My daughters had The Cup Above go to their school and make turtles so when I found out about this place, I was excited to take them here so they could paint their turtles. I thought this could be a new activity I do with my girls but after my experience that will be the last time I go there. I went to The Cup Above on a Monday afternoon around 4pm. Upon arrival, I was not greeted by any staff. Their was another family there painting so I knew someone had to be there, so I patiently waited with my girls but after waiting awhile my youngest daughter(5) started becoming touchy, therefore I decided I’d go look for someone to help me so we could get started. I asked the family if they knew where the person working was & they said, «no» so I started to walk towards the room across the way, when I saw a guy in a room to my left, sitting down on his phone. I asked him if he worked there & he said, «yes» so I told him we were here to paint some turtles my daughters made at school. He told me to go find a table & pick 3 colors I would like to use to paint the turtles. We found a table and he got us our paint. One of my daughters needed a little more green paint, so I told her when the guy came out, I would ask him. He never came to check on us or offer us any cookie or drinks as others have mentioned in different reviews. So my 7 year old daughter, being very independent, told my 9 year old daughter, she would go look for him & ask for more green paint. She found him in the room again and delivered the message. We got our green paint but after this we were over this place. Once we finished painting the turtles, we had to go to that same room and ask him what the next step was, since again, he never came out to check on us. He also never checked up on the other family that was there. This place had a lot of potential in my opinion but unfortunately the customer service was horrible. I’ll be taking my business somewhere else, since the actual activity is one that my girls & I plan on continuing to do. Check out other places with the same concept before coming here, would hate for others to get the same customer service I got.

Came here with my wife and daughter. We ordered sandwiches and cookies. Then after eating they made coffee cups. Had a great experience and will definitely be coming back

The staff was rude. They gossiped right in front of me about another co-worker. The cookie I ordered was underdone in the center. This is a cute concept but the staff need to improve their customer service skills.

I LOVE The Cup Above, they definitely do go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time, I’ve come here countless times with my little girls and the staff has always been friendly and inviting. Their Chinese chicken salad or wrap are the bomb! Their cookies… who doesn’t like custom made cookies, fresh and delicious. But what truly makes a great place is the staff, they are funny, professional, great conversationalists, and are always eager to help you out! Nick, you’re awesome, always so helpful and easy going. Chelsea! You’re always going above and beyond my expectations, love that! Jade! You’re so funny and a great person to talk to, makes my experience fun! And Emma always welcoming and sweet! I haven’t had a chance to meet the new barista but I’m sure I will soon enough. Thank you guys for giving me and my girls a fun and safe place to relax and do our projects. This is by far one of my favorite places to go to!

I love this place. I’m a local and come in 2x a day for my morning and afternoon coffee. The staff is really friendly. They are always greeting their customers and sometimes by name which is total professional and comforting. They have a good food menu, where else can you make your own cookie with unlimited toppings? I haven’t done ceramics, but it looks fun. Maybe i will get some coffee and get artsy, all in all i love this place. Support local coffee shops!

My wife and daughter went there today with another friend and her daughters and had a terrible experience. One of the kids accidentally painted a ceramic hummer type piece which happened to be her boyfriends. The employee was rude and had a terrible attitude towards my wife and friend. After discussing it, my wife and her friend offered to clean it and take care of it. After ordering cookies they were waiting when another woman came in and told them they had to leave by 245. Again, this second woman was rude and pushy. Although they are to close at 330, they were being pushed out by 245. Once their cookies came out, one was wrong. When my wife’s friend brought it up, again the girl was rude and said that was«what they ordered». My wife and friend just dealt with it. My wife did approach the second woman who told them they had to leave and explained they would never be back based on the attitude they received. The girl complained that she was there on her day off and that my wife had no idea what she had to do such as clean and handle customers. Here’s a tip for that young lady, that’s called life. You have a job and it requires you to be positive, and actually«earn“an income. If you are so miserable you have to complain to customers about it, you should quit.

This place is amazing! The food is good and they let you customize your own cookie. They bake their own bread and will make anything the way you want it. The real magic of this little spot is the ceramics/clay/painting in the back of the shop. They don’t charge studio or firing fees and they donate projects to local schools. The owner owns a tax firm but runs this shop because she loves it. This place is great and I wish I could stop in here more often.

Great coffee, cozy atmosphere, and awesome concept for a place. This coffee shop also serves as a sort of ceramic art educational center. I’m not much into crafts myself, but I came here with my cousin who is all about that stuff. We originally came just to get some studying in. After 30 minutes of us being there my cousin noticed people painting on ceramic bunnies, mugs, and other things on the other half of the place. She bought some herself and ditched our study sesh to go paint them until the place closed. There’s a kiln to fire up your ceramic masterpieces too. The lady behind the counter was super nice too. I’ll definitely be back here again in the near future.

We were visiting the area for the weekend and found this place on Unilocal! So glad we decided to give it a try. It was so good the first day, we went back for a second time. Very friendly and accomodating staff person. I’d agree with other posts about the long wait. There was only one person working both weekend days we visited. She was awesome and calm but you can’t go in for a «quick cup of coffee.» Expect a bit of a wait.

I went in for a cup of coffee while waiting for our dog to be groomed at «Just for Paws» and was pleasantly surprised with all of the gift items, craft ideas, and fun classes available and going on. with the added surprise of having a wonderful sandwich that has to be one of the best values in the plaza. two thumbs up!!!

Artsy fartsy coffee shop that also doubles as a ceramic painting place! Cool concept. Tried their coffee and bagels here the day after it snowed in Temescal Valley for the first time in years and it was a very comforting experience. Good coffee and great atmosphere. Prices are also reasonable. The menu is a little confusing and the bar was somewhat cluttered but I didn’t really care because the girl up front was really nice. The area for ceramic painting is a lot bigger than Color Me Mine in Chino and they have more options on what to paint. Might try it out sometime.

I love gifts made with love and The Cup Above has just that. Perfect for kids. Perfect for a newly dating couple to add something personalized in a gift idea. Give yourself about two weeks to prep and pickup. Spacious painting room. Cute coffee shop entry and I noticed they make picnic coolers for diners on the go. Friendly staff. My son enjoyed painting his Christmas gifts here.

The Cup Above is AMAZING!!! Let me first address the coffee shop portion, this is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is deliberately conducive to the creation of art. This is not a run of the mill starbucks where it’s go go go go go rush rush rush loud executives on their phones arguing with their freelance graphics artist. This is an artists haven! Inexpensive food, coffee, smoothies and cookies! They’ve got music playing and books on the book shelf. Couch, comfortable chairs, and GREAT employees! Aubrey is one of the nicest people I’ve met in a long time– she’s friendly, organized, and she made my first time in this shop a great one! I will most definitely be coming back and she’s a big part of the reason why– You do not get service like that at most coffee places. Ever. Secondly, you have the ceramics half. Now I don’t even have children and I think this is a BEAUTIFUL thing. It’s family friendly, great if you just want to tune out and get away, if you love art, or if you just want something inexpensive to do. THEYDONOTCHARGE A STUDIOFEE –Unlike Painted Earth! These guys are great! Plus they have lessons and you can even make your own mug from the clay if you want to. And my third point, and probably the most important, is they DONATE lessons to the local schools. This is INCREDIBLE– Especially being a coffee shop. This is truly the better alternative to starbucks & painted earth– It’s cheaper, it’s got a conscience, and OPENMICNIGHT!!! What more could you want??? Oh yeah GREATSTAFF! The Cup Above is the real deal and you’d be sorry to pass it up.

Can we really only do one to five stars? I’d love to give these people fifty stars! The front of the store is deceiving at first– the place is really huge and there are rooms in the back. I didn’t notice this at first. I haven’t tried their cookies, but the girls here make an amazing BLT and chicken BLT. Wow. The drinks are really good, too! It’s a great place to study(only a short drive from MSJC in Menifee). I found it by accident using Unilocal because I wanted to find somewhere to study. They pointed me to a back room where it’s very quiet(you can’t really hear the music coming from the computer( ! :))) and there’s a marker board for me to use for my classes. They’ll pop their heads back once in a while to make sure everything’s good, and when I don’t have to study they’re happy to chat. One thing I really appreciate is how down-to-earth the women are! No catty behavior at all like you hear at some Starbucks locations. The prices of drinks are comparable to Starbucks, but the quality is so much better. The sandwiches are pretty fairly priced for a small business. This place is truly a treasure! I go as often as I can. It’s a bit tricky to find, but if you go past the mechanic(smog? Tire? Who knows) place and towards the back of the shopping center then you’ll find them next door to the golf carts and the vet office.
