Not sure what to say about this place. First the good: Nice ambience outside, especially for families. Good waitress service Now, the bad The Pasta Fagioli was basically tomato sauce with pasta, carrots and beans in it. This is not soup! It was a paste. Disgusting The Bruschetta is horrible. Soggy bread with cheese melted on it and it is covered in olives(even though there are no olives mentioned on the menu). My lasagna was ok, but it was drowned in marinara. The sauce was pretty thick and heavy FYI My 4 yr old son’s pizza came out 5 – 10 mins after the rest of our meals. Usually kids meals come out first. By the time he got his food he was ready to go home Overall we were pretty disappointed with Gregorio’s. Sub standard food at best. At least our waitress was pleasant

I normally don’t start out with 5 stars… But this place is legit. Brandy was our server and she was amazing! My girlfriend had the halibut with lemon and capers… With gnocchi with tomato ball garlic… fish was awesome… I had the Sicilian chicken with twisted pasta with vodka sauce… Freaking of the chart delicious! The bread was super fresh… plenty of oil and balsamic vinegar… just like i like it! My first time here… Definitely will be back soon to try the bacon wrapped scallops. Thanks Brandy for the great service.

Came here for date night with the hubby and we were pleased with the service and food. Our server was kind and attentive, we were splitting a pasta dish and before asking our server to bring an extra plate, she brought our good on 2 separate plates without having to ask:). We also had the pizza and it was DELICIOUS, WE will be back.

Gnocchi soup is fantastic, eggplant parmigiana is very good, save room it is a huge portion.

It’s a nice place in «downtown» Carlsbad village. a bit expensive for lunch, sadly it’s the same menu(almost) and price as diner. Wait staff is attentive but you need to make yourself known to them so they don’t forget you on a very busy night… The food can be very nice, but they do have days when things go wrong, so don’t be afraid to not eat what you order and they gladly give you another selection at no cost…

Awesome outdoors patio and small bar inside to have a glass of wine or watch tv while you eat. Dishes were a little pricy I thought for what you got but the two pasta dishes that I have had were good. Ok but not great,

The thin crust Italian pizza was delicious and the pasta was Fantastic! The service is top drawer and the employees are very friendly! They offer a wide variety of Italian dishes. This is easily one of the the best restaurants in town, and one year they reportedly donated all their profits to boys and girls club! Love the large outdoor patio and second floor views!

I love this place, the food is fantastic, the service is great, whenever I have friends or relatives visiting from out of town I make sure to bring them here. Also, they register with but their coupons sell out so quickly you need to jump on them when you can!

This is a place we always one when we need our Italian«fix». It’s not a fancy place, but the food is good, it’s a good value, and the location is great. Pizzas are great, pasta is good, and the sausage and peppers are pretty close to the real deal. We usually come with friends or on the spur of the moment when we don’t feel like cooking.

I keep forgetting about Gregorio’s. It’s upstairs in the outdoor mall behind the old Twin Inns, and I never remember that it’s there — and has been for the last 20 years! That sort of longevity should tell you something right there. Sometimes, when you’ve had too much Macaroni Grill, you forget what real Italian food is like. Gregorio’s is the real deal, friends. My wifey and I were downtown on a Saturday midday and she remembered Gregorio’s, so we went up for lunch and were immediately seated at one of the outdoor tables overlooking Carlsbad Boulevard. The waiter was very attentive, brought us drinks and menus immediately and treated us like royalty. The food was SOGOOD I stuffed myself; my wife and I shared an antipasto salad; I had an Italian Cold Cut sandwich that was so good and so big that I stuffed myself rather than take half home. I’ve seen some not-so-kind reviews here, so maybe it does depend upon what you get. I do intend to go back, and if anything changes I’ll let you know — but what I experienced this time out was really great and we enjoyed our midday lunch above the rush very much.

On the bright side, our waitress was very nice and bumps them up to a 2 star rating. The location is also cool. I’ve seen people bash this place in their reviews by comparing it to Olive Garden. Well, Olive Garden gives you infinite complementary bread/soup/salad, as opposed to Gregorio’s charging $ 5 for garlic bread. I wouldn’t go here again even if pretending to be an Italian food snob was my thing. The quality of the pasta that my girlfriend and I got was pretty mediocre, and not justified for the price. It felt like something we could have made at home for a quarter of the cost. It was one of the rare occasions in which she didn’t take leftovers. Inside, the restaurant smelled a ton like oysters if you’re into that sort of thing. Overall, pretty disappointing.

If your idea of good Italian food brings to mind Olive Garden, Gregorio’s will suit you just fine. Tourists love this place and it’s usually quite busy, located as it is in Carlsbad Village near the beach. Some out-of-town family members love this place, so when we get together, it’s usually here. Large portions of mediocre food, although the bread is always good. Service is attentive and friendly, prices are reasonable considering the food quality. You could do worse if you’re craving something smothered in something else for dinner.

We have been here several times over the years but my first review. I feel like its one of those places where it depends what you order. Maybe decent for a pizza place but not much beyond. Last night I ordered The ‘rosemary’ chicken salad and was so disappointing. The chicken was bland with no trace of rosemary. I remember it being a lot better. Bring back the old dish or change the name to bland chicken salad. The entire salad would have made a better veggie tray and was difficult to eat. Stupid up charge for gorgonzola… if the salad needs it then serve it as such, it’s not like adding a protein justifying the up charge. The sausage on the side or with the onions and peppers is pretty good. Wine list leaves a bit to be desired. Meatball is chef boy ardee. I’m not convinced most of the menu isn’t frozen. Service is good and they are nice. Another benefit is it seem like you can always get a table. I won’t be in a hurry to go back but would stick to the pizza next time.

I came here for a dinner double date on a Friday night. My friend ordered the sliders as an appetizer, which I didn’t have but he said were really good. When the entrees arrived, it was kind of a different story. My fiancé said his chicken parmesan was tasty, but the other 3 of us were disappointed. I ordered a pasta dish with clams(which I think cost $ 16), and it came swimming in so much clam juice/olive oil that it spilled on the table when the waitress set it down(totally not her fault) and although I tried to eat it as neatly as I could, it splashed all over my blouse(getting oil stains out is really tough, I’ve had to retire that shirt). Service was perfectly fine, and when we mentioned that we were disappointed the waitress offered to comp us for dessert. The tiramisu was really tasty, although my friends didn’t really like the caramel cake they got. This place seems really hit and miss. For the price and the experience we had, I wish we had gone somewhere else. We probably won’t go back.

Came here on a motorcycle with a date late sunday night. Just rode by it coming from ocean beach and decided to stop and eat. It was slow so no problems with service. We both thought the food was great and the spinach dip was the best we have ever had. I dont recall the servers name but she was great and went above and beyond to pack our left overs in tiny to go containers so we could shove them under our jackets and take them home(no other way on a motorcycle with out storage). For that i give this place 5 stars, she was very friendly and helped out the best she could. We were ready to let the delicious left overs get thrown out.

Long wait. We ordered lasagna and it was mostly ricotta cheese. We had to pay extra for meat sauce, but the sauce wasn’t great. Would not get it again. We also shared the antipasto salad. The vinegrette was good, but the veggies were huge chunks and there was just a few slices of some kind of fatty meat. Neither of these are worth ordering again. We will definitely try a different place for Italian next time.

I have some dining gift certificates and one of the locations was Gregorio’s, we’ve been meaning to come in for a while, and we will be back. Had dinner last weekend there, it was my boyfriend and I and his 14 year old daughter. We sat on the patio as there were heaters. Seemed like our server was a little behind, she seemed to have a lot of tables all at once, but it wasn’t a big deal. We got the bread everyone raves about, it was good… we ordered calamari as well. It was ok, nothing to wrote home about, just normal. I had the Mushroom Scallops dish, it was excellent. I only ate half and the other half was delicious the next day too. The man had the Shrimp with Spicy Tomato Cream Sauce, the girl had some sort of corkscrew pasta with a vodka sauce and added chicken… she saw it going to someone else’s table and asked for that. Service was good, she got her tables under control and was available when we needed drinks, etc. We will return. I have one more of the gift certificates. It was about $ 125 pre-tip, pre-gift certificate for our bill, one appetizer, 3 entrees, wine, beer.

My husband and I moved down to Carlsbad about a year ago and this is our favorite spot. It’s almost comforting going there. It’s a super cozy home style Italian restaurant with great service and food. Joel, the bartender is super friendly and personable and works hard to make everyone feel welcome. We love everything on the menu. Our favorites are the soups and the pasta emilia– super big proportions(even the small). The business proceeds go to Carlsbad Boys and Girls Club so even more reason to eat here. Highly recommend!
