My wife and I have been using King’s for over four years on a nearly weekly basis(I have to dress in suits or near suits for work.) They have always been great to work with, always a pleasant greeting and quick at getting our stuff.(Never have to ask our name or for our receipt anymore). Shirts are very good with light starch press, and suits are good. Do I wish they were even more maticulous, probably. And I do wish they would replace worn out buttons without asking. But overall very good and a business I will continue to patronize.

My alteration was not done when promised and then they proceded to charge me double the going rate! Never patronizing here again!

As a petite person, I have to get just about everything I buy tailored, which is a scary thing to risk ruining a new purchase for fit. King’s is great! The woman who does their alterations gets it right every time and does the fittings in record time, which I really appreciate when running a lot of errands. I also bring my dry cleaning here just not as frequently. They have quick turn-around times, even for tailoring. A little bit pricey, but I think that’s just the case for Santa Cruz in general.

my wife thinks these folks do well. I was taking in about 5 – 6 nice dress shirts a week and 1 – 2 dress sweaters that I wear for work spending just over 1000 a year there. 2) things: 1) the cleaning is good. They press the shirts well. sometime the collars aren’t clean which is a pet peeve of mine because there is such an easy solution — use Dawn dish detergent as the pre-cleaner. they are pricey for their work and quality. I’d be happy to pay their price, but for that price — I would want the shirts hand-pressed to touch up the wrinkles and I would want the starch to be light when I ask for light. 2), they lost clothes, not once, but twice. The first time, they gave me the wrong shirt back. So I lost my semi-custom Paul Fredrick shirt, and they wouldn’t replace it, only give me a cleaning credit. 2nd time, they swapped sweaters with another customer– my favorite and best dress sweater. I asked them to call the other customer and get it switched. After 6 weeks of following up the owner finally shrugged his shoulders and said he could only wait for the other customer to come in or call. I suggested he go visit the other customer and offer to pick it up. Shrugged shoulders again. :(If this was a chain, and I was paying ½ the price, i could understand, but this was the owner. I’d use them again, but I’d count my items and only give them my clothes that could get lost. Note, It is my ethic to support local businesses, so I’ve tried them since this experience — still expensive, still good work though nothing exceptional. I need to find a great shirt and dry cleaners in Santa Cruz county.

They ruined my wedding dress. I checked with him very seriously before leaving the dress in his possession, since it had been hand sewn for me by a friend. He assured me that it would be fine and that he was familiar with the fabric. He told me it would take 10 days but when I returned after 10 days it was not ready. Four days later when I went again to pick it up I noticed that the fabric looked funny, stretched in a strange way. When I confronted the owner he told me that it was like that when I brought it in! My husbands vest(which had not been dry cleaned) was made of the same material and I was able to show him the difference between the two garments. He could not argue with the visual facts I was presenting and told me that he was sorry, it had been improperly steam pressed. I was nervous to let him have it again but I let him try to fix it. He was unable to make it look normal again and then angrily refused to give me back my money. He acted condescending and pretended like he did not understand what I was telling him. Do not take anything you care about here!

I am only giving this a star because I don’t know how not too! The gentlemen that owns this place obviously cares nothing of manners nor customer service. After picking up over $ 150.00 due of clothes, I noticed as I was about to walk out one of my $ 170.00 blouses, and how it had been ruined. When I asked about the damage, he argued with me, told me it was like that when I brought it in. While this was all happening, another customer walked in. He told me to hold on, then started chuckling as he made me wait to help another customer. My blouse was ruined I think because in a attempt to remove the 2 sweat stains(one they got out & the other one he said he couldn’t get out) they ran the cleaner to much. This snagged my whole chiffon/silk blouse leaving it looking worn & torn! In addition the blouse was cream and was cleaned with a solution that had touched other colors, leaving it grey an dingy looking. He grabbed my clothes from me when I told him I was unhappy and said I could come back. I was shocked someone would do this. I almost had to fight him to get my garmets back! I gave him exact change and left. I wish there was a consumer site just for dry cleaners as I feel when someone ruins your clothes there is no recourse for scummy business operations like this. I didn’t understand why he wouldn’t give on anything. I don’t want to have to complain that my bloused was ruined. He acted like I was crazy. Truth was they made a mistake, and were to cheap to make amends of any kind. AWFUL!!!

How do my cashmere sweaters love you? let me count the ways… right down to the foil you wrap on my tiny mother of pearl buttons so that they do not get destroyed. And you always take such extra care of my fine silk blouses, and my leather skirt looks as it did the day it was new, all because of you. The people that work here all smile, they even know my name, and somehow always have my clothes ready when they say they will be. You fix any loose buttons, and your prices are oh so fair! When a gal spends so much on timeless classics she wants to enjoy them in her wardrobe for as long as she can, and you understand this with the care you take of my finer things. Thank you King’s Cleaners you are the best!
