definitely be returning to try each of these! They also offer a serious selection of specialty snacks and products, though I do warn they are PRICEY(Del Cecco pasta for example, is $ 4.25/box compared to $ 2.50-$ 3.00 at regular grocery stores: NTY!). Last, but not least, you will be tempted by the most delicious looking bakery case right beside the registers. I am not exaggerating when I say that literally everything in there looked PERFECT. As of my first visit, I am totally sold on this place and can’t imagine not coming back again soon! :) Big kudos to the folks responsible!

I really like this place. Because let’s face it: if you live or work in the Cambridge area, there are times where you just need a place to have a quick, cheap meal on the go/kill some time/sit and work/pick up some snacks. Market in the Square covers all of those options. They have a deli with hot and cold items, a sandwich counter, as well as pre-packaged sandwiches, wraps, and salads, and a small grocery area. It’s not exactly gourmet food, but it does the job in a pinch, and some of the novelty items(candy, snacks, etc.) are neat. Plus it’s usually possible to get a seat here. It’s usually squeaky clean in here, too, which is a plus. This is a very good option if you’re in the market for a meal under $ 10 in Harvard Square.

(I can only comment on the deli) DefinItely a great place to go for some of the best sandwiches around. I had the pastrami Reuben last night and I must say it’s one of the best I’ve had in quite some time. I was impressed by the cooks. As chaoitic as it was, they are on top of things and courteous. The only drawback to this place is that it’s a free-for-all when it comes to ordering. If they set up an actual line, or some sort of ordering system I think things would run a lot more efficiently.

I love this place, and only for the buffet food. Such good memories of running in here when it’s freezing outside and there’s snow piling up. grabbing some food for the buffet and sitting a while. I love being able to pick exactly what I eat, even if it is terribly expensive(minus one star for that)

The manager is such a nice and loving person. This shop donated for our fund raising event for a child who does not have money for surgery

wanted to try the sandwiches here for a while, today I got the chance. I agree with the pricey comments the but when it comes to boars head cold cuts and the portion I received I really cant complain. I got a cracked pepper turkey and swiss with everything. thing was huge and not with toppings but mostly turkey. I only put down half of it and then gave the other have to a homeless buy outside. so that made me eel like I did a good deed for the day. so to wrap it up…(get it) id definitely go back

Pretty awesome place and one of the few that will still be open at an ungodly hour if you’re craving for something to munch on. I had some sushi at 3am and it was decent enough and there is a ton of European cookies and chocolates that are worth getting for those who miss home.

I picked up groceries here today because I was in a rush. I’ll definitely avoid going back for groceries if I can because: — The items were incredibly overpriced — I came home to find the eggs I bought were frozen through and half of them were broken and stuck to the carton as a result. I went back to return the eggs and the staff person didn’t seem surprised or at all apologetic about the eggs being broken/frozen. I imagine this place might be fine for sandwiches/hot food to order — that seems like their focus.

I was roaming around Harvard sq. one evening after work looking for something light to nibble on for dinner & remembered that this place was on the corner waiting for me to enter. I loved the selection of non meat from the hot foods bar and the tofu was seasoned very well. They have a sandwich station and fresh sushi too. I took my food to go but next time I’ll probably sit, eat and read a book when I have more time to relax. There’s a nice atmosphere and it is brightly lit with natural sunlight provided by the many windows. It’s also great for people watching and getting new outfit ideas from the stylish women passing through. Sometimes certain eateries in Harvard sq. come off as pretentious, but this place doesn’t and that’s what I like most about it.

Hot buffet was a nice change at lunch time. It was, in fact, VERY costly. The meatloaf was NOTEDIBLE(someone had poured an entire box of Morton’s in while cooking, perhaps as practice for a Halloween trick), but the teriyaki chicken and macaroni and cheese were surprisingly, really good. Enjoyed the rare blend of bottled lemonade I was able to find here that I hadn’t seen anywhere else. Not sure how much I paid for it, but I think it was around $ 2.50 or so for the bottle. Counter staff wasn’t all that friendly. Not rude. Just not friendly. I’d go back at lunch for the hot buffet if I were in the area and had some extra change.

Yes, it’s expensive. But it’s open 24 hours and has a good selection of food to choose from. Their food bar(hot and cold) is also good, if a bit pricey.

Definitely pricey but good if you’re going for a quick, warm, pre-made lunch dish or a surprisingly gourmet selection of cookies. The prices are definitely high. Not ideal as your go to lunch spot, I’d say. Really nice cashiers, though — like, notably nice.
