The cashier stole the money I gave him! I gave him 2 dollars for a frosty he pocketed one. I asked to peak to the manager and the manager told me to get out of the line. Just go to the next one, this Wendy’s is not worth it!

Did a drive thru a couple nights ago. It’s convenient for me on the way home from work, and I’ve been here a handful of times, but after the other night I won’t be back for a while. The fries had so much salt on them, they weren’t edible. And usually, I like salt! I literally thought I might had bitten in to one of those salt packets by accident after tasting them. Of course, your in a drive through, so by the time you figure it out your already gone. My spicy chicken sandwich was fine, though. But it didn’t make up for the money I wasted on the fries. Plus, I was still hungry!

I’ve been to this Wendys several times and find it up to par with most. When we’re on the road we like Wendys for the chili and a burger and maybe a frosty for desert. This one has all that and I don’t have any particular issues. Like most fast food I seldom see the same employees more than once and don’t expect more than a hot meal and a cool desert. 3 stars for Wendys of Canton on Michigan.

This Wendy’s has been swamped with business while the McDonald’s at the corner of Canton Center and Michigan Avenue has been closed for renovations. Either Wendy’s management didn’t get the news that McDonald’s was closing in time to hire new staff, or they don’t care, but they have slipped in my estimation as a consequence. Wendy’s used to be my favorite fast-food restaurant, far ahead of McDonald’s, because I could ask for my burger with only ketchup, lettuce and onion, whereas at McDonald’s a special order could take a long time. But, this week when I asked for my standard single with the aforementioned condiments, they guy punched in mustard instead of ketchup. I hate yellow mustard, and ended up having to wash my burger before I could eat it. Ridiculous! When I called to complain, the manager apologized and promised a free sandwich anytime. So, I went back the next day to claim it, and the people said they couldn’t find any note supporting my claim, but would honor it anyhow. When I got home, though, they hadn’t properly assembled my free burger, or anything else that I had to pay for. [I pointed out to the cashier that in this situation, McDonald’s usually comps the whole meal for me, not just the one item, and he looked at me sheepishly.] So, I can’t give up on Wendy’s entirely, but I won’t be visiting this one again anytime soon.

March, 2013UPDATE The coffee shortchange has ended since I reviewed this Wendy’s in 2010 and service seems consistently better. Apparantly, managment woke up & realized there are a lot of unemployed good employees out there. Now, this Wendy’s grill preps seem to have an onion shortage or they find onion slices to heavy to lift. Several times people I know(and myself) got just a single ring of raw onion on our burgers when we asked for pickles and onion. No pickle shortage, just onion. McDonald’s puts a spit’s worth of frozen minced frozen onion. Wendy’s– the fresh food brand –of drive by burger joints uses fresh but one tiny ring? No wonder people flock to the new family owned burger diner down the street. They understand«Onions» means a slice, not a thin ring. I added two stars. Except for the onion shortage, I find this Wendy’s runing more like other Wendy’s, even a little better than the service challenged Rawsonville store where the morning weekend drive by staff seem to have a buzz on. 7÷11÷2010 Well, this Wendys hasn’t changed. Unless we count getting worse. The last three weeks in a row, management cannot seem to keep a pot of coffee available! Two people tried to bring me a cup(weekdays 2−3pm), only to be told«we are brewing a pot». I tried to get one this week when I stopped to order a child’s. Only after making my order, I was informed: «We are brewing a pot». I guess the afternoon crew has only one coffee pot & maintaining a fresh pot is a unbearable responsibility for them. A friend told me he got a last cup(with grounds) when he was there last week. Managers! Wake up! This is a rough economy. There are good workers out there. Stop hiring these part time shift tenders, full time party animals. Mommas with a good job. Stop handing out bucks to that sloven adult kid. What’s he gonna do when you cannot support his party ways? 50 something is a little to late for him to grow up. I cancelled my order & went to Canton McDonald’s. They always have coffee & its fresh! …Maybe Canton fast foods employ more female managers. Women are not known to hire and keep bad staff hoping they can score with the party skirts. I mean its gotta be grab A&& that’s going on in Ypsilanti drive by kitchens, because it sure isn’t customer service!
