Unfortunately, the King’s Head is gone. The new place is called the Spot. Many years ago, it was a pub run by an older English couple. Then, it was sold to young Americans. It still retained its British feel(although it was much too big for a British pub), but lost a lot of what made it English. It became primarily geared toward trying to be a location for night life. Then, finally, it was totally renovated to something called The Spot. As a pub, it’s less than ordinary.

King’s Head is now closed, but I still want to review it. At present, I think the new name is The Spot, but I may be mistaken. It’s an okay place… it’s bigger than a regular dive bar… ample dance floor space… stage for karaōke(feel like a rockstar!)… not much food menu… bar is okay. I’ve experienced several fun Meetup events here with co-Meetup-Organizers from other groups. I totally adore DJ Curtis’ way of hosting karaōke parties here. Those were the days…

Alright, to be fair, at one point I would have rated this place much higher, but I think the new owners RUINED it. I’m sure a lot of things were a cost cutting measure, but it jsut made the place suck. The first few times I went there, it was AWESOME — their Potato and Leek Soup was awesome, they had trivia and such during the week, and they were owned by a British guy and had British waitresses(I use the term loosely, since some were obviously Scottish or Irish). However, when I finally got my husband there, they took about twenty minutes to bring us drinks, another ten or so to bring us menus, about half an hour to come back to take our orders, another 45 or so to get our food, and an HOUR to bring us our bill, not to mention the 45 extra minutes to PICKUP the bill. THey sucked, we gave them a dollar tip. FYI, we were one of only five tables in the whole place. And yes, they’re closed now.

R.I.P. King’s Head Pub. We went there a year ago to see the Sun Kings(cover band of the Beatles) and the place was wall-to-wall with people twice our age. But it made for awesome people watching. The band rocked. The drinks and cover(b/c of the band) were ridiculously dirt cheap. The loft upstair gave a great view of the action, plus there’s a bar up there with no wait. Note to the wise: When you go to a place like that, you don’t order mix drinks. Stick with beer and you can’t go wrong. Unfortunately it changed ownership this summer and has seriously gone downhill. All the bartenders are ex-scumbags from Los Gatos bars. The crowd is skanky/trashy and barely legal-to-drink. Drinks aren’t as cheap. They have no reason to be charging a cover. The music’s horrible. And now it truly feels like a dive with a major identity crisis. Head over to the Cardiff Lounge if you want to dance or Katie Bloom’s if you just want to relax in a real pub.

Sh*tty McSh*t is what I would like to rename this place. What a disgusting vile place to be. I honestly wanted to run home and take a shower and scrub ’till I bled after being here for only a half hour. My friends are the ones who recommend stopping by for a quick drink on our little pub crawl on Saturday. First off, I walk up to the bouncer and he doesn’t believe its a real ID! I was like, WHAT? I need to somehow pull like 5 cards out to prove I’m actually 27. «How come your hair is long in this picture but not now?» OH um IDIOT it’s cause I CUTMYHAIR! I then preceded to ask if he needed to call my mother as well just to see if she could possibly show up with my birth certificate so he would feel more at ease — YEAH not too happy about hearing that one!!! SCORE1 for Kelly/SCORE 0 for Bouncer! I had to run to the ladies room but as soon as I entered, I felt I should probably just hold on. Very, very, very dirty restrooms and super stinky and hot. Okay, I NEED a drink now. I order my drink — Some martini thing and I literally finished it in 2 sips — There was no alcohol in it whatsoever — Only olive juice. F THAT — I’m done. Of course my friends weren’t. We went upstairs to sit down to finish their drinks but I couldn’t sit anywhere. Everything was filthy, stained and stank of poo! I finally had it and in my nicest tone said I would meet my buds outside while I cleanse my body with hand sanitizer. Overall, pretty much the worst bar I have been to in a long time — I won’t ever step in here again — Unless I’m drunk off my rocker and my friends drag me in here as a joke — DON’T DOIT!

This place is a better pub than it is a restaurant. The food service is slow. The quality of the food is adequate, but I have had way better. So I would say it isn’t a bad place to listen to live music and have drinks. But I would avoid this place if you are looking for some place to eat.

Nothing can really be said about the inside of this place. However, if you come here on a busy night, the atmosphere is great. Drinks are on the cheap end, and they often have a live band or a decent DJ. This place gets crowded. I really like the outside seating area. It makes it a really chill place to hang out and drink, and there aren’t a bunch of stupid drunks there either. I can’t vouch for the food, though. I’ve only been here pretty late at night.

Not a huge fan of this place, but since my bfriend is from London… he would take me here every once in a while. I didn’t care for the atmosphere… waiter service was slow and even sitting at the bar seemed a bit slow too. Food not too great… drinks are good… Me and Mr. London went by this past Sunday afternoon(6−1−08) and the bartender told us that as of last Thursday… it changed owners and it will SOON be a night club(um… ok). So for all you die hard King’s Head patrons… you better get there fast and have your last pint and some fish & chips before you are dancing in yet another ultra lounge venture of some youngin’s. Most of the décor is gone… I can’t believe they were drilling and pouding out stuff while we were sitting there trying to talk and have some drinks! Open Mic started but NOONE bothered to turn off the atmosphere music overhead. and the new owners had the nerve to turn UP the fight they were watching while this poor young guy was trying to play his guitar and sing… That was my last time at The King’s Head… I am not planning on seeing how the new club is… cheers! :o)

I have been to this place a few times for food and drinks. We came by just for drinks and I wasn’t in drinking mode so I got a Shirley Temple which I have never had and loved! Their menu is huge from appetizers, lunch, dinner and even Ice Cream Sundaes there! We did not order food but in past the burger was fine for pub food I had a few months ago. The men had quite a few beers and said they were pretty happy! The place has seating outside and there is an upstairs as well. It got really busy around 9:00PM when the live band came out and played. The band was actually pretty good! There were quite a few single people here if you looking for a date or to just some fun people watching. There were some folks dancing and we got to see our waitress do a cool Western Line dance with some guy she knew as well that was entertaining. Cool place to hang out at for a night.

I have been here several times in the past, and have always liked the outdoor section with the big patio area in the back, complete with pool table. I typically like going to the King’s Head on a Sunday afternoon, relaxing with a beer, sitting outside on the patio on a nice day. At least for Sunday, it’s not so crowded, and inside, there is free wi-fi, so if I wanted to have a beer while using the Internet, in an environment way less crowded than OVC, this is where I end up. I have also been here on a Friday night, and one time, with my friends, we were having dinner in the upstairs section, but the only complaint was that the band that was playing that night was so loud, that we had to resort to texting each other in order to maintain a conversation. It was pretty funny though…

Awesome people watching. I don’t drink beer, so I can’t comment on beer quality. But from the amount that my husband and his friend imbibed, I assume it was decent enough. Props for putting Shirley Temples on their menu in a bar, too cute. Love those things, esp when I am designated driver. Fun bands on Saturday nights. Definitely an interesting place to hang out and people watch… lots of cougars on the prowl and guys looking to be their prey.

I used to go see one of my favorite bands here and it’s the only reason i go to campbell. The place is always packed when Ive been there adn the clientele is usually frisky which can make for a great night or for some ruin an entire experience. Me on the other hand, I LOVEDIT. Celtic nights are always fun but maybe its the Irish in… Or the Irish I’d like in me LOLOL… You can always get guinness and shots of jaeger though Ive never ever ever eaten anything here. From what I can gather the food is pretty decent pub food anyways so I’ll just take their word for it.

I have to give the King’s Head five stars for the fish n’ chips alone. It doesn’t mean this is a 5-star establishment all around, but I have a bit of history here. I have been making the drive to Capbell ever since an old boy introduced me to the King’s Head a year and a half ago. We used to drive over here for a late lunch or dinner, and share a plate of fish n’ chips. It’s worth the drive because the fish is really good and well prepared– none of those tiny little pieces of cod you get other places. Along with the fish are the chips(of course) and the mushy peas… mmmm… Anyway, after I got rid of said boy, I continued the tradition on with my current boyfriend. We only make our way down here every once in a while, but the other night we were in the neighborhood for a friend’s party. Of course, we had to stop by. Saturday night, the weekend before Halloween, and(I’m guessing) one of the only pubs in town. It was an interesting time, seeing a whole new side to the King’s Head. We sat out on the deck(they have a fabulous outdoor area with a pool table, picnic tables and chairs) and ordered beers all around from Princess Leah. I went in and watched the costume contest and caught an old and finished Batman making an inappropriate gesture towards«hot cop girl». While waiting in the line for the restroom I had quite the encounter with a couple scantly-clad women old enough to be my mother. Here’s to King’s Head– the pub where everyone acts like a 20-something while eating awesome fish-n-chips!!!

I like the kings head. Sure, on thursday nights there are more mullets than people under 35, but whats so wrong about that? I have had some of the funnier bathroom conversations in this place ever. I have also never been so scared of being violated by a 45 year old woman(not that theres anything wrong with that, or is there). They tend to have some pretty decent cover bands, and I would rather go here than KatieBlooms any day of the night, since it is much bigger, less obnoxious, and i always leave with at least one funny story…

For some reasons, I ended up at King’s head on St. Patty’s day in the past couple years… tons of people, live bands and just a fun place to drink and hang with your friends. St. Patty’s days were the only time I came here until last night I went there for beer and food around 8pm. Service was not slow at all, unlike other Unilocaler’s review. We ordered couple pints of beer, calamari, sausage sandwich and Shepherd’s pie. Good service, food was decent, calamari was crispy and tender and it was very tasty :) Good beer selections — I tried Boddington and it was yum, and I am totally not a beer drinker. When it is not crowded it would be a good place to drink beer and hang out with your buddies, or watch some games on TV.

The Kings Head is another one of those attempts to capitalize on the popularity of UK culture. The pub serves traditional British pub grub fare. The Fish n’ Chips were pretty good the evening I was there — and paired with a pint of well poured Guinness or three — really hit the spot. Nothing spectacular to see here — just solid pub food. We also played the trivia game they had going on that evening. Definitely worth an occasional visit!

So this is definatley a local kind of place, but a lot of fun. Its look silly on the outside and the name, but it is a fun place to go though I haven’t been on a Saturday or anything. The patio is great, big, lots of tables, can smoke, even a pool table and when the weather is nice its great, esp. since the inside can get really stuffy. The bartenders have been good but the waitress have been crappy and rude. The selection of beer on tap is great! The food was pretty good, I think I split some kind of sandwich with my fiancé. The crowd can seem a little ruff, but you just keep to your group, they keep to theirs, its fun and worth trying. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So I am changing my 4 stars to 2 stars, I am sitting here at work miserable, miserable, miserable. Why you ask? Food poisoning from the french dip, awful, awful. I was up most of the night, still continuing into today, hopefully it will be gone for my wedding reception on Sunday. Though yes I like the place, the beer selection and happy hour, I will no longer get food here.

Upon arriving at this place I realized I needed to get drunk. Not my typical crowd. Everyone was 30 – 50 and country line dancing. By my 3rd pint of London Pride I was having a good time. The rest of my friends would disagree. But fuck them. I’m still fucking drunk right now. Still feeling good feeling great. I don’t get why they have a menu when everything on their menu cant be made. The waitress said it was cause only one cook was on staff. So what’s the point of menus? I wanted some Yorkshire pudding! Damnit! We got an appetizer instead. It was okay. I guess. There was a lot of country line dancing going on. The waitress was totally into it along with the queen of line dancing. Made me jealous. I only know the electric slide and achy breaky heart. The DJ gets in on the karaōke whenever there’s a downtime and nobody’s on stage. He’s still on stage ripping out lines when people are performing. Keeps the show going so it’s not dead. My friends were struggling with everything. The atmosphere, music, food, all that. I actually enjoyed it and it wasn’t even my idea to go, but like I said, it helps if you’re drunk. Everything seems fun and dandy.

I’ve only been here on Monday nights for karaōke. It’s a cool English pub with a good atmosphere. There are plenty of places to sit including an upstairs area that overlooks the main bar. I haven’t seen people upstairs when I’ve been there so they may close that off at night. No idea on that one. They have a good size stage and the guy who runs karaōke – DJ Curtis – is very friendly. He’s good at keeping the show lively and occasionally busts out some air guitar as backup for singers. Get there early(~9pm) for karaōke, though, because the rotations are ass-numbingly long. If you’re there from 9pm — midnight you’ll be lucky to get more than 2 songs in. Sound setup: Great Song selection: Outstanding Crowd: Great Rotation: Ass-numbingly long
