Have always loved this place. Mu shu pork and Shrimp egg fu yung-unbeatable! That gravy is highly addictive. Their sauces generally have a good garlicky ginger kick and are never gloppy or overly sweet. They seem to use all fresh vegetables, and they have menu items that are a cut above typical takeout Chinese around here, such as yu Choi in tea sauce. I would generally recommend getting a dish that is more than just meat in sauce-their mixed dishes are better. it is always a good sign when you see international students eating there on a regular basis!

If it would’ve let me choose 0 stars I would have. Pickup order took well over an hour to receive. All notifications from the restaurant said order was ready in 30 min. Quoted a busy night and seems the case, however, if you are having a busy night let your customers know that by fixing your texting service to display accurate times of when your meal is ready or actually have someone at the counter to explain the delay in a courteous manner rather than being extremely rude. If you want to keep your name of New Kahala«fast foods» I suggest you make some changes.

Personally my favorite Chinese food in the area, very surprised to see such low reviews. I regularly order delivery and although it may take awhile, my food is always still hot when I get it and vegetables taste fresh and crisp. I also find it very convenient that delivery drivers let you pay at the door with square. Seems a lot easier and more secure than reading numbers over the phone.

First and last time I will ever order here. The worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. #tastelessfood

Every since they moved to new location, the food/service isn’t the same. Every time i order out, something is always messed up. Sometimes its so little and simple as my chicken was not put in a separate container like I asked. So when I got home, all i had was chicken rice veggie slop. Bad experience ¾ times I have been to new location. Guess Ill have to bite the bullet and hang in there until another decent Chinese take out opens in Carbondale because sadly, this is the best for the price or if you don’t want to sit down. If you are wanting a more fine dining or better than your average take-out their are two more places in the area that will impress. *Disclaimer* if you are at all buzzed/drunk, disregard this review and pretend it says 5 star.

This is my favorite restaurant. I have not eaten anything here that I didn’t like. My favorite is the Shrimp Egg Fu Young with fried rice.

Seriously the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Chicken was sort of gray in color and just tasted horrible. My crab rangoon wasn’t awful, but lacked filling. Really upsetting when you have a craving and you can’t even eat your food.

I decided that i would review all places in carbondale. How could i not do that. Its my first home in the usa. Kahala’s it saved the day. Great fried rice, and to make it clear, it was our batch that made the hot oil so famous, they started charging extra 25 cents for it. So the name 25 cent spicy fried rice.. Other dishes were also good. Notable were the scallion and ginger chicken.

Ok, let me start off by saying that I hate giving bad reviews. I’ve been in the restaurant industry my entire life so I always try to give restaurants a second chance in case they were just having an «off» night. Also, in my opinion it’s pretty hard to screw up chinese food, but somehow this place managed to do it. The people working there from the guy answering the phone, to the lady who I spoke with an hour and a half later when my food hadn’t arrived, to the delivery guy who couldn’t find our house were all extremely nice. The up-side pretty much ends there. Frozen chinese food tastes better than what we had. Their chinese chicken wings have absolutely NO flavor what so ever not to mention the batter is thicker than KFC. The sesame chicken was too sweet, which over powered any other flavor(if there was any). The beef fried rice was too salty, but luckily we were given a box of white rice so after mixing the two it wasn’t so bad. The crab rangoon and egg rolls were rock hard, and the filling was nothing to write home about. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, and I’d like to say that I’ll give them a second chance, but more than likely I’ll take my business elsewhere in the future.
