We are very glad to experience this magnificent frozen yogurt. Both of the employees dabbed on the spot. This shows very good preparedness and will keep me coming here for a while.

We decided to walk down with the family. It was only 20 – 30 minutes away. The kids were restless. I had a coupon but when presented the attendent she said it needed a symbol to scan. She could see it was valid, within the dates needed, and for $ 20 worth of yogurt. She refused it and I paid $ 15 so the kids were satisfied. I get that she may not have the authority to go beyond what she has been told but she was so uncaring and somewhat smug about it that I’ll never be back. It’s may be true that minimum wage often gets minimum service. Too expensive to return.

Really? «We close in half hour» so the toppings you pay full price for AREN’T available? They are cleaning machines and«closing» with us inside? Bad customer service… Where’s the quality control here?

Golden Spoon is my number one choice in frozen yogurt. The flavors are delicious and they have a variety of toppings to compliment your co and tasty treat. Plus you can get a frequent visitors card where after 7yogurts you get your 8th free! So awesome!

So the Internet was down on this visit… Instead of doing the common sense thing and manually taking credit card numbers, the employee just went«duh the Internet is down sorry». 4 people turn around and walked out. No business. This is the new world. Welcome to not enough brains to do something manually.

I like the interesting flavors like Taro and other exotics. The vanilla is good as is the old-school choc-vanilla swirl. My roommate is a MAD chocolohlic! And GS does it all! Always at least 3 cool chocolates plus the swirl… The self serve lets her fill this magic chocolate cup until it overruns the plastic top… I buy just to watch her in action!!! A medium, for $ 4, gives me a serving plus one for later in the week. Not bad. She can nail the whole $ 5 in one sitting… Thank goodness for the punch card! Well, all workout queens deserve a little goodness. She never gains an ounce!

This location was clean and had good service. They charge a flat fee for the cup size you get. It’s a little more for toppings. They do not charge by wt which is what a lot if other places do. Most of the toppings were fresh except the raspberries all looked smashed. Get a punch card if you are a frequent flyer. Price is low to average compared to other places. They have a lot of choices of topping and yogurt.

The yogurt is nice and creamy. The girl working there is great. We had a two year old with us and she was very good and patient. I did not think there were enough topping choices.

I like this place, many gluten free choices and flavors taste good. They also offer coupons for kids at our elementary school and do fund raising. The only negative is that their flavors are redundant sometimes. Two different vanillas and peanut butters, but no sorbet and the only two fruits are berries. I wish they had more variety.
While Golden Spoon has changed how they operate to compete with other frozen yogurt places, they still have awesome flavors and good prices. My wife and I usually stop here after shopping at Sprouts. They sell the yogurt by the pint for not very much money which is a great deal. They have more than a dozen flavors and all the ones I have tried have been good. I really like the coffee styles. Overall this is a nice place.

I live right across the street and love frozen yogurt. I gotta say this is probably the worst frozen yogurt I’ve ever had. EVER. Horrible topping, very very dirty store, very rude employees and also way overpriced for the quality of yogurt you’re getting. When I want that frozen yogurt quiet time, I’ll make the drive to froyo or something comparable to that. Golden spoon is at the bottom for sure.

This is hands down the best froyo place in all of North County! Golden Spoon has the texture and creaminess of ice cream without being too heavy. It is the perfect frozen yogurt. And this location in particular is special because it is self serve. You buy a size. Either small, regular, or large, and then let them now if you want any toppings, and then you get to add whatever you can fit into your cup. They have a dry topping bar, a refrigerated topping bar, and a variety of flavors, ranging from Mai Tai, to devil’s food cake, to Gingerbread. All of the flavors are so delicious, even the more exotic ones. If you’re in the area, definitely come here!

You can freely taste and fill up your yogurt and topping as you like– cups are prepaid! No scale in sight! Go at it ;)

When will the price increases stop!!! I had to stop buying frozen yogurt before I went broke. Before they switched over to self-serve, I came into Golden Spoon(either this one or the now extinct one on Avenida Encinas) every single Monday to take advantage of the 4 smalls for $ 10 deal. I stuck them in my freezer and enjoyed a frosty treat every weeknight, Monday-Thursday. It was bliss. Then the one on Avenida Encinas closed and the La Costa one turned self-serve. I don’t really mind serving myself per-say(because, let’s be honest, I can swirl fro-yo like a pro), but getting rid of the 4 for $ 10 deal and the $ 3 small altogether was rough. One finger snap and my fro-yo costs went from $ 2.50 to $ 4 a bowl. Sure, they justified it by saying we could have all the toppings we want, but for someone who never really bought them anyway, that meant very little. But at $ 4 a bowl, I had to start piling on the toppings in order to justify the cost. I also had to significantly cut back on the number of times I visited. In fact, post renovation, I think I’ve only been there about once a month. And then, as soon as they got me hooked on the toppings, WA-BAM they raise the price again! A medium with toppings is now $ 5. FIVEDOLLARS. For one serving of frozen yogurt. That’s insane! Sure, Golden Spoon is the best. Hands-down. But when I can feed my entire family dinner for the cost of one frozen yogurt, it’s gone too high. Time to dust off the ice cream maker and start making my own damn yogurt.

Golden Spoon is by far the best tasting frozen yogurt around, but I am not sure how I feel about the new set up, where you pay a flat price and serve yourself. I liked being served. I didnt have to touch things that kids had their grubby little hands on, and they always did a great job piling the toppings on, and I loved the toppings in the bottom of the cup method. They do have a «concierge service» where the person working there will compile your yogurt for you, but I feel like a loser when I ask, cause I just have to stand there while they go and fill it up alongside other customers and I end up feeling like a jerk. 5 stars for yogurt flavor, 1 star for the new set-up, so a 3 star average seems appropriate here.

Golden Spoon has the best tasting non-fat frozen yogurt on the market. It’s insanely delicious and I often wonder if my ass will be the size of Mount Rushmore after eating it… it’s THAT good. Now, I may be a bit biased because I worked for Golden Spoon years ago but I think all of my points are objectively valid and of course, like any business, there are rooms for improvement and GS is no exception. Golden Spoon also now has a revolutionary concept, otherwise known as weightless pricing — MAJORPRO for consumers, risky for business but risk sometimes pays off and every innovation is a risk. Ultimately, this may work or it may not, I’m not sure yet. This is a new thing they have but I think it’s quite interesting and has a high potential to really take the business, as well as the yogurt industry, to the next level. However, I do think that slight adjustments MUST be incorporated in order for the concept to succeed past the first phase of «life», if you will. With weightless pricing, you have two options: yogurtland style self-serve or you can do it old school and have an employee build your cup for you. I recommend doing it yourself if you want the biggest bang for your buck(for business purposes, GS will need to start monitoring their customers because I saw several take advantage of this new concept) but if you are watching your waistline, absolutely let an employee do it for you — it’s very easy to OVER serve yourself, trust me. GS employees are trained to portion out the yogurt… you are not. Logic would tell you to hand it over to the pros in that case, then. Another facet of the concept is no more weighing and no more scale. You pay upfront so say you want a small size, you pay your $ 4 and you can GOTOTOWN. You can swirl it like a sky scraper, if you want — the price does not change. That said, on the business end, this may cause loss of product and thus, loss of profit for the company and it may easily spiral out of control if slight adjustments are not incorporated soon. During my visit there, I saw several people pay $ 4 for a small and then serve themselves an OBSCENE amount of yogurt. They easily piled on a 20 oz. portion and fled the scene with absolutely no ramifications. GS will need to come up with some sort of ethical guideline to prevent this from ruining a perfectly good concept. The concept being freedom from the scale(which is BRILLIANT) but this should not lend itself to product theft. There has to be a middle way where people don’t take advantage of the system in such an OVERT way. It can work without having to lose profit but there MUST be rules enforced, bottom line. One analogy that I can compare to this situation would be free samples. If the same customer was coming every day and trying each flavor for free and asking for«generous samples», day after day, you wouldn’t abolish free samples but you would set boundaries on how that practice is operated and utilized. The same applies to weightless pricing. It should also be noted that the service at this location has several very conversational and competent servers. The DM for the company is also a super awesome dude. One last note: Golden Spoon, please bring back the old calorie count of 17/oz…the flavors are now 25−30/oz which adds up fast and makes it no less of a more weight-conscious option than it’s competitors. Back to the new concept/layout, this new version of Golden Spoon is intriguing and I think it has great potential to trend and take over the yogurt world. That said, they need to lay down the law on freeloaders before they ruin a good thing.

Decided to make a pit stop for froyo after«Burger Night» with the gang. Although I really like the froyo here, I miss the self serve concept and mixing the froyos together. Here, you pick the size, the flavor and toppings you want and it gets served to you. What if I want more oreo cookie crumbs or more fudge??? Oh well… I rarely come here anyways. The people who work here don’t seem to be all too friendly. Didn’t even ask about stamping the frequent buyer card or offer a card. I always get chocolate with oreo cookies. I did try the Peanut Butter, which was ok, and the Peanut Butter Cup, which was better than the PB. For a regular with 1 topping, expect to spend about $ 4 – 5.

Long before the recent froyo craze, there were really two yogurt places that come to mind: Heidi’s Frogen Yozurt and Golden Spoon. The new froyo places are merely noobs in the history of froyo. GS has daily flavors and the toppings are pretty standard, but they do lack the mochi topping that Green Mango offers. Alas, I substituted for jelly beans and yogurt toppings. Yeah, there’s a bit of irony there. The«tart mango» flavor was«tart» which was more like that known mango flavor but enhanced(bionics for your palate). What wasn’t so hot: jelly beans. Jelly beans and froyo is like chewing with a mouth full of teeth. They freeze up and get hard. I’m not a fan for chewing on anything hard. Wait for it. I’ll be back to not get jelly beans, but to be sure to visit on Double Stamp Mondays(double stamps for your purchase on your frequent buyers card) and 2 for 1Tuesdays. Who wants to be my pal on Tuesday?
