Sure, it’s a tourist trap. Need a souvenir with a lobster, buoy, etc? Plenty of them here. Pretty much every Maine cliché is covered. Despite that, every time I walk in, I end up buying something. There are a few unique items to be found among the ordinary. It’s certainly worth a look while you are in the area.

Not the friendliest workers, wish the smiling cow was working. Like the shop though!

No trip to Camden Maine is ever complete without a stop in The Smiling Cow. This gift shop has been here forever. My husband remembers coming here as a child with some money in his pocket meant for a summer vacation treat of one sort or another from this place. The store still delivers something for everyone from young children who can go crazy looking at stuffed animals and toys to adults looking for souvenirs for themselves or folks at home. There are magnets, t-shirts, coasters, cards, my always favorite balsam needle stuffed pillows(and yes I bought another one), candy, tote bags, hats, you name it, you can probably find it here. Prices are fairly reasonable depending on the item. It’s definitely worth stopping in for a browse. It’s quirky and fun.
