I live in Oceanside but I’m not a Marine and I don’t need a fade, I need a stylist. I have very full and thick hair and most of the time the person is too lazy to give me the attention I need to get a good cut. I was very delighted with the thorough job that Nancy did. She had me looking sharp in no time and her attention to detail was a breath of fresh air. I’ll be back for sure; this place is a rare find. If you’re living in the Carlsbad area don’t cheat yourself; go here where they do a good job rather than where they rush you through and you have to wait for it to grow out before you like it.

If you are looking for an expert colorist and stylist, check out Nancy Faith, owner/​operator of Shear Magic. Nancy will not only cut your hair to perfection, she will provide you with the color you want every time. I’ve been coming to Nancy for four years since I found her through a word-​of-​mouth referral and I feel lucky to have found such talent! My husband even gets his hair cut by Nancy now! FYI the salon also includes a manicurist and esthetician.

I read through reviews and this salon received the best in the area. Although the women working here were very nice to me, I am used to a more efficient and timely salon experience. I had an appointment at 9am which the manicurist forgot about. She had to be called multiple times and finally came at 9:30. The color selection was pretty small compared to most salons. She did offer to layer different polishes to get closer to my desired hues, which was nice of her. The woman doing my nails seemed knowledgeable and competent and my nails have not chipped yet and it’s been 5 days! The final product was well-​done, however, it took an hour to have them painted. Overall, if you don’t have a color preference and have plenty of time to spend on a manicure this is a very nice place to go. If you are picky about colors or have limited time, pick another salon.

This is by far the best salon in Southern California! I was a walk in 18 years ago, have been going there since, and have gone through many milestones with Nancy Faith. She knows what do, how to do it and all the people in the salon are so friendly and accommodating. Its like going to a family gathering where you actually like everyone! Have referred many friends there and everyone is so pleased with their new «dos!» The place is clean, warm, nicely decorated (not trendy like lots of other salons-​no aluminum wall paper!). Nancy will often call me when she has cancellations to come early, to let me know she is running late, when she is going on vacation or when she hasn’t seen me in a while! Shear Magic also has other highly skilled hairdressers, an esthetician and a manicurist whose work is just as highly recommended. Whether a local or a tourist, go see for yourself! While I think they take walk ins, they are always busy so make an appointment!

The luxury of a finely crafted haircut, what could be better? How about perfectly executed hi-​lights to go along with it? At Shear Magic, it’s nothing but the best. The owner (god bless her I always forget her name) is so meticulous about your styling that she will not quit until you look your very best! Though I doubted her judgment a moment or two, I was soon mistaken as she quickly flashed her scissors across my cut, diminishing every doubt from my mind. Average pricing, you’re looking at $ 100 lights/​cut which we all know is quite the bargain. Two thumbs!
