Came on a Friday at 5:30. Posted hours said they were open to 6 pm. But the doors were locked and the people inside gestured that they were closed.

Passing through Carbondale on our way to a back-country ski trip, we stopped in at Ragged Mountain and saved about $ 1,000 by buying some lightly used gear. It can be a little hit or miss to find boots in your size or the right kind of bindings, but we had great luck getting what we needed. The staff was friendly and the prices were great.

I often write just the facts… this time I’ll try to add some spice, or maybe just some herbs(not herb). Really excellent variety of items available here, and I’m sure seasonal too(I was here at the end of winter). I saw some gems in there, just didn’t buy them because I had some self control. I thought the prices were a bit high for some of the items I looked at(a 26″ MTB wheel, ski bench vice, …). I’m sure it depends what you’re getting, but this doesn’t seem to be a rock bottom price point. They do need to pay rent after all… Good selection of climbing shoes, saw some TC Pros in there. There was a C4 #3 in excellent condition — $ 40. Lots of snowboard bags — perhaps you need one to store your gear in the shed for the season? I’d highly recommend this place to you if you’re a local or you’re passing through town!

Ragged Mountain Sports should be your first choice when trying to find outdoor gear for you and your family. All products are discounted to be significantly more affordable than their retail counter parts. I have purchased a pair of Salomon Nordic skis, a Black Diamond alpine touring set up, and numerous articles of clothing. Everything is high quality and in great shape. Ragged also is great for getting gear when you are just starting out. Looking around the shop you could successfully outfit yourself for biking, skiing, hiking, running, kayaking, climbing, and probably just about every other sport you would want to do in the Roaring Fork Valley. On the flip side if you are interested in selling gear it is a great way to make a few bucks. Selling gear at Ragged is much easier than Craigslist and Ebay. I have sold a few things and they rarely last more than a few weeks. Overall I have found the gear, service, and atmosphere to be top notch. Highly recommend swinging by the store once a week/month to see the new gear.

Ragged Mountain is an awesome place to find and sell used gear! They have a sweet selection of ski, climbing, shells, camping gear… anything you could want! They have a real passion for the outdoors and have the knowledge to back it up. Whether you are buying or selling, you know that you will get a great deal! In a valley filled with outdoor industry professionals, they are constantly bringing in new, hot items, so you never know what you are going to find. Don’t forget to play a game of Foosball and play with the cat!

Ragged Mountain Sports is one of my favorite shops in the roaring fork valley! It’s full of used outdoor gear in amazing(sometimes new) condition. If you are looking for incredible deals, this is the place to go. Also, I have been able to sell a ton of my own equipment. It feels good to recycle and know that my gear has a new home(guaranteeing more use than my nasty garage!!!). The store offers a 50 – 50 split, or a 60 – 40 split(60 percent to the consignor) if you want store credit. I never seem to walk out with a check though – there are too many good deals to pass up! The staff are wonderful, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the gear in the store as well as regional adventuring. I was in there on Wednesday and it is absolutely full of spring/summer gear. Get some.

Ragged Mountain Sports is a new used gear/consignment shop specializing in outdoor equipment and apparel. When I was there a lot of the stuff still had the tags on it. They had many of the sticker shock apparel brands like Kuhl and Arc’teryx brand new for significantly less than you can grab them at the outdoor big box store. Right now it’s kind of the«Island of Misfit Outdoor Gear». I did see a copy of a book I just picked up somewhere else. Currently, the shop is pretty empty, but they are taking consignments. Their consignment policy as explained on their web site is 50 – 50 unless the consignor wishes to accept store credit in which case the split is 30 – 70.The owners were pleasant. I look forward to popping in here as they get more stock and perhaps consigning my excess gear.
