Hub City Cycle & Training

After having a baby I was looking forward to picking up spin again. Turns out Tammy sold the business and didn’t send out any notification to customers. I had classes left and have no recourse for the money I paid. Tried contacting the business but never got a call back and email bounces. What a rip off! Thought this owner was solid but turns out very differently…

I took a cycling class here recently on a Saturday morning. I’m giving this place 2 stars because the studio itself was extremely clean, they provide towels, the spin bikes are new and tell you your gear, rpm etc. The lighting in the spin room is nice and the flat screen TVs are a nice touch. They also have a «leaderboard» similar to Flywheel where you can see your ranking and power.
Now on to the actual class. I’ve taken a ton of cycling/​spin classes in the past at probably 15 different gyms/​studios. Never have I taken a spin class where the instructor doesn’t spin. She did not get on the bike once the entire class. She also never once instructed the class on position, so half the class was up standing while the other half was sitting and everyone was pretty much on their own. If you were fairly new to spin, I’m not sure how you would have had any idea what to do. The instructor seemed more concerned with playing random YouTube videos on the TVs (i.e. 2012 Olympic highlights) than instructing a cycling class.
I was able to get a good workout in because the equipment was great and I ‘ve taken enough cycling classes to be able to kind of do it on my own. I can’t speak for any other instructors, but I would definitely not go back again to the one I had.

Between getting a free class for your first and an unlimited week for $ 19.99 I couldn’t be happier with my beginning experiences here! The staff is SO welcoming and encouraging, I feel comfortable and excited when I show up to get my butt kicked. This place is a must try!

I have been waiting for awhile to write this review. As a novice to spinning (when I say novice, I mean I haven’t been on a spin bike since 2004!), Hub City Cycle is the perfect place for me to build up my confidence in getting back into shape. I started going to HCC back in Feb and I haven’t stopped going since. I take their 9:30am barre class on Sundays, and I take a 6pm Butts, Guts and Gears on Tuesdays. Their instructors are patient, motivating and generally nice people! I normally get intimidated at a gym, even the classes offered at any gym, but these instructors make you feel comfortable in your own pace, they motivate and push you past your comfort zone. I haven’t felt so great in years! I enjoy my workouts at HCC, and owners Tammy and Joe are extremely friendly. I am so glad there is a place like this near where I live… no more Work Out World, BSC and Planet Fitness!

Impressive! Top of the line equipment combined with the top of the line trainers. Fun place to take a cycling class servicing all levels of ability. Staff is friendly and well informed.

Both owners left a big-​name gym to open Hub City with an eye for a more personal touch. Focuses on the needs of the individual, as opposed to the group as a whole. Cycling classes as well as personal training are offered, with state of the art equipment and an excellent staff. Fun and energized way to get in shape, highly recommend for all levels of fitness
