The Cellar at The Lumberyard

Horrible. I wanted to have my wedding reception local because I was married on the beach. This place was blocks away. Worst service ever. I don’t mean the waitress. She was nice. I mean the business. The manager or owner lady would not work with us at all. The dinner was going to be so simple yet extremely over priced. She would not accommodate any requests and would say it’s the chefs choice and he doesn’t want to. For veggies they wanted to do corn… For a wedding. And the fish was disgusting. It was in a boat dish with watery gross seasoning. The food was literally awful. It was extremely over priced. The taste testing was so disappointing. It was supposed to be in their «cellar room» and I asked to see it and they first said no but I was like I just traveled 5 hours to see this and then they let me in and said I could move the tables any way I want or design how I want. When I got back home they changed the number of people allowed in the room. Saying my extra 6 guests needed to be in the main restaurant. I’m not inviting my family so they can sit in a separate room from us and eat gross good. When I went there they said that my guest list of 40 was totally fine, when I returned they said max 32 or something like that. I don’t recommend this for a event of any kind. We ended up going to a 5 star restaurant in Astoria and had outstanding food. Tony the Owner did any requested I wanted and even with renting a big bus to drive everyone up there and getting the best food and wine, it was still cheaper in the end then this restaurant.

I give it three stars for atmosphere. I thought the food was over priced for the quality of food we received. I order the «daily special» meatball sandwich wasn’t anything special meat balls on a Safeway hoagie c

The Cellar has limited hours (only open Saturday and Sunday afternoons) and is located inside the Lumberyard Rotisserie & Grill.
You can stay for a tasting or purchase bottles to go. They have a wine club with special offers and discounts that is worth considering if you are in the area frequently. Otherwise, we were offered a complimentary tasting flight when we purchased a few bottles. Win — Win.
The Cellar also partners with a few restaurants in town (Lumberyard, Stephanie Inn Dining Room and The Wayfarer), so they waive your corkage fee if you bring your receipt from The Cellar along with your wine.
Personally, I make more of my purchases at The Wine Shack at the other end of town by the Coaster Theater, but I enjoy visiting both stores when I’m in town on the weekend.
