Cool exterior and interior with great«irishey» décor. The staff is friendly and we have always had really good service at the bar/dining room. The food is GREAT! Great irish style food. We love the boxties(or boxtys); like an irish omelette with potato pancake instead of egg(amazing). Also, their rueben burger is a must have(also there other sandwiches are pretty solid). Beer selection is good british/irish variety, which can be a refreshing change of pace from the SD beer scene. Oh yeah: live music almost every night and a fire pit!

Service was abit slow. Waitress said she was new and learning. Food was tasty especially the sweet potato fries. They should invest in an air-conditioner or some type of ventilation. The air was almost stifling as more clients came in. I may come back when I save up enough for a pour of Middleton’s Irish Whiskey.($ 32)

Came in here on our vacation for lunch and the food was excellent! The Corned Beef Boxty was delicious and recommend it and the Fish and Chips were very good. Love the atmosphere, I felt like I was back in Ireland. And love that they play Irish music. Place is clean. Christian served us and was great. We will be sure to come back for breakfast before we leave and swing by on our next vacation back to Carlsbad.

O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub is one of the places I enjoy stopping into when I am in Carlsbad. This place looks and feels like an Irish Pub. In addition, it just seems as though it belongs in the Carlsbad Village-maybe that’s why it’s been there so long. I enjoyed playing darts in the front room even though my friends and I were kicked out during one our visits some time ago while waiting to exchange our darts for our ID’s at the end of our game. That incident really annoyed me! True it was closing time. Needless to say I got over it and decided to give it another chance. I’m happy I did! O’Sullivan’s also offers live music, and who doesn’t appreciate live music in an Irish Pub? Even awful live music can be good sometimes. Besides if the band sucks you can sit by the fire pit outside and enjoy drinking your beer. Someday, I will try the food. In the meantime the atmosphere, beer, and the possibility of a decent live music experience are good enough reasons for me to be a fan!

First and foremost, our server was incredibly nice and is really good at what she’s doing. This was stop 3 on our Big night badge venture and it was definitely not disappointing! They had an Irish bag pipe group playing that was pretty rad! I passed by several tables with Irish accents and was enthralled when Lori ordered this mixed beer drink! It giggled every time she took a sip because it giggled. We cheered to some girls doing the Irish jig and plotted our next destination. Very cultured at O’Sullivans and I will be back for more!

Hands down the best Irish food I’ve ever had. I always go for the Sheppards Pie and I wasn’t disappointed. The portion was just right and man was it full of flavor. My husband had the Ruben Burger Twist on a Classic and it surely lived up to his expectations! The most flavorful corned beef we’ve ever had. The buyer was cooked perfectly! Will definitely come back to this place the next time we visit Carlsbad.

Lots of neat things about this place, but the live music is my favorite! Love the Irish music. I need to go back and actually try the food for a change. :)

Favorite bar to stop into in Carlsbad. Best Irish coffees. The bartender Katherine is Awesome. Food is great. Security guard Derek is also very nice and accommodating. If you’re looking for a good time stop by listen to the great bands ask for Katherine, best bartender in Carlsbad!

Terrible Service. Went here for St. Patrick’s day. Look, I understand you are busy on this day. So, if you are going to charge 10 dollars I would expect you hire more help? if not, what is the cover for? We waited in line 20 minutes. Then 20 more minutes to be seated. We got out table and the Waitress never came. Waited 25 mins for someone to show up. At that point I was kinda pissed. It was almost impossible to get a drink from the bar. Forget it, I’ve had better times at other places on St. Patrick’s. I was going to walk out and ask for a refund, but I calmed down and chilled.

This place never disappoints, great food, live music, and beer! I get the Shepherds pie or the fish and chips. Don’t forget the curry sauce for the fries. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but I’ve been here 5 times, with live music starting at 9 every time. Much better that the other choices in town!

I’m a fan of this Irish bar in the heart of carlsbad village. It’s not usually overcrowded(unless it’s a holiday or late on a weekend night). Trivia night brings teams that are eager to earn a portion of your bar tab. There is no way to prepare for the random questions, so it seems like every team has a fair chance. The service can be slow at times, but they are adequately staffed for this size bar. The have monthly drink specials. Stop by for s pint if you are in the area!

Came before on a weekend night and it was too packed(a good sign, I suppose), but returned another trip midday, and even on a hot day the pub seems dark and breezy. Wife HATED the pinot noir, but my Tito’s was mixed well. It’s somewhat hobbity. YOUSHALLNOTPASSOUT.

Great service doesn’t make up for subpar food. First off if the bottle is old how about opening a new one? Seriously, my server says the bartender mentioned it’s not ordered much so it’s probably old. Gee… Open a new bottle, nope… Pick another wine she says. UN Believable. Shepherds Pie consisted of a pound of mashed potatoes with what must have been the leftovers. Two of us ordered the same thing and received same Luke warm dinner. Asked for manager, it’s the bartender… Wow! How do these places stay open? Save your $$ eat at home.

Wrote this review before I even got my food. Have Celiacs disease, unable to eat much Irish fayre, but they were accommodating and extremely friendly. Theresa is here on her third day and is owning it! You go girl! Updated: Had the salmon on leafy greens. Wouldn’t recommend it, but for an option on a menu that has mostly gluten filled goodness(that I can’t have) the wait staff and environment makes up for it. Loved the experience. Fish was mediocre, but helping were huge. Still leaving rating. Mostly because of Theresa. Otherwise I would drop it to a 4 star, 3 star if only eating food. But you don’t go out for just the food.

Regular here, nevertheless, had to wait 20 min for waitress, who passed us and looked at us several times, came over and then only because she sat her friends next to us. Then spending time flirting. Have always been treated as family here… Not today. She was very attentive, guess that’s going on…

I frequent here a lot on Friday nights to watch my friends play… It’s a great little pub and they stay true to the Irish theme. It’s fun to just go have a Guinness or Irish Coffee and feel like you’re soaking up some heritage(Well, for me, being Irish anyway). But anyways… They have two locations, this being the larger of the two(or so it feels like to me?). The outside fire pit, I have yet to fully enjoy because it’s pretty packed on the weekends… But it does add a nice ambiance! The servers are usually very nice and attentive. I’ve noticed one or two bad eggs, but that happens anywhere. Again, weekends seemed to be pretty packed if you’re looking to watch the live music(I usually show up around 8:30) because they still have a large dinner crowd. Overall, if you love live music and beer… I would say this is the perfect spot. But yes, very crowded, so be aware of that. Average prices for drinks, and the food is good!

The better of the two Carlsbad Village Irish Pubs, imho. This one is close to pretty much everything in town. After a long hard day(right) of shopping at the farmers market and nearby shops during our last vacation, my family and I stopped in here. I ordered my usual black and tan, which is hard to mess up, scotch eggs(Yes, John H., in an Irish Pub. Still yummy. haha.), which came with a tasty, tangy chutney for dippin,’ and steak fries with some sort of meh curry dipping sauce. I wasn’t a fan of that but the fries were de-lish. I love the atmosphere here and the wait staff. There is plenty of indoor seating in the dimly lit dining area, the bar, and the outdoor patio area. There is a wide variety of foods offered for a decent price and proportions are so generous you’ll probably opt to share like I did. The beer list is also fab, offering tons of UK favorites. All in all, this is a favored stop for beers and appetizers. I want to come back on a night with live music!

Hmmmm… I’m not sure how I feel about this place. On one hand, I want to give it another chance,(and our waitress was super sweet). On the other, nothing makes it special to go out of your way to try, or come back to. It’s kind of just, meh. My group of 4 first sat down at a table and decided to start with some happy hour drinks. Unfortunately there was only a pale ale on the menu. On a Friday night? Sigh… okay…sure. We ordered all the happy hour appetizers initially, as well as a nachos plate to share, but our waitress only heard us order the wings. Most likely because we asked if we could do a split order of half buffalo wings and half Jack Daniels. Hmm… maybe the person ordering wasn’t very clear. Nothing too great, nothing too bad. Kind of just an average pub that’s cleaner than most. Definitely a decent place to kind of stop by and hang out, but that’s really the extent of my experience. Maybe next time eh?

If there’s a bar like«Cheers» in real life, O’Sullivan’s is it. It has all your favorite people who show up regularly, from the guy who can drink a beer in two seconds, to the greatest band in the world, and super-fun bartenders. The drinks are cheap, and they come fast. If you’re going to order anything on the menu, it’s going to be the corn beef quesadilla — the greatest combination of anything the Irish have made and anything the Mexicans have made. If you show up on a Monday, you can play some trivia with some cool people. Even if you don’t have your own team, anyone’s happy to have you as long as you’re good… or buy a round. Thursdays they have a great musical talent by the name of Tony Cummins and he plays all your favorite American music along with an occasional Irish jig. Beware — odd are he’ll make newbies sing«Ring of Fire» with him, so brush up on your Johnny Cash.
