Crooks! I stopped by here recently, my card wouldn’t work at the pump, so I tried another, no luck. I went inside, the guy asked me how much gas I was getting. I told him I don’t know, so he says just pick an amount and we’ll credit you the balance. So I guess $ 25 because I’m getting a credit so I want to be safe. Guess what, my guess was 19.98 and I never got the credit. And guess what, they aren’t going to be getting me. But I bet they do pretty well ripping people off! I am going to report them.

Tell me, to the penny, how much it takes to fill your tank? Don’t overestimate — you’ll top off and lose the difference. Don’t undershoot, lest you suffer the curse of the sub-F needlepoint. Why, you ask? None of the four pumps I tried accepted my credit card for payment. An inside visit, per the request of the truncated on-screen error message, yielded a clueless response from the attendant, who simply insisted over and over that I pre-pay. The paradox of the full tank would have driven a weaker man mad. Thankfully, I’m strong like bull. A mathematically savvy bull that can give pretty good estimate on mid-grade voluminous approximation. It’s a gas station. In the year 2011. Fix the pumps.

A few years ago this was the only place in the area open 24 hours a day and MIT kids would flock here to get their late night soda and chips. With the opening of the 7 – 11 and the 24 hour La Verde’s these days are now more but it is still very conveniently located on Mass Ave.
