Please note that I am not writing this review in regards to their baked goods. I’m basing this review solely on what I consider to be «café» aspects. I’ve been to this«café» a few times and I am sad to report that I’ve been disappointed in one form or another each time. My latest experience is as follows: I ordered an x-grande iced beverage. The espresso grounds were placed in a single shot portafiltro which I found to be odd for the largest drink offered. Once the first shot had been brewed, the employee decided to reuse the espresso grounds by brewing another shot through them. I’ve never seen this done nor did I ever do this as a former barista. I compare this to brewing a second pot of coffee using the same grounds the first pot was brewed with. I would never do that. The shots were added to the blender with ice, milk, my chosen flavors and blended. Yup, blended. Personally, there is a big difference in iced and blended. My drink was watered down with mild hints of the flavoring and did not contain any taste of espresso. It probably doesn’t help that the amount left over in the blender was the same amount that had been poured into my cup. This is the second time my iced beverage was blended and to be blatantly honest, an epic fail. I’ve also dropped by during their supposed business hours only to find them close. This has happened multiple times. I really wanted to like this establishment. The employees have always been very kind. I feel that it should just be called«Swirls Baked Goods» as the focus seems to be on their baked goods. Maybe I’ll try their cupcakes one day. I wish them the best of luck.

Was introduced to this café by a Groupon purchase. They just re-opened their doors. I called in the a.m. and the woman on the phone very kindly described every cupcake they had baked freshly today, and offered to set aside my dozen for pickup in the evening. My family and I have tried a number of cupcake bakeries and I can honestly say this was our favorite! I’ve not seen a sweet potato cupcake before. It was filled with pecan pieces and topped with a really light brown sugar/buttercream frosting. Fantastic! The only reason I’m not offering up 5 stars is I have to agree with previous reviewers that improving service needs to be an absolute priority. Please heed our advice, owners. I will drive out of my way for an equally good product if I know the service is consistently friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

Not quite cupcake art but very tasty cupcakes. Fairly basic for the most part and some of them are really reliant on food coloring which is offputting to me personally. They just are ok looking overall. I do give them kudos for frosting them rather than just mounding junk on them but it would be fun to do both, but maybe I am just greedy. Cheap sandwiches but limited selection, they seem to have thrown them on the menu as an afterthought, like hey I guess we should do food or something. The drinks are not terribly cheap. Odd. I would prefer a better tea selection but tea fans of the world are used to getting the short end of the stick. Overall I would say this place is good but not something I would trek out of my way for, it is convenient to Holiday Market so if you are there, it is worth a whirl.

Yum. Cupcakes are good, my absolute favorite is the coconut. Based on the tasty cupcakes and friendly service, we made a few visits while out here on vacation. Triple chocolate was super chocolately and yummy. The iced vanilla chai was also really good. When I return to visit the parents later, I will make sure Swirls is programmed in my GPS as a favorite. WIsh there was something like this near where I live… (Never got around to trying the sandwiches, but they also have a reasonable sized assortment of those)

I am so torn on how to write this review. I love food and my mouth was happy(all I had was an Italian cream soda and some cupcakes), however, I have to take away points for service. I will give it an overall«decent.» Experience #1 with Swirls: drive to meet Sarah G. for a cupcake. Hours posted on the door and the website state that Swirls should be open and serving us yummy goodness. No such luck. Swirls is closed. We are sad and head to Bigby down the road for some coffee. Experience #2 with Swirls: Opened(check), cupcakes in stock and looking yummy(check), compentent staff(FAIL). Between not knowing how to work the register, and me walking them through making my Italian Cream Soda, I was disappointed to say the most about the staff. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day… but if you can’t make the things on your menu, you should probably LEARN or find a job that you can handle. I went to Swirls specifically for the cupcakes. They are definitely better than The Cupcake Station in B’ham, but still do not compare to the swanky, trendy cupcake shoppes in bigger cities. I am still in search of a MI bakery/café that can satisfy my craving for an out of this world cupcake, but these are decently moist and very sweet(which for me is a plus). They also stock a good variety of flavors. Decent.
