Great place great food! Needs new management, a place like this should be ran much better. Need more staff on hand. They are working the employees so hard it’s hard for them to be the best they can be.

I love this diner so much. Whenever I come to Boston I try as hard as possible to come here! It has an entirely vegetarian menu with so many vegan options but the food is amazing even if you aren’t trying to be either. 100% recommend.

Came here for salad. I figured they’d have good salad, because of the name. Anyway, the salad was really not tasty, and the lettuce was stale. And it cost $ 11.

The interior’s retro diner theme I like. The red booths, long counter seating area and shiny areas of stainless steel all contributed to the nostalgia. After scanning their menu’s many vegan options, I ordered the low-gluten blueberry pancakes topped with caramelized banana butter and powdered sugar with a side of home fries. Gluten-free pancakes are hard to pull off, I get it. But I have yet to have as doughy a pancake as I had at Veggie Galaxy. It’s like they’d been removed from the cooking process half way through. The dollop of banana butter did little to compliment the large cakes. I liked the home fries, though they cooled so quickly that the middle ground between crunchy and chewy was totally absent. The effort put forth to make a traditional breakfast from a list of gluten-free, dairy-free ingredients is much appreciated but I would choose something different off the menu next time.

Breakfast all day. Yaaas. Veggie galaxy is a casual diner with a hip friendly staff. The western ave omelette is sooo tasty and stuffed with spinach, brussel sprouts, asiago cheese and basil pesto. The coffee is pretty good and you can get free refills. I really enjoyed the peanut butter chocolate frappé which is huge! It’s made with coconut milk and that’s what really makes it taste so good. I will definitely be back for more!

Oh man, I really dislike this place. I didn’t used to. I went for a long time even though the service is consistently terrible because the food was so good. I’m also super allergic to gluten and they had a gluten-free menu, so I ate there pretty often. The last time I went there and asked for a gluten-free menu, they said that they could guarantee that literally nothing on the menu was 100% gluten-free. I’m honestly a pretty flexible person, and if the only thing I could eat on the menu was some type of salad, I wouldn’t be super thrilled but it would be fine. I really don’t ask restaurants to completely change around orders to accommodate me. Apparently, their kitchen is «too small» to guarantee no cross-contamination. The kitchen of many places is super small, including Life Alive. They manage to offer at least a couple of definitely gluten-free options there. Why can’t Veggie Galaxy? It is seriously as simple as keeping just one prepared dish in a closed container and changing gloves before putting it on a plate. They are actually just lazy. They don’t want to put any work into guaranteeing something has no cross-contamination(and again, just ONE thing — it doesn’t have to be the whole menu) just like they don’t want to put any work into serving you. Also — you can expect to wait at least a good 20 minutes when you get there, no matter what. Even if there’s clearly tables available. They just want to be cool and exclusive and not give away the seats too easily. It’s completely stupid. Food is super delicious but not safe at all for celiacs(sad face), service is terrible. If you can suck up hipsters mopily seating you once your 20 minutes are up and you point out that there are like 5 tables completley open, then another mopey hipster taking your order and then taking like 20 minutes to actually submit that order and refilling your drink like maybe once the whole time you are there, then my friend, this is the place for you.

Amazing, amazing & amazing… best Vegan Breakfast experience ever. Nestled on the popular artery of Mass Ave in Central Square, the diner was awesome across the board. I along with a small line of hungry patrons, we waited patiently for the doors to open. Without further ado, the door opener aka Owner, gave us entry into Vegan Paradise. I had already eyed my seat on the patio when I was walking up the sidewalk so I had to wait a few extra minutes while the opening set up was taking place. Surveying the diner was automatic, as it truly replicated the old school Woolworth & American Diners if you will. & the Coffee/Dessert bar was part of the Diner yet could be their own little café on its own. Amongst the massive varieties of Desserts, I helped myself to their ‘Day Old Muffins’ that were individually wrapped & Blueberry was my choice. I met my server Will in passing & was placed on the patio, a quaint little setting enclosed in a iron wrought fence. I started off with a hot Ginger, Lemon & Agave tea & nibbled on my muffin until I was ready to place my order. I took every page of suggestion that Will provided & decided on ordering ‘sides’ so I could try out different tastes. I started off with a low gluten pancake with the normal maple syrup & caramelized banana butter, what a delicious compote. I then ordered the Corned-Beef Seitan Hash, Homefries, & Seitan Sausage. Everything was scrumptious, in a fresh made & healthy manner. I had enough food leftover to take back to my hotel, snack on throughout the day & even moreso for breakfast the next day. I was even kind enough to share some of this good food by taking a breakfast sandwich to my WomanBaby. I got her an Egg & Cheese(Daiya Baby!), Roasted Garlic Mayo & added Tempeh Bacon to boot… she was happy. This gem of a diner offers not only breakfast, yet lunch, dinner — blue plate specials, soups, salads, a unique selection of burgers, desserts, beverages, a full bar… wine, beers/ciders & speciality cocktails. A few minutes of chatting with the Owner Adam, was a breath of fresh air in hearing about his vision & objectives of being the 1st Vegan restaurant operator in the area, & still staying strong. The entire staff from the Hostess, Barista, & Servers alike, were all genuine with their friendly service. This was the BEST vegan breakfast I have had to date, & will be my go to spot when I return to Boston, hands down. Will, I will request you on my return, thank you for a fabulous foodie & customer experience. Even more so for taking the time out to personally package up my Vegan Goodies… you rock!

I’ve been struggling with whether or not to publish this review since my last 2 visits to Veggie Galaxy(about a month ago), but after my visit this morning I’m going to post. VG used to be one of my favorite places; just thinking about the mid-century style glass case of vegan desserts made me smile. But something has changed and it becomes more and more evident on every visit. The once friendly staff is unpleasant, inattentive, and often just downright rude. The service is extremely slow and the once amazing vegan food is no longer amazing. The most obvious difference, though, you’ll notice as soon as you walk in the door. The diner will be only ¾ full — the counter completely empty — and yet the wait time will be 45 minutes, even without a full crowd in the waiting area. On my most recent visit, we waited nearly an hour even though the restaurant was never more than ¾ full. When we finally got seated, we were walked past the empty counter and past an empty mini-booth(which we were told was«reserved» when we asked if we could sit in it) down to the back to one of the tiny tables wedged in between two already seated parties. Then we waited… And waited… And finally ordered. Then ate our less than spectacular food but ordered dessert because, let’s face it, where else can you find such a large variety of vegan desserts? Then we waited… And waited… Then our waitress dropped off dessert and immediately disappeared before we could even tell her it was the wrong dessert! We were heading to a movie so I didn’t make a big fuss. I had to walk up front to get our check, paid it and left(yea, we still left a tip) This was not the Veggie Galaxy I remember and it makes me sad because it used to be such a fun place to go :( Addendum: Repeat performance on today’s visit. Finally we just asked why we couldn’t grab 2 empty seats at the counter and were told they weren’t «set up» yet. The counter was clean, but apparently putting down the napkin and flatware was a lengthy process? Who knows? Again we were seated way back squished between 2 already seated parties even though there was an empty(and by then, set up) counter as well as 2 open mini-booths. So, we just got up and left. Not worth it. Going out to breakfast should be a good experience. Isn’t that the whole point of going out? P. S. I don’t give out negative reviews very often but was a little surprised that so few reviewers had noticed the severe drop in service lately. When I glanced at «unrecommended reviews»(more than 100) I noticed that they were nearly ALL negative related to service. Hmmm… Weird that so many didn’t get recommended.

A full vegan place that serves breakfast all day? Score! I was excited to try this place out. The place was packed, so we have to wait a bit. While waiting, someone came around with donut samples for us to try. They were pretty good. I ordered the stuffed French toast. I haven’t been able to eat breakfast out in years, so I was excited to try it. Even for dinner. It was delicious! The portion was large so I only ate half, but I took the rest home. There was quite a few items on the menu that make me want to come back and try. :)

This is a vegetarian diner with all kinds of desserts! I came here with my cousin and she is not a vegetarian. She got grilled cheese and liked it while I got the Ruben. I went out of my comfort zone with this dish as I never had a Ruben sandwich before. I thought it was great although they could have added more of that veggie Ruben meat in there. I requested a side of jalapeños of which they provided. I will say that the jalapeños added a ton of flavor. I also believe they actually make their own pickled jalapeños. So good! We also got the poutine fries with cheese on top. There was a ton of cheese which is great but I think I would have preferred it without. They ask you if you want it vegan or not. Next time vegan it is. Nothing wrong with the cheese, but there was just too much. The gravy was great. For dessert we got the peanut butter chocolate cake. I liked it okay. I think we would have liked the Oreo cheesecake more. Next time I am in Boston, I will try that!

This place is Awesome! It is on our list every time we visit Canbridge. It’s really great to find an entirely vegetarian or vegan diner. It’s glorious comfort food meets veg! What is better? After a few different options, we both agree our favorite is the Reuben. I will say we have not(yet) been for breakfast(guess we’ll have to come back!), but it looks awesome. Every time we’ve been has had a wait, but it’s worth it. Plus the service is always friendly and engaging. We did have some really slow service during breakfast one day, but it happens. My only regret is that it’s not somewhere I can go regularly!

#yum Visited Boston for work for a couple days and had time to try one of the city’s vegan restaurants. I picked Veggie Galaxy. This place rocked! I’m lucky enough to visit many amazing vegan restaurants here in LA, so my standards are super high, and Veggie Galaxy was top-notch. The Old Bay cauliflower and Reuben were worth every fattening, unhealthy bite. If you can only get two things, I’d have to suggest the cauliflower and keylime pie. I was dining by myself so I got a seat at the bar right away. The servers were all super cool to me and didn’t even bat an eye at all the stuff I ordered, or the keylime pie I got to go. Thanks for not judging my hunger! I hope to make it back here one day.

Vegetarian options of your favorite comfort foods. Count me in. I’m always down to try new things, especially new version of my favorite sandwich, the Reuben. For containing absolutely no meat, I thought the sandwich itself was delicious. The side salad that comes with it is just basically greens, with no additional toppings or dressing. Nothing special there. The slaw or potato salad are both solid options, so you can’t really go wrong with either. The line at Veggie Galaxy during weekend brunch times can be pretty packed. Turnover of tables seems fairly quick if you’re a smaller group, but there aren’t many large tables, so keep that in mind if you’re a big party.

I got here around 1030 and there were a couple people already sitting in their booths. However when my friend and I left around 1230−1pm… the place was PACKED! I remember last time I tried to come but didn’t want to wait the 45 min line. But I can see why they love it! Friendly servers, cool diner like experience. I had the stuffed French toast and it was so different than a regular stuffed French toast but I was oddly super attracted to it. It was so addicting by the bite and eventually I gulped everything so quickly! Definitely want to come by here and get some more sweets so this is not the last time! (This place is not really well lit, so the pictures aren’t going to come out as superb as we might want– just letting y’all know)

Yay, I’m a fan… but… I really like the concept and most of the food here and reeeeeally like the fact that they have now created cocktails too… Nice! My peeve is the cake making. Now, i love the cakes, so much so when it’s a friends’ birthday I usually order one with writing etc, as I did last night. We had dinner which was fine there, the staff a little spacey but whatever. so then I get the cake they made and it’s a double chocolate cake… with chocolate cream and yes. iced with the same colour cream… so the writing was barely discernible. Why? Also, and I’ve encountered this before, the writing was flattened somewhat so I’m assuming they were stacking things on top of the cake. again, they did this with the last cake I bought last year. On top of this I swear the staff are becoming more spacey. I had to ask the staff very simple things like, is it possible to get a box. she brought the flat box to me and practically threw it over the table to my friend who’s birthday it was, then I asked if they have a bag. she looked at me as if I’d just fallen to earth. I understand they are busy — tho it seemed pretty quiet. 9 ish on a Wednesday night, but this along with other lackadaisical stuff and then the cake, repeatedly, is kinda annoying… Better staff training? More staff? Increasingly I get the vibe that the staff are not that bothered. even my friend who’s not been before remarked saying«what is it with the staff giving attitude.» I saw it as being clueless but maybe they actually do think they are too cool for school. err diner. It’s a pity. I’ve been going for years.

Veggie Galaxy is one of THE best places to eat in Cambridge. It lives up to my expectations every time! The servers are always prompt, laid-back, and attentive. The diner-esque atmosphere adds a really nice touch, too. Tonight I went out for dinner with a friend. I had poutine for the first time and it was amazingly savory and cheesy. We ordered the usual: a baked mac and cheese dish with greens on the side. For dessert, we decided to try the coconut citrus layer cake. There was an imbalance of flavor between the coconut and the citrus– there was too much of a coconutty taste and not enough citrus, in my opinion. However, their other dessert selections always hit the spot(such as the oreo cheesecake!). Dining here is always a satisfying and enjoyable experience.

This concept is so me. Diner food, but veggie. A friend brought me here when I visited Boston/Cambridge, and I’d definitely return if I visit again. The jackfruit BBQ was delicious, and I enjoyed sampling off my friends’ plates. Service was good and the atmosphere was fun. The tea and donut selection at the front was fantastic!

Everything veggie… tons of selections… even gluten free. We ordered the black bean burger and mushroom chickpea burger to share. Between the two, the black bean burger was better tasting one. The mushroom chickpea was a tad bit dry and heavy handed in a curry-like seasoning. Service was prompt and friendly. The diner had a chillax vibe. Nice place for Sunday brunch.

Fun and casual vegetarian diner serving up some awesome breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I came here with a friend for a catch-up Sunday brunch, and while it was pretty crowded when we arrived, the wait was a reasonable 20 minutes. The wait between ordering and food was longer than ideal, but it gave us a chance to catch up and the food was well worth the delay. I had the club sandwich — mostly because anything with pesto and garlic mayo is bound to be fantastic — and it was indeed delicious. Also, quite filling, and since accompanied by a side and a small salad, a great deal. Our service was very friendly and warm, and attentive despite being pretty busy with a jam-packed restaurant. I also loved their extensive tea list and that they give you a personal tea pot good for several refills — that’s the way to do tea! In short, a place I would highly recommend for brunch, lunch, or breakfast, but expect a wait on weekends.

The atmosphere is somehow simultaneously retro/futuristic and the service was really great! The time from order to food was insanely quick(less than 5 mins). All good stuff. I really, really wanted to like this place. However… and please take this with grain of salt as I am an omnivore who has previously only had veggie burgers from the frozen food section – the chipotle black bean burger was so mushy and beany I couldn’t eat it. Based on frozen vegetarian black bean burgers I’d had, I expected something with a bit more form – some breading or crispiness to it – but this burger seemed like just mashed black beans in a patty shape(like, it was falling apart as I picked it up) with a slight kick. The leukwarmness of the bean-patty and the slight spice was truly not appetizing, and I don’t consider myself a picky eater. I managed to eat about half before I had to give up. Maybe this is what an authentic black bean burger is(on the plus side, I’m sure this is far healthier than the frozen kind) and I’m just not a fan, but I definitely will not be ordering again. The chips were at least very thick and crispy. I tried the Club sandwich(smoked tofu and tempeh) and found the tempeh the most appetizing of the proteins. Still not something I’d crave, but mixed with the pesto it was okay. I may come back to try something else(or one of the great looking desserts) because the service was very good. EDIT: The owner says they are revamping the veggie burgers in the coming months, so I will have to return to try the new one! :)
