If there was a zero on the stars, I so would give them zero!!! Worst customer service experienced! The manager Monica needs people skills and needs to read what customer service is and not be so condescending just because she’s management!

$ 5 cover charge. Drinks and food were fairly priced. Thirsty Thursday, DJ was there played some throwbacks. The service was VERY slow and very inattentive. My friends and I wanted to order a drink and ended up having to go to the bar since service was so slow! Environment is alright as long as you’re ready to dance to hip hop music! In all honesty it’s just an oversized version of «The Spot» in Vista. If you’re into that, then you’ll enjoy your night there.

First time there last night to check out a band with friends. One of our guests was bugged like 3 – 4 times to pay our bill in the span of about 10 minutes Wh h was annoying bc we were trying to watch our band play that we had waited a good hour to see. She was sweet about it though. The sliders were really really tasty and she was sweet enough to give us the happy our price two hours later. only bc we had been there for so long; real generous. The wait for our food was about 20 minutes but the waitresses could work on their friendliness! I’m super happy we got the nicest one there. The other chose to ignore me for a quick«where’s your restroom» question. Yet again it is a small little bar so my expectations weren’t too high.

Going downhill quickly! Although the service can be a tad bit slow, the waitresses and bartenders are friendly. It’s best to order drinks directly from the bartender, you will get them faster that way. Major problem I see is the management. The guy that was there before was very nice. He came around and chatted with people and made sure you were OK. Now you basically have the«door cashier» that became a «manager» and she is VERY rude, has absolutely ZERO people skills and a very unpersonable personality. That will eventually run off the customers.

For lunch time this place really is just to expensive and the service is wayyyyy toooo slowwww! We had wings, spinach dip 2 beers & lemonade it cost $ 38?! And we waited for like 25 minutes for basically appetizers. Any ways I wouldn’t recommend this place for lunch.

Got to Rookies about 7:30 yesterday and they were charging a $ 5 cover… so you could essentially get their late night happy hour specials, ½ everything on the menu and $ 1 Rolling Rocks beers. Didn’t want to subsidize everybody else getting fat and drunk so didn’t pay. Ordered Hawaiian pizza and would ABSOLUTELYNEVER do that again. Nasty meat, nasty fake cheese and hardly warm. Good for people watching and early happy hour specials but not much else.

Rookies is the best North County Sports bar hands down. The first time I went was super bowl two years ago. The place is huge, the place was packed and the service was and still is great. My great friend Kimmie invited us to meet her and watch the game. Kristen was working as bartender and was quick with service on a very busy day. Kristen and all of the staff are friendly and get your order right the first time. The food was actually very good for G Douglasa sports bar. I have been back multiple times and it is always fun and a good vibe. They have Karaōke on Sundays so that is the next day I will be there. I will write a follow up review since I do look for fun places that have Karaōke. Thank you Kimmie, Kristen and Rookies.

Amazing service and great sports bar! New ownership has really made a difference with this classic sports bar in Oceanside! Way to go Christine Ramirez! Impressive changes!!!

Its been awhile since I’ve been to Rookies and at the time I came for the food. I remember is being big, but I can barely remember since I was younger lol. I recently came here on a Saturday for a family members birthday celebration. There was plenty of seating It wasn’t extremely packed which was good. They also have a shit load of TVs. We had a big group and the waitresses were trying their best to keep up. We started off with drinks. I got the El Patron margarita and order a veggie burger since now I have become a vegetarian. For being fairly new I really enjoyed the burger. It was tasty for there being no meat. The margaritas were a bit pricey. Next time I’ll come when its happy hour lol. A band was playing that night. They were OK not my type of music but I enjoyed hearing them play.

Great drink specials. Plenty of seating. Tons of TVs and the waitresses were very friendly. The food was extremely tasty as well! Apparently Thursday’s are the days to go.

Wonderful sports bar. Family oriented during the day for those that want to watch the game and have kids. A great menu, friendly staff, clean bathrooms and an awesome bar. It’s always a good time here. Surrounded by tv’s in a family environment and usually having some kind of fun event.

Very much vexed. A few friends that don’t think I get out enough on non-work business, convince me to go unwind occasionally and Rookies is… has been, one of their favorite spots. One of the times I went there I had the Bacon burger and it was better then good. It was magical. It rivaled Wild Note in Solana Beach. Tonight it went from 10 to zero. Our waitress was sweet but brand new and her lack of training showed(I don’t blame her but see it as a failing on management’s part). This was the least packed I have ever seen Rookies on a Sunday night and it still took nearly 20 minutes to get the first tap draft. The second one took longer. We didn’t bother ordering more after that. The burger last night was served dripping wet on a smashed bun and was barely cooked. I could tell it wasn’t raw when I pulled it apart-but not by much. It tasted like a holocaust frankly and stupidly I ate it anyway. The blue cheese that came with it was basically water, I have never seen blue cheese sauce as thin as this in my life. Denny’s was better. The crinkle cut fries were clearly frozen and bought in-and tasted like freezer burn and were hardly cooked either. I didn’t even bother after the first three of them. To top it off, our waitress never came by to ask if we were alright despite the lack of guests in the establishment and I hope that was only because she saw the look of revulsion on my face trying to power through the dripping burger with raw red onion and holding up the fries to watch them wilt faster then an octogenarian in a Swedish steam room. Not because she didn’t think she was supposed to. Or I would have sent it back. To top that topping, when we finally did get the check without even a courtesy«how was everything?» we paid cash and never got change. We had to hunt her down and explain that we were not leaving a $ 20 tip after all that mess, wanted our change, and presuming the lack of service merited a lofty compensation bordered on entitled and insulting. With so many gastropub’s opening around oceanside and so many well established venues that are consistent-and consistently good: this recent hardcore fail of a rare evening out for me has resulted in an extreme gun-shy reaction already to the idea of ever returning. If I want consistently sad and skeevy atmosphere, Larry’s. If I want exceptional service, food, and mixology, LTH is high up there. Rookies fell somewhere in the middle but rolling the dice on whether it’s a 10 night or a total zero isn’t worth it to me anymore. By the way, this review is going up at 5:30 am because I left at midnight and have been home with shall-we-say intestinal distress and serious cramps and disorientation since about 12:30am. I haven’t been able to sleep and my money is on the food being the culprit. Used to love you guys but frankly you’re lucky I wasn’t doing an official review tonight. If my experience was something to go by as the new quality tone for the joint… it won’t matter anyway: someone else will publish it.

Place has a stage for live music, two pool tables, TVs behind the bar that will also display the stage. A band was playing. So, five dollar cover fee to see the band. The bartenders and bar backs here were drunk but it was good time. The bar staff was pretty awesome the whole night.

More like 3& ½ Stars… An Oceanside mainstay… Been thee Local sports bar for the locals. Been going here for over a decade. A mix of locals and military and still a solid place to share a pitcher and watch a game. Seating is hit or miss but usually a miss if it’s a desired game/event. If you arrive late forget about it you’ll be standing. Halfway between a decent sports bar and a dive bar. It feels safe and the servers are more receptive than Hooters and are almost always nice and friendly, and quick to refill. Nice referee outfits ;) … Security is on point– never had a problem. If you’re complaining about the food… Dude. Its a bar. What do you expect. Average Sports bar food. Just get a burger. Tons of TVs. I will comment that the main projection screen needs to be replaced and the décor could be updated a bit but… acceptable. The floor level is also acceptable but for 5 stars if needs a big overhaul and the food could be improved.

Used to come here all the time to hang out when I lived down the street. Great prices and a very chill place. Lots of seating but during certain games, this place is extremely packed. The bouncer is always cool, but there is a cover on certain nights. Pool tables, a huge bar, lots of screens, and decent bar food. I recommend getting the wings.

I read the Rookies reviews a few weeks ago and although I wasn’t expecting it to get 5 stars I was very surprised by some of the reviews. I’ve been a pretty consistent customer here for a little over four years. Places like Rookies have a purpose and that’s to have a crazy number of TV’s blasting some sport or another, cheap Happy Hour specials, a large pull of beers on tap and a menu of food you can eat with your hands. Rookies hits all of those points head on. They have a simple happy hour menu that offers a few beer options, a house shot, a margarita and a Long Island that is no joke. You get a few $ 5.00 food options and luckily they have their wings on there because really I don’t care how many wing places pop up around here Rookies scores on the wings. Most nights they offer some kind of draw to pull people in, be it Karaōke, a DJ or Live Music. They pull in a large crowd on Thursday because their menu goes half off at 7:00pm and they hold a Thirsty Thursday special were some cheap beer is $ 1 until they run out and domestics are $ 2(I believe) and with the DJ it turns in to North County’s idea of a night club. I have a group of friends who are pretty regular here after work a couple of nights a week and I’m probably working my way into that«regular» title. I don’t mind so much because I’m a huge fan of the extra dirty vodka martini they never get wrong and the garlic chicken pizza they no longer offer on the menu but will make it for me anyway. I’ve taken my little sister and brother here for dinner and they agree that the food is really good and our«server girl» was really nice. My mom has come with me a couple of times for Happy Hour and she’s not one to be hanging out but she’s kind of a fan of Rookies as well. So… family tested, I approve.
