We decided for a late night supper on a Saturday and ordered for pick-up from the place around the corner. The convenience of it made us instantly open to positive impressions, for sure but we discovered that their definition of what sushi was differed from ours. We expected to be able to pick up individual pieces with chopsticks since part of the beautiful experience of crafted food is to be able to savor each handmade treat bite-size-like. Instead we were met with something more like a slab of rice, sliced cucumbers and crab-sticks squeezed into the small container and smeared with mayo and sprinkled with tempura flakes on top. We could NOT pick out and individual piece. Fairly disappointed. Not to mentioned ripped off since sushi is definitely a luxury.

The pork gyoza was OK, but the teriyaki were awful. Being a Japanese descendant I can tell you for sure that the beef teriyaki I had and the chicken teriyaki my boyfriend had have no resemblance at all(in taste and in texture!) with the original Japanese teriyaki sauce. Not only that could never be called a teriyaki sauce, but the taste of it itself was not good at all! Keep away from the teriyakis!

After a so-so experience a few months ago I thought I’d give the place another try. We got nigiri and a roll. The roll was ok, the nigiri was terrible. Fish — so-so; Rice– complete absence of vinegar, this was Chinese restaurant rice not sushi rice. The tamago was inedible. The crab rangoon was nice and the staff were friendly, I suggest staying away from the nigiri if you go here.

Stopped in here after getting a mani/pedi, and very happy we did. I’m not in Porter Square too often but when I go, I like knowing I have a good sushi spot. :)

I have ordered take out, had it delivered and eaten in. Every single experience has been top notch. Their volcano roll is amazing and regardless of how you get it(take out or eat in) they make it beautifully! Sushi is made to order and affordable! This has become my go to place for sushi. The wait staff is attentive and kind. Definitely worth every penny! They also have great hot green tea!

Been there, ordered deliveries couple of times. lets start with delivery, the guy who deliver the food was super nice and friendly.(so please tip him well) however sometimes the delivery came late, sometimes fast, but it is understandable due to traffic and peak hours which mean dinner or lunch time will have a lot of people ordering. The service, super friendly staff and service, no complains. As for the food, it is delicious, fresh, and it feels healthy after consumes it.(i aint nutritionist so i dont know if it is really healthy or not but at least i feel healthy after eating it) Dining experience is great! you will notice they added new decoration little by little if you are observious. so yea. five stars it is. Hopefully they will expand and have a bigger dining area.

My boyfriend and I ordered soups(delivery), which arrived quickly and were well-packaged(I have ordered delivery soups from other places and had them show up a mess, so frankly I was pleased and impressed with this). HOWEVER, the soup I ordered — kumbu soup with udon noodles — was SOSALTY, it was inedible. I know these soups tend to be salty, and I’m no enemy of salt — I LOVE a salty miso — but I am not kidding you, this was ridiculously, horrifically salty. I do not understand how any human could consume it. I ended up eating the noodles and throwing the broth away. What a waste. (My boyfriend ordered the spicy kimchi soup and didn’t particularly care for it, either.) Maybe their sushi is good. This place gets great reviews and my friends all love it. I’m sure it does other stuff well. But do not order kumbu soup!

This is really a 4.5 out of 5. We received delivery from Wasabi and it came very quickly. The sushi was the best we have found in the area. I appreciated that I could order my sushi with brown rice. Chicken teriyaki was good and the noodles it came with were a nice touch. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The only criticism was that the teriyaki sauce could have used more flavor. We will definitely be ordering from here again!

Delicious fresh sushi! Can’t believe I’ve driven and walked by it hundreds of times. This restaurant deserves to be packed!!!

This is the best Japanese restaurant we have found so far in Cambridge. That’s not to say that is matching up with the best Japanese restaurants in Tokyo or even New York City or San Francisco. But the vegetables are very fresh, especially the avocado, and the rice is just the right texture. Hey, we liked it so much we ended up ordering three times in one week. If that’s not a positive recommendation I don’t know what is. Plus, the delivery guy gives you a fist bump when he drops it off. Four stars. Would sushi again.

I have yet to try the full range of sushi at Wasabi, yet our takeout experience has been really solid. Although the bento dinner boxes are $ 20, you do get A LOT of food. I love getting to taste a little bit of everything. My tofu teriyaki box had lightly fried tempura tofu with noodles, three small shrimp dumplings, about 8 pieces of California roll, and white rice. On top of all the bento box food, the meal comes with a side salad and miso soup. Wasabi is now my main sushi take out spot.

Pretty good. Solid place for the most part. We live in the neighborhood so of course we had to go try it. Been there a few times now. Overall, it’s a decent local sushi place. Menu is what you would expect from a small sushi place catering to the local residents. They have most fish, nothing spectacular. They have a number of rolls on the menu. The standard ones are fine. The«creative ones» don’t always work out. Like the flavors don’t really mix well. Hit or miss. Service is fine. Not super attentive. I ordered 1 tea for myself. My husband ordered sake for himself. They brought over two tea cups and two sake cups. I thought we were clear when ordering. Not a big deal. They haven’t gotten our food order wrong. The place is not big. Not really good for large groups. A local restaurant to walk to. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat at Wasabi.

Wasabi knows what’s up. I usually avoid eating out alone, but Wasabi’s high quality food and comfortable dining experience tempt me to make this a regular practice. On a day off and ravenous from morning errands, I entered Wasabi around 1PM on a Wednesday to just a handful of guests inside the smallish space. The smiling waitress seated me by a window at a table for 2 and provided menus boasting a variety of lunch options. I LOVE lunch specials that come with a variety of foods(at a decent price), and was very tempted by the bento boxes which include soup, salad, shumai, rice, and fruit. Ultimately though, I had to go with my gut(literally) and order what I had come for: sushi. The sushi lunch special($ 10.95) includes miso soup to start followed by a plate of 5 sushi pieces(tuna, salmon, shrimp, and 2 white fish) and a roll of your choice from the options listed(most of them are simple, vegetarian roll options). After I ordered, my miso soup was was brought out promptly. It was warm and comforting, with good amounts of scallions, seaweed, and tofu in the cloudy broth. Just a few minutes after finishing this course, my lovely plate of sushi arrived, adorned with a bright purple flower. I had opted for the Boston Roll, which is shrimp, cucumber, and mango. This ingredient combination wasn’t my favorite, but there was nothing wrong with the roll itself. And the sushi was just splendid. Fresh, tender fish atop perfectly sticky(apparently organic) rice served at room temperature, as it should be. I devoured the sushi and was left satisfyingly full and energized. During my time there, the restaurant had 1 – 5 customers and a few more come to pick up orders, so I hope that they are busier during dinner. However, this vibe was exactly what I needed to relax and enjoy my solo meal. I’m looking forward to my next day off when I can come try out a bento box(teriyaki eel sounds incredible) or the chirashi lunch special.

I ordered delivery on a Tuesday night around 6:30. I didn’t order anything special, just a couple of maki rolls. After waiting for an hour I called to check on my order and was told they were«busy» and the then the woman on the phone promptly hung up. I let another half hour pass and called again and she said«traffic is bad» and once again hung up. After 1:45MINUTES my food finally arrived. The sushi was luke warm at this point. The sun roll fell apart as I tried to eat it. The crunch roll was simply terrible. This was probably the worst sushi and service that I’ve ever had.

Ordered the Kimchee ramen noodle soup with vegetables. It was very good. Sushi was made well. Some places that aren’t very good make rolls with too much rice. The guy here is skilled. Highly recommend.

My friend and I came here one night after a Unilocal Elite event. It was cold out and we wanted some ramen, did some Unilocaling, and ended up here. The place was relatively quiet on a Saturday night, but when the ramen is a calling… We browsed the menu, which seemed to have quite a nice array of combos and sushi, all at a fair price. I would have liked to try some of the sushi rolls and will likely return to do so. We got the ramen which was quite a large serving, and between the two of us couldn’t even finish the entire thing. The broth was delicious, not too salty, the noodles were cooked to just the right softness, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. A definite try if you are looking for some solid ramen. The staff was very friendly and checked in on us regularly. We were seated promptly. The place was clean, the bathroom was clean, and it didn’t have an over crowded furniture feel which can happen sometimes.

A friend and I were intrigued by Wasabi when we were driving by this restaurant on the way to Greek Corner, which prompted a view of their menu. I liked their offer of combo plates and a feast for two, which led me to think their options would actually satisfy my insatiable appetite for sushi.(See: ) A few weeks later, we ventured in. The Good: The fish was fine, and the specialty rolls were creative and fun(but a bit pricy). They have fried ice cream. The Bad: We were there on a Sunday around 6 pm and they were busy with takeout orders, which seemed to be slowing our food prep. The ugly: Some seriously heavy conversation from the next table over about some girl’s mom getting committed to a mental institution when her dad left them. Other Unilocal reviews cited charming ambiance, but I’m not so sure…

New Japanese restaurant in the heart of Porter Square. Newly renovated with a nicely designed dining area. I love sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chef making all these different sushi! Very decently price, and the selections are one of a kind. One of the item that I do highly recommend is the Spicy Tuna Pizza(spicy tuna on a pan seared dough, topped with avocado, tobiko, tempura flake, and a mixture of sauces) definitely something that you don’t normally see in another Japanese restaurant. Another must try would be the Fantastic Maki, with eel on the inside and salmon on top, lightly seared with Japanese mayo. Very flavorful! Highly recommended for casual Japanese dinner with recent pricing!

I have been walking by this place for weeks waiting for it to open since I live down the street so I was super excited to go and try it at long last! My partner and I stopped in for dinner around 7 and there were a few other tables full and nomming happily. The atmosphere was great which we were actually nervous about since the previous restaurant Third Eye was a bit dark and ominous. We are vegan/vegetarians so we ordered: –Veggie tempura appetizer –Garden roll –Vegetable dragon roll –Miso ramen soup with veggies Everything was great! I had very little complaint. The tempura was nice and crispy and the sauce was addictive with this great flavor we couldn’t quite pin down. The sushi was fantastic as well, espeically the vegetable dragon roll that had the nice touch of fried panko sprinkled on top. My partner and I had never seen that on sushi before. The only thing I didn’t love was the miso broth. They added some sort of vegetable that seemed canned– I think it was bamboo shoot, that gave the whole soup a musty, canned kind of smell which wasn’t super appetizing. The miso broth also wasn’t as rich and tangy as I was expecting. I had to put in a good deal of soy sauce before I found it to taste like anything. BUT the ramen noodles themselves were incredible– nice and fresh and chewy. The whole meal was delicious, we cleaned every plate and are so looking forward to going back :).
