Our first time. The food was wonderful. The wait was a bit long, but it came out hot. If we were in a hurry, it would have been a bit stressful. So just plan on a nice leisurely meal. We will come back

It was right around closing when I re-discovered this place under a new name. I was immediately impressed with the warm, friendly reception I received as I walk into the restaurant, since I mostly roll alone, I went straight to the bar, the two female servers made sure I was comfortable, I shot quick hi and smile to the Chef and thank him for a very Delicious meal. The owner or manager, I’m not sure which, was very informative about the new change. All the while I was thinking, this is the next place I’d like for a group of friends and I to hangout… Thanks guys for a wonderful new experience…

This is the only Unilocal rating that burned me on our family trip to Southern California. We were looking for seafood, but this is really Mediterranean. That was ok though. The shocker is that on a Friday night at 7pm, the place was empty. That scared me, but a 4.5 star rating, so let’s do this. The service was excellent. Very sweet waitress who really took care of my 4 year old niece. The food? Mixed reviews. We had the calamari(over cooked), bruschetta(I’m told it was good, but there weren’t enough pieces for me to get one), and drunken mussels(pretty tasteless broth) as appetizers. My mother loved the mashed potatoes, the salmon was ok. My wife enjoyed the fettuccine Alfredo. I had the pasta del Mar. I was super disappointed that it was just the drunken mussels with fettuccine and some extra seafood. So, the tasteless broth struck again, along with more over cooked calamari and some well cooked(though not seasoned) shrimp. The saddest part is that as we were finishing, out came an older belly dancer in a bikini top and scantily clad outfit. My 4 year old niece was shocked, and it became uncomfortable quickly. When men started putting bills in her top and panties, it was too much. Even without the stripper scene, this place is far from a 4.5 star location. I regret that it was the last meal we had on our family vacation. That was my bad and my family won’t soon forget. I will certainly not return or recommend.

Really good Mediterranean food. I’m a sucker for falafel, so I ordered the wrap, which was decent, but the salad that came with it was even better! Great atmosphere and great beer selection as well.

This review is for the staff and owner of the restaurant. We visited this past weekend and celebrated my mothers birthday. My father accidentally left my moms beautiful orchid plant outside by the fountain and the owner was kind enough to take it inside and keep it safe for us. I called the restaurant in panic(thought we had lost it) and he was so happy that we were calling! I couldn’t believe his kindness. We are so thankful! Bless you and your business! We will be back for dinner again sometime soon!

Food is fresh and interesting. We got the calamari and the nachos. Both were awesome, the sauce for the calamari was so good we asked for more to dip the nachos in. We’ll go again when we’re in Carlsbad.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary lunch since we were working and felt like we needed some time away from work to reconnect for our special day. We did some research and decided on this place for lunch. I’m glad we did because it’s up our alley on food and my husband being part middleastern/mediterranean, didn’t argue with me when I suggested this place. This place is located in a plaza in the Old Town part of Carlsbad Village. There’s outdoor seating and a nice little fountain right outside the place. The décor has lots of charm and lots of mediterranean influences. I loved the table with the plush couch seating so that’s where we sat. We got there pretty early in the day so there weren’t many people there. We started off with the Mazen Mazza plate to share. Originally, it’s on the dinner menu but the waitress was awesome enough to say they can do it. The Mazza plate has babbaganoush, hummus, falafel, olives, tzatziki, grape leaves and warm pita bread. It was delicious and we finished the plate within a matter of minutes. Then for my entrée, I got the drunken white wine mussels, which was originally an appetizer, but they were willing to give me bigger portions to make it my entrée. I loved it and finished it on my own. My husband got the falafel plate and homemade chips, which I had to have some. It was delicious and a great choice. For dessert, we shared a pistachio baklava plate and that made my meal complete. It was beautifully presented to us as well. I loved every bite and will come here more often for lunch since I’m not too far from here for work.

This place was the highlight of our recent trip to Carlsbad. We had an amazing brunch out on the patio with wonderful service. Bottomless mimosas are only $ 10 and they were flowing, flowing, flowing!!! The food was extremely fresh and well seasoned. An added bonus was the side of homemade HOT sauce… delicious! Our servers were so awesome and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

Great and friendly service. House salad was delicious. Pretty empty for a Saturday but good. I got the Apollo gyro– it was okay. Definitely not the best sauce. But everyone else liked their food– veggie land and royal with cheese burger. Comfy couches to sit in if you want a change from regular restaurant chairs

Went here last night with my boyfriend for a late dinner. Service was incredibly friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. We were pretty hesitant to try the humus and baklava because of previous experience with these dishes outside of Mazen, but at our waitress Deanne’s recommendation we tried and loved both of them. :) The spicy chicken chipotle alfredo was delicious as well. Plus being able to dine on a couch is pretty cozy!

While the kitchen is a little slow, the food is good and I particularly love the option for unlimited mimosas with brunch! Casual atmosphere with comfy seats — and you can seat wherever you’d like! Definitely a good spot to try in the Village!

OMG, my new FAVORITE restaurant! Can’t believe I just now found it, I’ve been missing out! It’s a «must try»! The grilled Salmon salad & Pesto Press sandwich I had for lunch were AMAZING!!! I took my hubby back for dinner next day & we got the drunken mussels & Flatbread pizza… again, it was AMAZING! Can’t wait until our next visit! Love the atmosphere too with the comfy couches at the tables. Needless to say… .VERY impressed! :-)

The waitress was very friendly. The owner actually came up and talked to us. He found out it was our first time there and gave my husband and I free dessert. Super friendly. The food was really good. My husband ordered fish and it was cooked to perfection. Very well spiced and they even have a small store attached to it that has very unique items from all over the world for sale. The owner told us when he was traveling he collected things from different countries to sell at his restaurant/store.

Cute little sandwich shop in Carlsbad Village tucked away in the village plaza. Outdoor seating, live music at night. Menu for lunch was sandwich, soup, salad deal. Wife got the Pesto Press and I got the Mushroom Chicken Melt. I can say that the food took a bit long to come out, and when it did, it was served a bit too hot with some pieces inside like the chicken nicely warm, but the artichoke were scalding hot. Chicken itself was surprisingly not dry — it had been well seasoned and blacked slightly and still was moist and flaky instead of chalky and gummy like most chicken breast sandwiches. The homemade potato chips that came with the sandwiches were absolutely incredible. Our server was personable and communicative about the long wait. Dog-friendly outdoor seating in the plaza. Very nice experience overall.

Impressive! Travelling through for a vacation in LA, we stopped in Carlsbad and found Mazen @ 106 on Unilocal!Great reviews, so we headed on over. The shopping center where they are located is wonderful. Very much has a small-town vibe to the community and our girls enjoyed the fountain, play spaces, and open-air design. The restaurant was also a superb experience– a mix of tables, chairs, and sofas(!) made for an inviting and comfortable space. The food was just as excellent. Cuisine seems to be new-Mediterranean. From Fatoosh salad, Tabouli, Pasta Del Mar, and Gyro Plate were just excellent. Not a bad flavor in the mix… I even ate some of their hummus, which I usually loathe. Only knock was the service. They were super pleasant, good with our girls, and chacked on us. That said, the staff is lean and the lady who helped us(owner?) was taking care of a bunch of tables. Unfortunately led to one incorrect order and some unfilled drinks. Despite it, this place is nonetheless close to five stars for me.

So bummed. I was really looking forward to trying this place. We went on Sunday around 11:30 No host A woman in workout wear and glasses said«hi, sit wherever» and carried on w what she was doing We chose a seat, she served our menus and rushed off A nice gentleman came over about 15 min later and said he was sorry she got held up and if he could take our drink order. We asked about how they prepped their turkish coffee. He made it sound amazing and we are fans of cafecito’s so we were excited to try. It felt like it took a while and we heard the kitchen ask for a cup to put the coffee in. We had it served and it was lukewarm. I love my coffee hot and it was nasty. There was one party of two sat outside and another party of 2 sat inside. Thats it. While waiting for our coffee a party of two came in. They sat for 5 min and left. FINALLY we had our order taken and were hopeful. We really wanted to give it a chance. In the meantime, another party came in, sat for 10 min, put their order in and then got up and cancelled their order and left. This made us really apprehensive, but still hopeful. About 5 min later our food finally came out… My veggie pesto scramble was cold and the hashbrowns looked barely cooked. My husband got the burger and his food was hot and hashbrowns looked decent. Took a bite of it & it was unbearable. We gave our food back, paid for the coffee and left. My husband didnt try the burger. I asked if they were short staffed and she replied they were never that busy… Such a bummer.

Personable, friendly, pleasant service with a smile Prosperity Bowl was filling and fabulous. The sundried tomatoes were not bitter or salty. Very, very nice with the over easy eggs We cozied on the couch after a little sunshine and some exercise to a friendly face, cumfy nesting place, and great healthy food. It would be the perfect little hide out for an early evening. I will be back.

I had dinner here tonight as part of a restaurant review for our local community magazine. I wasn’t sure what to expect and normally I’m not a huge fan of Mediterranean cuisine but I’m I glad I got this experience tonight! The flavors here are amazing! The service was top notch. Each dish we tried seemed better than the first and the first was incredible. Black bean hummus is so darn good. I will be back again for sure very soon!

Love this place! It has it all… Great food, amazing staff and a warm inviting atmosphere! Once you walk through the doors at Mazen@106, you are greeted by Mazen himself with a warm smile. His son, Alex, who does a wonderful job bartending and running the restaurant, could not be more warm and accommodating! With their updated kitchen, my salmon was cooked to perfection and was accompanied by a wonderful fresh salad! In this day and age of Corporate America taking over, it is so refreshing to walk into a family owned restaurant, be treated like family and truly cared for! That is why I will continue to support Mom and Pops and will make Mazen@106 a regular spot!

Just stopped in for dinner and found the hostess very friendly and accommodating. I had the gyro plate and my significant other had the chicken fettuccine. Both were delicious. Loved the baklava! There’s an adjoining shop that had a cool collection of South African ritual masks, along with a large collection of liquid amber jewelry and much more. We didn’t stay for the belly dancers. Maybe next time. We did have a chat with the owner. Very entertaining and friendly. Had a wonderful evening.

We visited the revamped Mazen@106 some months ago. The Mediterranean restaurant is located in Carlsbad Village-by-the-Sea which is a part of town that I want to frequent more often. We tried: HUMMUS — nicely seasoned and creamy POLLOPESTO — ample chicken and cheese on this pizza/flatbread! CRISPYFRIEDCALAMARI — nicely fried and squid tasted awesome THECLASSIC — nice thin crust and again lots of cheese CHORIZOCHEESEDIP — I was surprised how much I liked this chorizo dip. It was wonderfully savory but perhaps a tad salty. But this would be a great dip for Superbowl weekend. CUCUMBERFETASALAD — low carbers rejoice. I loved this freshness and crunch of this salad. ROASTEDVEGETABLES — drizzle of sweet balsamic vinegar. The vegetable were roasted more al dente. BAKLAVAS — I think they came up with a recipe with the famed Baklava King here in San Diego. AMAZING baklavas here — you *must* try them. I don’t think I can describe the family/friend chemistry I felt from the owners here. There was an enthusiasm and loyalty that was almost palpable when they spoke about the restaurant and one another. Mazen(the dad) and Alex(son) also own World Bazaar that’s attached to the restaurant. They had live music and belly dancing that night as well(it does get a bit loud). I look forward to returning and trying out more items at Mazen@106.

I’ve read a few of the reviews that weren’t positive. I have to say, my husband & I experience a great brunch! The food was delicious & we didn’t have any complains about the bottomless mimosas. We actually walked away saying, we need to come here for dinner with friends. To those who didn’t have a great experience your first time, I would give it another try!

Hands down, the WORST Middle Eastern food I’ve ever had! DONOT dine here if you know what Middle Eastern food should taste like. They use the word«fusion» when describing their menu and this means, «an excuse the tone down any semblance of a Middle Eastern palate in order to cater to their Carlsbad clientele.» Food is horrible and has no flavor at all. On top of this, it is a small restaurant and there is live music, but it is SO loud you can’t carry on a conversation. At BEST, this place is a wine bar — they have no business serving food. Save your money and go to McDonalds instead. At least there, you’ll get what you pay for.

Just tried out Mazen for brunch on a Sunday morning. We arrived at 9:40 to find them closed, despite the fact that the hours posted on their window said they were open at 9:30. Waited around for 20 minutes or so as they got the tables and umbrellas set up and got seated at 10am. I had really wanted to try their Medi Cristo sandwich, which was highlighted on their website, however, it was not listed on the menu. When I asked our server about it, I was told they no longer serve that item. We got the french toast instead. We also orderd the bottomless mimosas, which were advertised as «Bottomless Mimosas $ 1» on a large chalkboard out front. They came served in a large wine goblet and were completely and utterly FLAT. I asked our server if they were pre-mixed and she assured me that they weren’t, but I find that hard to believe. My husbad had a couple glasses as well and every single one of them was flat. They also didn’t bring the champagne around to the table to refill as they do at most other restaurants when serving bottomless mimosas. I sent mine back and got coffee instead. Our french toast came out pretty quickly and was nothing special. lukewarm, topped with frozen straberries and barely dusted with powdered sugar. Certainly not worth $ 10.50. We finished up pretty quickly and asked for the check, and here’s where I take issue. On the check, they charged us $ 7 for the mimosas. Now, I sent mine back and my husbad had 3, maybe 4? I wasn’t counting, since, ya know, bottomless. Now, if the bottomless mimosas were $ 7 that would be fine, still a good deal. But don’t advertise one thing and charge something completely different. Also, if you have updated your menu options UPDATEYOURWEBSITE. I almost always make a decison on what Im going to eat before I even get to the restaurant. In the end, I would never eat here again. The quality was severely lacking and the advertising was misleading. Maybe they do a better lunch/dinner? I sure hope so because brunch is not their best showing.

We have been coming to this family-owned Carlsbad restaurant for years, maybe a few times annually. The owner and staff are always friendly and more than accommodating to our every need. Since they’ve rebranded to Mazen@106(Mazen is the owner btw) the menu has diversified and a few of the cabana-like booth areas have been simplified to regular tables and an open layout in the space. There are still tables outside in a roped in patio that are fun to sit at — prime people watching in this plaza and a fountain in the middle! It’d be super cool if they would consider adding sidewalk planters to help divide the space and create a bit of privacy. Not sure if they’re able to serve alcohol outside or not either. ROASTEDSALMON&GOATCHEESE Organic Greens, Capers, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Artichoke Hearts, Scallions And Creamy Goat Cheese $ 14 ^^THISWASFREAKINGAMAZING! The salmon was cooked to perfection, I think the best I’ve had in years. Hats off to the cooks for killing it in the kitchen! Our service was excellent(we were the only table in the restaurant on a Monday evening) and the nice lady serving us went above and beyond to make us feel at home and we couldn’t have been happier. Will absolutely return — I think there is live music on Fri/Sat too!

Just re opened with a new menu and its our new favorite place ! We went and checked it out and it still has the same great ambience and vibe and is a great place to go chill, have a glass of wine and hang out for awhile. What I like best is that all the food is so fresh and full of flavor. I ordered the Chicken Pesto flatbread and it came with a delicious salad and it was only $ 12. Husband had a spicy Chipotle chicken alfredo that was soooo yummy. Can’t wait to go back and try out other items on the menu!
