Bob’s Discount Furniture

My experience in store actually started out well. I found our salesperson to be friendly and not overbearing. Left store happy with purchase. But then delivery happened and it all went downhill. The sectional I received did not match floor model. The floor model we looked at and purchased had reclining middle seats. The set we received did not. The store actually took a piece from a different 7 piece set and set it up in 6 piece set. Can you say illegal? Misrepresentation at its worst. I want that set that was in store. Customer service was useless basically telling me I was wrong. The only one wrong in this situation is the store for purposely staging their floor models with pieces that aren’t included. You do not get what you pay for at this store. Buyer beware.

Never shop here. Bobs is a horrible place that does not help you out after delivery. If there are any issues with your furniture good luck they won’t help one bit.

I can’t wait til these fucking shysters go out of business for the heartache they have caused to so many decent people.

Look somewhere else everyone. I rather pay extra for furniture than Bob’s Furniture. They have horrible office workers. They can’t get COI correct for delivery. We ordered sectional sofa and delivery truck was right in front of our building BUT since office cannot get the COI correctly (especially apartment unit — the most important fact), our sofa was returned to warehouse. I try to understand that may be it was one time mistake, but no our sofa is scheduled for delivery tomorrow and NO COI is prepared. STILL?
It’s been two weeks since I informed them COI IS REQUIRED– clearly given delivery address… Oh by the way, customer service reps when you call the store for further assistance, give out «different» name so they can disguise themselves from getting in trouble or dealing with clients like ME who is frustrated. (clearly shows poor Customer Service)
If this does not work out by today, I am DONE with Bob’s Furniture. Moved to new apartment week ago, no where to seat because they delaying our sofa…
Bob’s better understand that there are OTHER furniture stores with SAME quality/​shape of sofa I picked out — willing to spend couple more $$$ to get my FURNITURE ON TIME.
Also, sales people there tend to not care of anything but commission. Follow you around while you are eye shopping.
PLEASE stop that, that makes me feel uncomfortable and want to get out of the store.

Total nightmare! I ordered a bed, cleared the room received 4 phone calls it was coming and nothing! I have an empty room, an excited child and no bed. What does Bobs tell me? Sorry computers make mistakes! No help, no care, no customer service!
It has one star because it won’t let me put zero!

My boyfriend bought a black leather couch one week later the back part of it broke and wasn’t even reimbursed for his purchase. Not only is the quality horrible but so are the people that work there. Purchase at own risk.

Purchased a storage bench from here and love the way it looks. Don’t get me wrong, you get what you paid for but I love the quality of it and hope it lasts long.
I’ve heard some bad things about this company when it comes to furniture quality but I really do like my bench and it goes perfectly with my room.

My roommate and I went in looking for a love seat. Since we’re moving into a tiny NYC apartment, a love seat is all that fits in the living area. We were approached by a number of sales associates, all of whom were extremely uninterested in helping us. One associate just walked away in the middle of our conversation. Another one didn’t even walk us around the furniture gallery. Instead, he just pointed to a distant corner where we could potentially find a love seat of our requested dimensions. We were ready to buy a love seat we really liked, but instantly changed our minds and walked out when we realized the salespeople could care less about helping us.
I totally get that a love seat isn’t as big of a sale as a dining room set or a bedroom set, but come on!!! A customer is a customer and you should NEVER treat one the way my roommate and I were treated.

The absolute worst place to shop. I ordered something since October 2015 and we are not in the end of February and I still don’t have a delivery date. I would never recommend anyone to purchase something from there.

Bob’s is good for what it is — cheap. ESPECIALLY, with this store, you get what you pay for. The management team, John Barra and Anthony Hurtado and the sales associate Matthew Weiner have provided me with service so bad, so incredibly disrespectful, that it is now a long-​running joke with my family and friends. There is even an office pool at my company to see how many months it will take them to fix a mistake they put on an order I paid for in October of 2015! The highest bid is currently at $ 256 for the month of May 2016. I had ordered, and paid, for a sofa on Oct 5,2015 and like many people who buy things for a new apartment, realized it did not fit once it got there.
I called, said I would like to switch it, and they said absolutely no problem they would have a new one to me within a couple of days. And thus starts the nightmare — the first attempt at re-​delivery, Oct 31, 2015 didn’t happen. Matt assured me it would be fine, and the day of the man on the truck shows up with the wrong pieces. This happens a 2^nd and 3^rd time. The office pool started around the third time there was a mistake that was not fixed as I had
TAKEN THE DAY OFF WORK for my delivery (mind you, I was never paid for that day taken off).
The man that showed up to me house showed up with a mattress! instead of a couch!
The story at this point was comical, and thus began the betting, all peppered with my incessant phone calls to both the back office and to Matt Weiner and the management team at the store. Now the items were on backorder, but because the management team either 1. doesn’t get paid enough to actually care or 2. just doesn’t care nothing was really done and again, people showed up to my doorstep with wrong items.
Today drew the last straw though, when I once again got a call from the Bob’s back office to confirm my delivery for Saturday. They told me the items I would be getting are the exact items that are already in my house. I said this was a mistake and if they could please switch it to the correct order I would be grateful.
They told me this was not possible, I would have to call the store that I placed the order with. I do so, and am put on the phone with John Barra who tells me on his computer screen everything is right. I inform him of the historical competency of his company and ask him to please make sure with back office that they will do it correctly. He told me” There’s nothing I can do, the guy was probably just lookin somewhere wrong… we don’t so things like talk to back office I can’t guarantee anything”. Anthony Hurtado told me something similar. I paid and requested for this on Oct. 5. 2015. It’s 4 months later. My coworkers are laughing over my shoulder as I type this — we all work in finance on Wall St in NY, and we are waiting for the day for Bob’s to IPO so we can short it. Bob’s, either pay your employees more so they yano, care about ANYTHING, or hire people who can bring results to problems. If you HAVE to go to Bob’s, steer clear of this store for the love of God and specifically from the individuals listed because I promise you they won’t do anything but talk.

Was a bit hesitant since Bob’s doesn’t have good ratings on Unilocal overall, but my experience at this location was pretty good. Sales person, Florence, made her introduction when she saw us lingering in the dining section for a bit. She pointed us to the free coffee and candy and then left us alone until we were ready to approach her with questions. We purchased the Bristol dining set quickly and without issues. She did try to push the goof proof extended warranty a couple times but I refused. $ 100 for 5 years to cover everything she said it covers, which when described, is everything, seems like too good of a deal. To me, this means that the insurance company already has the necessary statistics compiled to determine that they get few enough cases that this $ 100 is pure profit or good luck trying to get them to pay for fixes when you really need them.
Delivery experience was also good. Had no issues rescheduling, they came on time, lined my floor with a protective mat while they put together the dining set, cleaned up and then left. Don’t expect super effort cleaning though. They removed the boxes but those annoying little styrofoam pieces you still have to clean up yourself.
As for the furniture itself, I am happy with the look and initial quality. I’ve only had it for one week so can’t comment on long term quality.

Good olé Bob’s. Lol so I feel like depending on what you’re looking for you can be either very happy or very disappointed with what you get here.
You can’t come into Bob’s looking for high quality anything. It’s a discount store for a reason. The prices are so low because of the quality you end up getting.
Don’t get me wrong, it may LOOK very nice and beautiful. (Especially in the showroom) But that doesn’t mean it will last or that when you get it it’s what you expected.
Beware of the sales reps and their tactics. Take your time and be careful. Bob’s does not ever give money back. Store credit only. Think about that. If you do decide on something, inspect it upon arrival and note it; as well as call customer service immediately so they can rectify.
The most important fact is that: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
At the end of the day if you’re looking for something cheap or temporary then hell yes. Come to Bob’s. But if this is for your home and you want it to last for years to come then I would be cautious with my selection and/​or look elsewhere and spend the necessary extra bucks to get what you need.

Been here twice, received great customer service, and we’re both happy with the pieces we bought. Ask for Offie.
Came to Bob’s looking for a bed frame. The girlfriend’s bed was too small for both of us (read: she kept kicking me at night), so we decided to buy a queen size mattress from Leesa. That of course means we needed a new bed frame. We went to Bob’s as my sister had suggested it and that worked out well for her.
This particular Bob’s is nice in that it has great parking. It’s in a strip mall with a Panera, Petco, and some other businesses, but that just means that you don’t have to spend time looking for parking. Inside is a great showroom. We’ve been to Ashley Furniture, the Macy’s Discount showroom, and a few others, but Bob’s was far-​and-​away the best showroom. In the back, you’ll find a little café with cookies, coffee, and ice cream. Why? Why not!
As soon as we got inside, we had no less than three sales folk come up to us offering their assistance. The girlfriend doesn’t like that, but I’m all about it. Just cause they come up to you doesn’t mean you have to buy anything; I’m not about to be pressured. I don’t know anything about bed frames though so I actually wanted the help. We decided to go with Offie. She was exceptionally nice and didn’t pressure us at all. She showed us their options and patiently explained the benefits of each. At the end of the day, I decided to give Bob’s our business from our positive experience. We like the bed frame very much, or at least as much as you can like a bed frame.
Fast forward a 6mo and now we’re looking for a good coffee table. We wanted a table to serve as a coffee table and as a dinning table to entertain guests. We tried everywhere, but couldn’t find what we were looking for. Enter Bob’s! They had, the Adirondack table. It’s a coffee table that also has four nesting stools inside of it. It’s wood, it’s slate, it’s perfect. We wanted to get it then and there, but Offie wasn’t around. We went back the next day, when Offie was working, so that we could give her the full commission on the sale. That’s how much we liked her.
Delivery
Delivery was fast and easy. They were very accommodating to our building’s delivery time window. The guys that brought the table over were fast and professional. They seemed determined to get their work done quickly, but efficiently, and made sure that I was happy with the result before leaving.
I cannot recommend Bob’s enough. I’m not going to lie to you and say that their furniture is like Ethan Allen, but the stuff is good and after two positive experiences, I’ll be back for more as the need arises.
Ask for Offie.

Seriously. Fuck this place. The sales people are rude, and about as useless as they get. Soni ordered online which was pointless because this shitty store STILL handled it. Then I get the couch, it’s just shy of fitting. I offer to remove the bannister so they can snug it uo against the wall and get it up, but NOPE, the guy wouldn’t even try it. Before the one guy could get customer service on the phone, they had already re packaged it, and by the time she was done asking my name it was already back on the truck. They put in a very impressive 15 min of work between unpacking and their one attempt to get up the stairs. And this is after i took a day off off work AND they just randomly showed up at 7, with no heads up. Do yourself a favor and don’t purchase anything from them. Ever. What a fucking waste.

Horrible customer service, worst people to deal with. They don’t know how to even communicate contracts with clients or even rectify situations as they come up due to the horrible craftsman ship of their furniture. This way you shop at boutique or non franchise furniture stores you have more of w personal relationship and if anything goes wrong you won’t get the run around. I have furniture delivered that was damaged and then got told a month to pick up to exchange, meanwhile I asked to be credited delivery fee and no satisfaction was given after I stayed home for this furniture that now has to be replaced. George the manager has no skills he might as well manage a Wendy’s fast food joint.

To get me to spend time to write a review, a place has to be pretty damn shitty. Bobs certainly fits the bill. The sales staff are lying sleezeballs who will tell you whatever you want to hear to make a sale. The furniture quality is horrendous and warranties are not upheld. If they tell you when they make a delivery, they will take out your old furniture, dont believe them. The only thing positive I can say about Bobs is the free ice cream.

Worst quality products!!! I bought $ 1500 sofa as leather sofa but its surface peeled off after 2 years.

After reading such terrible reviews not only here, but also in other legitimate sources online I was completely horrified. I was looking to buy furniture for my living room (first timer). I was really excited about everything, but there was something that just kept me thinking «why is the prices here significantly lower than at other furniture stores.» This is definitely a question to keep in mind. All in all, the staff is excellent, the quality seems alright at first glance but based on other reviews and people’s real life experiences it is probably best to invest more $$ on better quality furniture.

Awesome experience as usual. I have dealt with bob’s furniture at this location for quite a while. Every experience was great. This time was exceptional !!! My wife and I were struck with a dilemma when an additional piece to our daughter’s bedroom set (a trundle) was discontinued, and was no longer in stock at any warehouse. We had purchased the bed itself back in February, and thought we had enough time to get the trundle, prior to this happening. We then proceeded to ask for the floor model since it was discontinued… Turns out they did not have that either on their showroom floor…
Our sales agent/​customer care rep at the desk was Amy. She went over and beyond for us in calling 5 other locations around New York to try and find a store that would have the trundle and be willing to sell us just that piece alone. She found one location that had it on the floor… and with the help of a manager, George, got us the trundle.
I also would like to thank another manager, Clint, for his further assistance.

It’s our first time here in Bob’s furniture and I must say the sales people here are so pleasant and they assist you without you having to feel pushed. Me and my hubby want to commend Joab, a sales associate who helped us here today in choosing the right gel matress. He explained everything very well and made us aware of so many ways/​methods of payment. We need to change our leather sofa as well in the future (which we regretfully purchased from Bloomingdales) and we definitely are coming back here for it.
