Synaptic Cycles Bicycle Rentals

Took an impromptu trip to Carlsbad with my hubby and while I was at the airport (departing for California), I searched the web for bike rentals. After contacting a few rental options in/​around San Diego, I found Synaptic Cycles. Called and was greeted by Joe, who was extremely accommodating. Asked for my current bike measurements, saddle, pedals, etc. upon arrival in San Diego, he called to set up bike delivery at the resort we were staying! Wow! We didn’t even have to go pick it up! He arrived when expected and here’s where true customer service begins. I pulled out my shoes with my cleats and found that I had misinformed him on the cleats I had. I ran to my room to get the pedals that went with the cleats only to find I had left them at home! Joe was amazing! He took one of my shoes down to REI to see about purchasing the correct pedal for my cleats. The pedals couldn’t be found. So, I began calling around and found the pedals at a shop in Encinitas. The shop was closing, so I had to pick up in the AM, which I did. Joe called me mid-​morning to see if I’d gotten the pedals and when I told him I was at the bike shop, he came to pick me up! Well, we drove all the way back to the resort only to find out that they’d sold me the wrong pedals. So, he took me back to the shop (where they promptly exchanged pedals for the correct ones). Back to the resort where Joe added my pedals to his Focus Cayo & had me fitted in fewer than 10 minutes. Off I went on my fast and furious ride through Encinitas & the surrounding areas. I was SO pleasantly surprised with the little Cayo! It was responsive and quick and climbed like a dream! I ride a top of the line Specialized back home, but this bike was extremely comfortable and instantaneously rideable! Loved it! I don’t know what was more valuable, the high end bike with DI2 shifting components or the stellar customer service! I would venture back to the area JUST to ride with Synaptic Cycles! Thanks, Joe!

Rented a bike over the holidays and had a fantastic experience. The bike was delivered straight to my door and it was already dialed into the measurements I sent ahead of time. The Calfee carbon bike I got rode like a dream, and the price was definitely competitive given the quality of the bike and service.
All in all, great experience.
