I can’t get enough of this place, it is so good, so mom & pop. Everything is fresh and made to order. The bean! and cheese burritos and hard shell tacos are my favorite, but you cannot go wrong. Everything I’ve had has been delicious. A local gem!

Great AAA customer service. We showed up at 6:03 and they had closed at 6:00 cleaned up the grill and getting ready to shut the doors. He said come on in and they would make us what we wanted. The carne asada was fresh and tender. And the rice was amazing. Will definitely be back for more !!

This place has everything required for 5 stars. Convenience, great price, very friendly staff and the most important, great food. I highly recommend the bacon, egg and potatoes burrito. The bacon is crispy and the portion is ample. I eat here once a month and its always great food.

On a recent quest for the best chicken tamale in the Carlsbad and vicinity areas, Lola’s came out tops! Give them a try.

The chilaquiles were delicious! next time I’ll see if they can make it with some egg for breakfast! The rice and beans were so good and I’m glad I got the side salad with tomato and sour cream because put it on top. the flavor was so good, I loved everything about it I will definitely be back!

Used to like it. Not anymore. Their breakfast burritos and beans are awesome! Like, really good. The fish tacos simply have sour cream on them. No special fish taco sauce which can really make the taco so I’d avoid them. I’ve ordered non-breakfast burritos here and stopped. They’re VERY small and overpriced because of it. Why two stars? Got food and salsa to go once and saw them fill up my to go salsa with the squirters they put on the tables for those dining in. I’ve also taken salsa to go before and walked home(10 minutes), and it smelled like vinegar by the time I got home. Threw it out. My main issue though is their insistence on making you take plastic bags. I no longer go as it doesn’t matter which of the older generation of women is behind the counter. I have to spend a minute telling them I have two hands and am perfectly capable of carrying food in them without leaving a larger carbon footprint on the planet. And multiple times its insisted I take one after I’ve repeatedly said I don’t want a flippin bag. The last time I was told«Well, the customer is always right even when they’re not». I don’t want to be right. I just don’t want a bag and don’t want to argue over it. Because of that, my wife and I no longer go there. Bummer.

I have STRUGGLED to find great mexican food in Carlsbad. I finally made it a point to stop into Lola’s for lunch and I am go glad that I did. hands down BESTMEXICAN in Carlsbad. My ultimate test for mexican places are the beans and the enchilada sauce. At Lola’s, both were slam dunks! Everyone who worked there was so hospitable and helpful. I cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. The cheese enchiladas, beans, and salad hit the spot! I will make sure order a side of chips next time!

Great place for quick bite of Mexican food. The place is always crowded, and the staff is always friendly. I tried the carne asada burrito today. It was delicious. They also have tamales on the menu. I typically get my tamales from a guy named Jose who hangs around my local grocery store. I will see how it compares next time.

This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant on the planet. Not only for the amazing food but the even more amazing people. Such a great local spot. I have been coming here since I was a little girl. It’s so nice to walk in and the people know your name and really care about you. Love love love.

hard to imagine it’s been five years since i wrote my first LOLA’s review. going there has become an after-weekend-soccer-games tradition at our house. wonderful warm, family vibe. everybody who works there knows us. heck, half the people eating there on any visit — an ever changing cast of mostly locals — know us. this is the quintessential mom-and-pop, neighborhood place. the kids get bean and cheese burritos. the wife gets bean, cheese and egg. as much as i like bean and rice, i do stray from time to time to fish or carnitas or even carne asada. the food is tasty and comforting. but more importantly, it’s soulful. i’ve eaten at starred MICHELIN restaurants. LOLA’s doesn’t aspire to those heights. everything on the menu is straight forward — plain and simple. a meal here is not life changing but it is life affirming. this is not just food to warm your belly — it’s food to warm your heart.

Small Bean and Cheese Burrito. Ive been eating here since 09′, its a secret locals spot that surfers and skaters alike have indulged in for years. Mexican food can be rated by its beans. Are they homemade? Do they taste like they put some love into it? Grab a couple of these small burritos, a jarritos and your good to go hit the beach! Oh yeah, they’re red and green hot sauce is to die for. It is pure bliss!

I know I have high reviews, but this is my favorite restaurant OFALLTIME. Every time I get a small bean and cheese burrito and Ramune, which they recently started to sell. Henry knows every ones name within a few days, as well a the rest of the staff. This place is like a second home to me. It is like a family, for me, and everyone in the neighborhood.

Moved from Fresno to Carlsbad recently, and I’ve been looking to find a new local taqueria, and Lola’s has been a dream come true. Family run, delicious food, community oriented, this place is just plain amazing. Bought Lola’s shirts for all of my eccentric pals for Xmas, and I’ll take them all here when they come to visit. Amazing taqueria, great family vibe here. Do it.

My husband introduced me to Lolas a few years ago. I never even knew it was there. He was/is a regular.(In the Military and he is not stationed here) He has been coming here for about 15 years and they still know who is he and what he orders. That’s the kind of woman(and man) who work here. So friendly and amazing. I finally ordered something new the other day the cheese enchiladas and my goodness was it amazing. I can not wait to return and get more. And their green sauce is to die for. My husband is deployed currently and I asked him the other day what he would like me to bring him for lunch when I pick him up and he said«Lola’s» The food here is so good! Love this spot and the people who work here. It’s a real neighborhood place.

I moved to Carlsbad Village area a little over a year ago(I lived in San Marcos previously so I am familiar with the area) and noticed this place around the corner from me. Intrigued, I looked them up on Unilocal and became even more intrigued that Lola’s had such great reviews. Definitely a locals spot. Mom and pop type. Love this place, great customer service, good Mexican food. Nothing complicated. I’ve had: — carne asada burritos — chicken burritos — breakfast burritos — rice and beans You order at the food counter, they give you and slip, and you pay at the other counter. It’s a convenience store/mini grocery store feel. They take credit card. And they aren’t open on Sundays.
