OMIGOD what wonderful ports! The tasting room is in a little complex off the Carson exit on 50, and is nice, if a bit plain, but worth going even without the traditional rustic views and all. Very nice pourer, too. I have avoided becoming a member of Gold Country wineries because we’re from SF and it’s a hike, and I hate to commit, but the deal was so ridiculously good it would have been idiotic not to, here. So we shall definitely return!

I was here last year coming back from Tahoe. I love the various ports they had available to taste and purchase. I left with a bottle or merlot port and cab port. There is also other fruit wines like apple and peach wine. Definitely should be a last stop. Staff friendly and tells great stories. Check it out!

I can’t believe there haven’t been more reviews on DiVittorio. DiVittorio is one place I have to take all my out of town guests to. I have never really tasted their wines, however, they have the most amazing ports in the area. Madrona also has some very good ports, but DiVittorio has so many varietals and they are all very good. They have a Portuguese port which is my favorite, Merlot, Black Muscat(amazing), and a Cabernet Sauvingon. They are exactly what I think port should be. Sweet without being too sweet and without being syrup. They serve in real port glasses which practically no one in the area does. Additionally, they have a beautiful rustic tasting room and the staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful and never ever pushy.

Meh indeed. They have a line up of uncharacteristically older(for California) vintages, but none of the wines were well structured or full bodied. The tasting room attendant was not knowledgeable about the wines(she said she’d only been working there 8 days), so she couldn’t give us any details on the blends used. They also had a large selection of port and fruit wines, but all of the ports were much too sweet and a little off tasting. Maybe the wines had just all been left open too long? My travel companions enjoyed and purchased the Plum Wine which she opened fresh because the Nectarine Wine she had open had turned. Ick.
