«Just shoot me,» was the text I got after seeing what was happening to his 88 year old mother(who is pretty«with it»). She had a compression fracture in her back and was sent here for rehab. Here are a FEW observations: She arrived at noon 2 days after surgery. Asked for pain meds at 3:00. Given at 11:00PM! The mattress was very painful. On day 3 of mentioning it, they discovered it was put on the bed upside-down. So sorry we ignored you. The food arrives cold — inedible. Salted — she’s on salt free diet. You can go to the dining room, located next to rehab gym, which makes you too sick to eat. They have male personnel attending to her when she uses the restroom. She pressed the ‘call’ button and waited 45 minutes which ended in bed wetting. Humiliating. She pressed the ‘emergency call’ button in the restroom because the attendant left her there. I finally helped her when I arrived…10 minutes later. There is no air, they put a fan by the door. There was no T.V., they brought one on day 3. I could go on but I think I made my point. It is clean, but the rooms look like salvage lots of old hospital equipment. The emotional STRESS of having your mother in emotional stress and crying due to lack of care is beyond reasonable. Their banner over the entrance reads: «South County’s Five Star Facility» Ranked by CMS? Who is CMS and which year? It does not apply today. If you want your loved one to be in good hands at this facility… sit there yourself.

After breaking my leg I was scheduled to arrive there at 4:00 for in house rehab. I arrived at 5:00 and my bed still wasn’t ready. I had to lay out in the hall on a gurney, in pain, till my bed was prepared. I also have asthma and the staff tried to take my inhalers away from me. Too many more complaints to list. This is where you go to die… or they will kill you. I called a friend to come and get me and left within the 1st hour. The place was a joke.

When given a choice between taking my mother to here or Emeritus in San Juan Capistrano, I visited both facilities. I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness and the helpful, friendly staff. My impressions were accurate. Everyone here has genuine concern for my mother and she is receiving the best care. She is treated with patience, respect, and gentle, loving care. Thank you for making a rough transition in life for us and my mother a smoother one.
