Merrill Gardens At Campbell

I recently moved a family member out of this facility because of abuse. Far too many bruises and abrasions occurred on the night shift with one particular caregiver that I had no doubt my loved one was receiving rough treatment. Falls were reported occurring only in her bedroom, «unwitnessed». When the bruising appeared on her jaw bilaterally, I knew with certainty that she was a victim of reckless care and likely abuse. I would advise anyone putting a loved in Merrill Gardens Campbell to get a camera in the room as there is no other way to document what you suspect. I reported my concerns all the way up to the corporate level and to licensing. We moved our loved one to protect her.
Merrill Gardens of Campbell is too passive for people with early onset dementia and dangerous for those with advanced Alzheimers. There are better places for people with advanced disease.
The memory care facility here is poorly managed with little oversight. The supervisor is cold and inappropriate. She is obsessive about controlling the environment to the extent that the poor residents in the facility live in a sterile world spending hours in front of the television with little to do and minimal contact with the outside world. Boredom is rampant. The good activities you see in assisted living are not available in memory care and there is no bridge between the two areas. Merrill Gardens provides a beautiful birdcage to contain your loved one, but it is not innovative and does not offer enough activities or engagement to provide those with dementia a meaningful life.
My loved one is now doing well in a wonderful Alzheimer’s tolerant facility specializing in dementia care with rich activities all day long, access to the outdoors and an environment where loving kindness is systematically operational.

When I retire, Ive preselected this place! My grandmother was just moved in here (into the memory care unit), and it is the most dignified resort-​like establishment I have ever seen!!!
Full staff, dining, nursing, all inclusive care… Wrapped up in a state of the art brand new facility! Hands down best of the bay!
