My wife and I ate here twice on a recent trip to Carlisle. The food was really good and what you would want in a good diner. It was very clean and the wait staff were friendly and the service was prompt.

A hometown favorite, the Fairgrounds Diner serves quality food at a reasonable price. The service is quick too! Any diner worth my time has to have two well-done staples: breakfast food and a Monte Cristo sandwich. Their sausage gravy and biscuits are out of this world and the Monte Cristo is on par with the best I’ve ever had(including homemade). My wife gets a breakfast platter with French toast, eggs, bacon, and toast that is an incredible amount of food for the money you pay. We’ve personally never had a bad experience here and recommend this diner to anyone for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

i usually frequent this diner when the car shows are in town. expected the owner to invest in décor after these years but physical upgrades in décor. the carpet has been replaced that hides stains. the service is very slow with more than 6 customers. The pictures in the menus don’t match actual appearances. I can’t eat hash browns even stating clearly no hash browns, they brought it back, more hash browns, hello NO hash browns. Once that was straightened out, the eggs were very salty, bacon was weak, almost dry, sausage was brittle

Great for breakfast and lunch. Nothing fancy just good and fresh. Servers are also very friendly, Amy is the best of them all!

I tried the Fairground Diner today. I have heard good things. The parking lot was full and the place was busy but I got a sea right away. The staff are friendly and judging by the use of first names it seems to have a lot of regulars. The prices are good, 2 eggs, fries, toast and meat starting at $ 4.15 must make it one of the chepest breakfast in town. The biscuit and sausage gravy was $ 5.50, so based on price I thought it would be good, real home made sausage gravy. It wasn’t it was either canned or packaged by Sysco. The sausage was just flakes. There was no sausage or even sausage taste. I guess the price is high to discourage people from ordering it, as it must be hard on the chef to open the can or bag. My scrapple was good. Like Momma Spriggs I think they deep fry it as it was very hot and had the crispy bark. The home fries were good. I think this is a good place for 2 eggs meat and potatoes but certainly not for sausage gravy, and probaly not chipped beef. Sauage gravy is so easy to make, pity thay can no tmake the effort.

I’m here every other week for breakfast and always get the 2 egg special… substitute grits for hash browns and add grilled onions to the eggs. It’s typical diner fare and service. Nothing really special.
