AMAZING SANDWICHES! everything tasted fresh and the 6″ sandwiches were tremendous. Placed a fairly large phone order and they didn’t mess up either!

The person that had the issue seemed to be the manager at the time. They kept forgetting what type of meat I wanted on my sandwich. They kept asking, «What kind of meat was that again?» That is what Subway does all the time.

This place, its so delicious!!! I love eating here! Wayyyyyyyy better than subway! Eat here!!! I love it!!! :D. They don’t wimp out on the subs…

Always good food and friendly service here. Great location a block from the beach. Use their reward stamp card, sign up for SpotOn and use Unilocal coupons for big savings!

Have lived in Carlsbad since I was born and used to come here all the time as a family before beach days. Recently started coming here again. Moved from San Marcos back to Carlsbad so it’s a lot closer now.
All three girls there today were very polite, helpful and offered great recommendations! I brought in expired coupons and they honored one of them which I thought was super cool! Saved me around a dollar
These sandwiches are HANDS DOWN better than Subway meals or any of the other «chain» sandwich places. So fresh. Carve the meat right in front of you, bread always tastes great, sauces on point, fresh avocado, crunchy sprouts and lettuce. Really, can’t say a bad thing about this location or the food! Will definitely be back!

I suggest nobody goes there Darwins take care of submarine in Carlsbad. I paid for food via eat 24 app I never received the food I never received my money back and I was treated like a criminal!!!

First time here and I have to say they have really good subs & fresh. Place is very clean and staff are nice. I will be coming here a lot more!

If you want a delicious fresh sandwich go here. This place has been in this location for at least 15 years or more, same owner. He knows how to hire great people. Everyone here is always friendly and give great service. Now most important, the sandwiches. Submarina never cuts corners, from the bread to the produce, always fresh and they don’t scrimp on portions either. These guys do sandwiches well and crush the competition.

Service was friendly. Food was OK. It is most definitely a corporate franchise chain sub shop. They portion control the meat and cheese leaving you with small amount of both.
I saw in a previous review a customer said the same thing and the owner compared their subs to Subway sandwiches. More meat than subway. You’re setting the bar pretty low if you’re just trying to be better than a subway sandwich.
It was an average sandwich.

I used to work here back in 06 – 07, and after working here, I couldn’t eat another subway sandwich ever again. I have been back several times since and have never had a bad sandwich. If I lived closer than an hour and a half away, I would still be coming here more often, but in one month I will be in the area and can’t wait to stop by after a couple years.

The sandwich was not only amazing but so was the service! The workers are incredibly sweet and professional. I’d recommend it just for the employees, plus the food was delicious. Going back again tomorrow!

Awesome sandwich. I appreciate that they provide sprouts. And the wasabi sauce!!! Amazing. Oh. And the music selection made for a very desirable lunch experience :)

Charmane is the nicest worker and my sandwich was amazing! Love the other girl tok with blonde hair but didn’t catch her name. Fast, excellent service with great sandwiches whenever in their hands!

If you think all Submarina sandwich places are the same, then you’re wrong. THIS LOCATION IS THE BEST! First off, Charmane and Rosi, teamed up and made my experience of ordering a sandwich one that I’ll never forget! They both were kind, professional and funny! These girls also know how to «up-​sell». But with great employees as these two, actually, make that three, (lets not forget Ambar), who cares about the little extra charge? The atmosphere, the attitude, the music and of course the sandwich itself were awesome! Thank you Josh for being such a good manager and hiring such great personnel to make my time there very enjoyable! These ladies are worth keeping!

Great food great service! The one thing that really stood out to me is that they choose to play Christan music that is sooooo RAD! Not afraid to hide their faith, it makes me choose this as a lunch destination everytime I’m in the area

Hate to say it. Another mean Worker review. Rude and pushy. Love Submarina, dislike the mean Worker who was working on 9−2−14. She pretty well ruined my repeat lunch business for this location in Carlsbad.

As a first-​time visitor to this sandwich shop, it is epic. Probably twice as good as Subway. This location is right behind the Starbucks. The staff is nice and friendly, too.

Provolone, swiss, & smoked cheddar Cheese is sliced fresh for Veggie sandwiches. Loads of fresh cut avocado, topped on hearty squaw roll, with spicy mustard… Also upon request: spinach, cucumbers, & bell peppers. Yum and nutritious!

Tourists abound at this location during lunch in the vacation seasons but I love the Submarina albacore tuna sandwich so I brave the crowds irrespective of the time of year. I don’t usually like tuna sandwiches but for whatever reason I love the tuna at Submarina. I also never used to have cheese on my tuna sandwiches but they seem to push the cheese at this location and it works on the sandwich so why not. Back in the day they used to have munster, which was awesome with the tuna, but now the cheese selection is down to 6 and I inevitably end up with Swiss. The sandwiches are sort of expensive though. $ 6.79 for a 6″ and $ 9.29 for a 9″, before chips or drink. Parking stinks and even when decent spaces are available they are never wide enough. It helps somewhat that there are a handful of spaces striped as «20 minute Parking» in front of the Submarina. Good quality for a chain sandwich shop. Try the tuna.
