Past three times I have eaten here I have found hair in my food. I was very surprised when I still had to pay full price for my hairy meals. I will not be back.

Im up in the air on whether this review needs 3 or 4 stars… Pros: the bakery items looked pretty good(we didn’t get to try any), the lattes we got were great(Cuban and mocha), server was awesome and very friendly(even brought courtesy sliced banana out for my kids to snack on while we waited on food), the food seemed very fresh and homemade with good ingredients. Cons: the flavors weren’t out of this world on the food(exception was the Asian noodle dish I got, veggies were bland but the sauce on the noodles was very flavorful), and prices were a little on the higher side for what you got(my husbands pizza was the same size I think as our kid’s pizza, noodle dish was pretty good price/portion). I would probably tend to come more for the coffee and baked goods(by looks) maybe occasionally a lunch.

I am sitting in the café right now eating their biscuits and soysage gravy. Words can’t express how much I love these place, even though it’s only my first time here. The atmosphere, service, and most of all, the food, is something I wish I could transplant to my home town! So bummed I don’t live in Carbondale so I can come here all the time!

Finding a vegetarian restaurant while I travel can be a struggle at time, but Longbranch is perfectly executed. The décor is warm and inviting, the coffee is expertly made and the food was prepared with care and and attention to flavor(which is sorely lacking in some vegetarian cuisine)… If I was a local this would definitely be a go-to spot. I had the special, a Veggie Gyro, and was not disappointed! Packed with flavor and quite filling! Oh, and don’t forget to try a pastry with your coffee! ;)

Stopped here for a late lunch after a hike in the nearby state park and it was delicious! We got the guac and chips to start, which was tasty and fresh(though guac is a small portion). I got the classic veggie burger and it was hearty, flavorful and held together well. My husband got the veggie fajitas and that was also delicious. The veggies were perfectly seasoned and the beans and rice were also tasty. We ended off with hazelnut and caramel lattes, both of which were yum. Definitely would come back!

I’ve recently relocated to the area, and Longbranch will likely become a regular stop for me. With a relaxed atmosphere and various diet options, my loved ones are easily accommodated. Coffee is good, I’ve tried a few although I can’t remember much specifically. Bulletproof is blended with grass fed butter and it’s quite heavy– an acquired taste. Huevos Rancheros was delicious. Longbranch definitely knows fresh foods, it shines in their produce. My sister is vegan and appreciates the menu very much. We are voting every time we purchase food, and supporting this restaurant is a vote for sustainable living through their business values. Take a minute to read the short blurb on the website about their history. Overall service here has been very good. Once there was a confusion about an order to-go, and another instance led to us being overlooked out on the patio. Don’t let this deter you from the lovely space outside however! During warm months, the patio is a great spot to sit with a book or a friend Where you gonna go? Starbucks? Support D.T. Carbondale and help it grow.

I was staying in Harrisburg for the weekend and this restaurant was about an hour away from the motel, let me just say that it was worth the drive! This was the first vegetarian restaurant I found down south and it was definitely in my top 5. I had the spicy Asian noodles, both my friend and I fell head over heels for it. And not to mention the cheesecake and coffee tasted fresh. I would definitely come back next time I go down south

Vegetarian on 3 week cross-country drive. Went 30 min off route after reading the Longbranch reviews, desperate for an all-veg menu which hasn’t been available since leaving California(soooo tired of Thai, fruit and Chinese). So many great sounding options that choosing was difficult. I ended up ordering the Portobello quesadilla. Best meal since leaving CA! Will definitely come back if ever in area again(or even 30 min away).

If you’re not looking to get sushi this is by far the best place to eat in carbondale, and I’m not even a vegetarian. The veggie burger is amazing, their bakery is top notch and their coffee is solid. Not to mention all of their stuff is local

While on vacation, we pulled out the trusty Unilocal app!!! It never lets us down! We headed into Carbondale to check out this well-reviewed café. Hubby said, «VEGAN!!!» So ok. I admit. We aren’t vegan. Not even close. But hey! This was really good! Hubby got the portobello sandwich. I got the jalapeño vegan burger(recommended!!!) we topped it off with Boston cream pie and red velvet cake. No judging … We were on vacation. The atmosphere was friendly and«old school.» We were really surprised at how happy all the workers were and really enjoyed their job. It showed!!! Kudos to the owners!

As an admitted coffee snob, I had very low expectations for a coffeehouse in Carbondale. I was very pleasantly know knocked out of my socks. The coffee here was amazing. The Will’s Cuban was Cuban coffee perfection. Other than visiting my son, it’s one of the few good things in Carbondale. I’m not a vegetarian but I did enjoy the soysage biscuits and gravy. It tasted very similar to the real thing. I’ve been here several times and the service is always pleasant.

The only restaurant in Carbondale that offers a good selection of vegan and vegetarian items — as it is a vegetarian café. Students be warned — this is not a place to drink coffee and do homework. They do not offer free wifi, and they changed their name from Coffeehouse to Café to prevent squatters. The breakfast is very good and the breakfast specials change every day and are always filling. The biscuits and gravy are Devine– you won’t even notice they’re meatless. The only problem I have with this restaurant is the portion size of the dinner items. It’s not extremely pricey but the price does not fit the portion. In their defense most of their ingredients are all natural and a few are organic. I have eaten at every restaurant in Carbondale and would recommend the Longbranch; especially for breakfast.

Cool spot! If I went to school at SIU, I’d be here all the time. Only had breakfast here before hitting up some nearby wineries. Some other reviews say no credit cards, but now they take them FYI.

Such a treat to have in Southern Illinois! This place has an extensive menu offering local, organic vegetarian fare. Longbranch is a staple in the Carbondale community. Service is quick, friendly, and sassy(the good kind of sassy). I love the coffee here, and their espresso is wonderful(toasty, rich, and NOTBURNT! That’s a big bonus for me). All the baked items I’ve sampled have been excellent and not too sugary/buttery for my tastes – just the perfect balance. I particularly enjoy the breakfast menu, I always order the ninja(biscuit, soysage gravy, eggs, roasted veggies) with a side of beans. It’s the most delicious combination of foods. Anyway, go here. It’s delicious. It doesn’t matter if you’re vegetarian or not, it’s just good food. Plain and simple.
