If you’re looking for the perfect place to hangout with friends, yourself, a book or laptop seek no further! West Bank Bistro has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and some great coffee. Try the Chai Tea Latte with an extra shot of espresso, it’s my gift to myself every Friday because I’ve survived the week ;)!

Wandered in here for coffee on a lazy Saturday morning in Cape and immediately fell in love with this 110 year old house! I would have absolutely no problem living there if the opportunity presented itself. You MUST check out the bathroom with the old bathtub and cool architecture… it’s so charming! Now I know people don’t stop by West Bank just to look. They go for the coffee… And the coffee is great. The guys behind the counter were so friendly, and gladly made my best friend a vanilla latte. I needed soy milk, and he handed me a big carton of it. I added some cinnamon and a sprinkle of cocoa, and was in love with everything that was going on in my cup. Bonus: the coffee cups are made from plants! There were a ton of desserts and pastries out, but per usual, I was *trying* to behave myself. We took everything to go, but there was a ton of seating(as well as some outside on the patio.) Bring a laptop and enjoy yourself for a few hours. I plan on swinging by West Bank every time I’m in Cape, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. What a gorgeous little place!

West Bank Bistro is a casual, hidden gem located inside a historic home adjacent to the SEMO State University campus. This place offers sandwiches, soups, coffee/drinks, and homemade baked goods. Grab a panini and coffee and admire artwork by local artists hanging on the walls. Don’t forget about the cukes because they are oh so yummy and refreshing on those HOT, summer Missouri days! Prices are reasonable. The service is prompt when there are a reasonable amount of customers. However, when large groups invade this peaceful bistro, it can get busy and slow down since things are prepared in house. Ryan is friendly and he handles peak times with such ease and calmness. I’m a regular and I will definitely be back for lunch!

In its journey toward being more of a «real» college town with walking trails to boot, Cape Girardeau needed another place like West Bank Bistro. Great smells from the very good coffee, great desserts, good menu, a nice setting adjacent to the SEMO River Campus and the old bridge abutment river overlooks all add up to a great place in a great location. So in general — I say please give them your business. However, one beef(and hence the missing star), is that the«Blackened Chicken Club» is misnamed. It’s a good chicken sandwich. No doubt there. But it’s not layered, not cut into triangles, has no «blackening» on the chicken(I imagined a pounded ½ chicken breast in Louisiana seasonings still crackling from being pan seared, but I received a thin layer of good-quality deli chicken breast instead), and(gasp!) NOBACON! A «club sandwich» is a specific genre — and this ain’t it. But like I said — it’s still good — it just needs some truth in advertising with a new name.

This is a great place to grab a cup of coffee or awesome baklava.
