As a sushi-lover, I appreciated the many creative types of sushi that they made. We tried the Star-Wars roll, my boyfriend loved it, but I’m not a big spicy food fan so I was not drawn to it. However, I still loved the other sushi they had, especially the ones covered in breadcrumbs. Those were bomb. I loved the atmosphere in this place. It had a café vibe. The sushi was pretty cheap too, since they provided a half-off on most of them. My only complaint is that the sushi I tried was not to my liking, but only because I’m really picky and I hate spicy food. I recommend this place if you want a nice place for dinner for a good price.

My husband and I had lunch here today and it’s a cute, clean little sushi joint. The Spring Rolls were delicious and the sushi was pretty good. My husband liked the Star Wars roll and I liked the Vegas roll. The service however was very slow. My husband had to lock eyes with our server to finally get our check(and we waited about 10 – 15 minutes after they took our empty plates). The staff was curtious though and after the wait, they gave us a discount on our bill. I do think it’s a decent lunch place.

This was a great spot! Vegas Roll did not disappoint! Busy little place. The wait staff was busy but took time to answer our questions and help us decide!

What an exceptional roll! Bad Boy Roll is a must try! Never tasted anything like it before & it’s excellent! Yum!

Great place! Not sure why they feel the need to advertise the rolls as 50% off, they could just advertise the actual great prices. I don’t particularly enjoy thinking of seafood as 50% off. But this marketing gimmick aside, the food is amazing, atmosphere is great and staff is kind and attentive.

I had high hopes for this place based on the Unilocal reviews but maybe I should take into consideration the area. I checked out this place for lunch and I should’ve been tipped off by the fact that the menu had cuisine from all over Asia, including Korean bibimbap and Japanese sushi. Anyway, the majority of the rolls are 50% off all day, which really, does it mean it’s really on sale? I ordered several rolls thinking that I was going to be stuffed and have enough to take back home, but they were pretty small and worth the 50% off price. The service, despite the place only having 3 – 5 tables occupied when I was there, was lackluster at best. The food came out quickly but the staff was not particularly warm or friendly. The spider roll(with soft shell crab) was the smallest spider roll I’ve ever received in my life, literally. It was probably 4⁄5 fake crab meat and then the rest was probably a leg or two of the soft-shell crab. Realistically, that was pretty much the composition of all the rolls — 4⁄5 faux crab meat, 1⁄5 whatever the signature ingredient is. On the plus side, they sell Brick macaron ice cream sandwiches!

Tried this new restaurant. It is got a weird name but overall decent food. They are mostly sushi rolls with some korean dishes as well. We got a few rolls, which had interesting names but they were fresh and tasted good. Nothing amazing or out of the ordinary. The service was good as well, fast and the food came out pretty quickly. The tempura ice cream however was meh, the batter was very cakey which I did not care for. Parking is pretty easy out front. They have 50% off some rolls which makes it come out to $ 7−8/d roll which is about average for other places, so not sure how much of a discount it really is.

Love this place. My fiancé and I are coming here from now on. New favorite spot! The rainbow roll is my favorite! Super good and not too pricey on anything. They have %50 off sushi rolls all the time. They also give you a free fried green tea ice cream on your bday month, so delicious! Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. You are greeted once you get through the door and they say their fair wells upon leaving.

I was reluctant to check this place out because the sushi spot before it was not very good. Went in with my date and they completely gutted and refurbished the place. There were surprisingly alot of people and the food was delicious. From the spicy tuna to the eel to the chefs special: everything was delicious. Can’t wait to return again!

The BEST birthday experience ever! They are so kind and sweet. The food is amazing! They also offer ice cream macaroons and fried green tea! Service was also outstanding! I totally recommend this spot if you are a sushi lover! Lots of great places around the area if you’re not satisfied. This spot takes the cake! What a memorable experience! You will never forget for sure!

Very welcoming service was good! I wish we had some sort of place like this back in Washington! I got a todo roll California roll tempura and the udon noodle! Very delicious! Only thing that is a negative was the bathroom. But only needed to wash my hands!

One of THE better places in North County for sushi and sushi rolls. The prices and service are great. There are 80+ sushi & sushi roll options for 50% off. The Rainbow Roll, Star Wars Roll, and sashimi never disappoint. The edamame was a little tough and too salty for my liking. It can be busy during the weekends & unfortunately they do not take reservations.

Always good, always consistent. Service has been a bit slow a few times(I don’t mean the time it takes for food to arrive but the time it takes for a server to get to the table at the start and bring the check at the end) but all in all a great place to go for some good sushi at a good price.

Half price on all sushi all the time. The truth is that they inflate the original price over what you’d pay elsewhere anyway. So you’re coming out even. Free parking right out front of the place. They charge an extra $ 2.50 to make your sushi with brown rice.

North County finally has good Korean food. When I have a craving for a Hot Stone Bimbimbap or a Soft Tofu Stew, there is no need to drive south over 40 mins to Clairemont Mesa. These are a must try! Even though Sushi Kuchi is a Japanese Restaurant, I am not a fan of the sushi rolls as I am of the fresh sashimi and Korean food selections. Sushi rolls have way too much rice and not enough fish. Rice is mushy. The servers are nice and friendly.

Best Korean /Sushi in North County I’ve had. Wish I tried the bibimbap. If someone has a birthday… TAKETHEMHERE, turns into a disco. Way worth it. I normally hover around Kearny Mesa, Convoy area for restaurants.

I have been going to this place since I moved to mission valley in 2014 but after today I will never return. I just saw one guy drying his hair with a towel shaking his head around then cleaned his ears. All this around raw fish. Then the dude sneezes in his hand and no shit starts picking up food around the sushi bar. If you don’t care about that kind of stuff than buy all means eat there. But nasty shit like that is just disgusting. I told the staff about it and they did nothing so I will not be returning ever

Amazing price, friendly service, delicious sushi! This is a staple for our family. Yes, they celebrate birthdays loudly and if you have any sort of sound sensitivity just don’t dine here — okay? Cool. For the rest of the Unilocalers who like cheap amazing sushi — come here :)

We were looking for a sushi place to replace our regular go to when at Carmel Valley. We came here because of the Unilocal reviews and were pleasantly surprised. The sushi was rolled well, the staff were friendly and the food was good. I think it hit that right mark for good price vs. good cuts of fish. We will be back to give these guys another go.(Maybe we had better luck with the supply of sushi than the other recent reviews).

We are long time regulars, and have been going here for several years, even before the new management. The food is delicious, but I recommend bringing a bag of snacks to munch on while you wait to be served. The past few times we have been here, we have waited extremely long times to even be greeted for a drink order. The food is delicious when it comes, and we have never had any complaints about the quality or freshness of the fish.

i ordered sashimi and the fish was all dried. not going back. i do not recomend going there. I was there with my nephew, just the two of us. My nephew wants to go to the bathroom so I take him. I come back and someone else were sitting at our table. They thought we had left!!! really??? I find the waiter and he apologized but… I was speechless. I will not go back there. On top of everyhing the way they celebrate someones birthday is REALLY loud!!! They turn off all the lights and turn on a disco ball and start screaming.

I have been here a few times through out the years. Prior to it being called Sushi Kuchi, I think it was called something else. Anyways, for Sushi Kuchi, I have been twice I think. Came here last night for dinner. We ordered: — baked green mussels — seaweed salad — 3 rolls So much food! We were stuffed and had leftovers. Maybe we should have stuck with just 2 rolls. This spot has 50% off sushi rolls. Great prices. Food is good too! Loved the service, they gave us a small dish on the house, I think it was spicy tuna deep fried drizzled with eel sauce. I loved the baked green mussels:)

Really good, from the servers to the food. We ordered green mussels, my absolute new favorite, delicious salmon Kama, spicy seafood salad(nice chunks of fish light dressing), salmon and albacore sashimi(super fresh), soft shell crab roll and salmon skin tempura roll. All I can say is everything was well presented and absolutely delicious.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants around it. Right down the street from where I live, I stop in weekly. The staff is nice and very welcoming. The sushi is great and they have very affordable prices. ½ of the menu is 40% off roles and hand roles. I always order the sashimi salad, hand roles, miso soup and it is just the right mix. A staple sushi fix for my boyfriend and I.

Pretty good! A wide variety of rolls. They have an extensive 50 percent off menu. But the 50 percent off appears to be permanent(so why not just mark them the half-off price to begin with?). I met a friend here for lunch and we shared a bunch of yummy rolls. We ordered the hot night roll(spicy tuna inside, albacore on the outside, ponzu sauce and smelt egg), which I loved. We also had the sunshine roll(imitation crab, salmon, avocado, house dressing), which was also great. I also ordered the regular salmon roll, which was only $ 3.50(50 percent off of $ 7!), and was really yummy. I tend to prefer the simpler rolls anyway. Great place for lunch, I will probably be back.

Do you love some Kuchi? I love the Kuchi experience that I had!(It’s hard not to make fun of the name really…) Half off on selected rolls! How can you beat that?! Well actually it’s more like 30% off because their rolls were priced slightly higher than their competitors of the same kind. They charge $ 14/$ 15 for each roll so about $ 7/$ 8 while other restaurants regular prices are around $ 10/$ 11. The downside is that your choices are limited to the discounted rolls though, unless you want to pay $ 15 for a sushi roll and their quality is not THAT amazing to warrant paying $ 15 but it’s pretty decent for $ 7!!! The last time we were there we had the roll that has tempura flakes and they were not fresh or crunchy at all, that’s a no no. Other than that, the other 2 rolls we had tasted pretty good! They also gave us fresh wasabi on our Saba nigiri, which was also half off. Their salmon skin hand roll was pretty good too(half off as well)! The chef at the end gave us a few pieces of complimentary rolls as well to try out! I was also super happy they sell Brick’s macaron ice cream!!! For the price, we would definitely come back to try more other stuff!

came by on a sunday afternoon around 1230 and the place was empty, which we thought was weird, but over the course of lunch we did see a good number of people stop by to pick up a carry-out order and when we left there were maybe 3 other parties eating there. Food: Chicken Katsu lunch special — they give you a lot of veggies, an assortment of tempura and the chicken looked like white meat chicken! everything was good. Todo roll — there was a lot going on with this roll. almost too much. it was tasty though. Soft shell crab maki roll — lot of rice. nothing special. Everything is competitively priced(many of their rolls are 50% off), they offer a large menu, and a lot of korean dishes such as soft tofu bibimbap etc(all of the workers are korean). Service was very friendly and prompt as well. I don’t live in the area so not sure if I’ll have the opportunity to go back, but sushi kuchi was definitely worth trying.

The rolls here are HUGE, tasty and very well presented. Prices are very much affordable as well as the quality of fish they serve. The windows are tinted pitch black so you cannot see into the place, but I can assure you that this place is definitely open and you will be impressed with the décor. Very open and spacious restaurant, with a sushi bar located in the far back. I was immediately greeted by Sarah and she kindly took our order and made us feel comfortable. I ordered 3 rolls as well as the fried calamari which was in a shape of fish sticks. Still, the calamari was very delicious. The rolls were pretty huge considering the fact that they were the discounted ones… actually pretty much the whole menu was 50% off(YAYYYYY!!) Everything in here is very clean and well maintained, which is what I always look for when eating out. Customer service was good and the experience was great! I will definitely be coming back here for most of my sushi needs! I definitely recommend you checking this place out and its great for big groups or maybe bringing your date :)

There hasn’t been a sushi restaurant I’ve wanted to rank 5-stars more than Sushi Kuchi, at least for reputation’s sake(come on — this name & logo is cray!) But the fact that Kuchi wasn’t fresh AND was 50% off?! Dang, this isn’t a good look for the Kuchi. Ended up ordering the Playboy Roll & the Bad Boy Roll – which, by the way, weren’t even the funniest names on the menu. Ever heard of a sushi restaurant named Kuchi serving a Lips Roll??? Yeah… I swear all of our orders must be some type of Freudian slip! Anyway both of our rolls were disappointing. The salmon on the Playboy Roll wasn’t bright & soft but rather kind of dull and chewy — definitely left a whole lot to be desired. The Bad Boy Roll sounded good on paper, but the fact that each piece is topped with a slice of lemon(with rind still on!) just doesn’t work — I don’t want to have to deconstruct each bite. This place sadly comes in at 2 stars. At least service was super friendly & attentive, but hopefully they can step their Kuchi game up.

I’m quite impressed with this sushi joint! The first time it wasn’t too fantastic but like all places I give them two tries. They are pretty fantastic! Super quick at getting everything to you too! Sushi here in one of the best that I have ever had. They have a large selection of the 50% off too. They came by and gave us samples of some fried stuff during our lunch too. We had 3 of us and we got about 8 rolls and edamame for about $ 55. Staff if friendly. Service is quick. Definitely swing by this place for lunch or dinner and you will not be disappointed. Try the garlic edamame. All the rolls that we had(50% off items) were very good and seemed fresh.

The boyfriend had an appointment on Camp Pendleton and on the way back down, we wanted some sushi. We found this spot and decided to check it out. I had their Chirashi bowl which looked nice, but it wasn’t anything special. Their décor was nice, and the service was good, but the food was just eh.
