Not a stand out restaurant for Carmel, but the sushi and presentation was excellent. The pictures presented actually reflect what is served. Everything was delicious and fresh. Don’t be turned off by the dog eared lunch menu at the door or the massage business next door. Be bold, venture inside, and ask for the sushi chef to Wow you. You won’t be disappointed.

My fiancé and i are getting married in Pebble beach this year so we are over getting things organized. We have been three in our 7 days here and it has been spot on. The waitresses work hard and are obviously very busy but still mange to have a smile on there face. Tonight we had the pleasure of sitting at the bench and talking to the chef who was so nice and was telling us about all the dishes he was preparing the menu has lots of variety and has something for everyone. We will be recommending it all for our wedding guests ! Thanks again Sushi heaven!

The sushi is a 5 star no doubter. The Tom and Jerry roll may have been the best prices of sushi I have had all year. Absolutely delicious and unique with a fried rice base and spicy tuna and avocado filling. The 911 roll and dragon roll were also great. We started with the Goyza as well which was good but not great. The thing that makes this a 4 star review is the fact that the ambiance and organization of seating people was a complete disaster on the night we went. We made a reservation at 630 but there was no table waiting for us.(Many others appeared to have the same issue) we wanted to sit in the back so we weren’t up front with everyone’s butts in our face while we tried to eat and they tried to wait so it took a bit longer to get seated than I would expect having a reservation. Nevertheless we sat down 30 minutes later and then the service picked up nicely and food came out fast and with proper attention. They must have been short staffed because everyone working there seemed to be serving food, seating people, taking call in orders, etc… seems like we may have been there on an off night but the place was packed and sushi was great.

This place was so good! Such great customer service as well. And the prices are amazing. Me and my Fiancé came here after a trip to the beach got 4 different types of rolls to share amongst ourselves and spent less then 40 bucks! We left with full tummies and a smile on our face!

My grandma and I try to go to Sushi Heaven at least once a week! The food never disappoints. The fish always tastes fresh, the presentation is always beautiful, and the prices are great(especially for Carmel!). I always leave satisfied! They always bring a little cucumber salad and bowl of miso soup as soon as you sit down(complimentary). It’s definitely a thoughtful touch. I usually order the Rainbow Roll– it’s a great way to get variety for a good price. Their salmon nigiri is also one of my favorites And the seaweed salad is a refreshing appetizer. Just make sure to make a reservation on weekend nights :)

We ordered one Katsu Don, but it turned out to be merely any fried pork(Katsu) in it. We reported to the waiter disappointedly, and the waiter promised that we could change our order free of charge while we could keep it. However in the end the boss came out and insisted to charge us for the Katsu Don. Moreover, we didn’t get our complementary salad and miso soup until we asked when we were about to leave. I’m giving them 1 star because of the Sans-Katsu Don and their disappointing service.

We’ve been going to Sushi Heaven for at least 10 years and it’s always wonderful. The fish is always top grade and fresh. Just celebrated our 39th dating anniversary at Sushi Heaven and all the dishes were perfect. Buttery Hamachi, perfectly presented amaebi, delicious albacore. A nice saki selection. Soon, the owner, is always attentive and knows his fish! Sushi Heaven can get crazy crowded on summer weekends-just like every other place in Carmel, so be patient with the small and wonderful staff as they work their magic. They also have a back patio serving area that is nice for lunch or a quieter dinner for two. We like sitting at the sushi bar to watch Soon’s knife art as he turns fresh whole fish into a delicious feast. Six stars.

This place came highly recommended by a local couple we met on the beach, and it didnt disappoint. Came with complimentary salad and miso soup, and the rolls, oh so fresh. Chef was very invested in making us happy, and they let us start before dinner opening so we could hit the road

It’s ok if you never had sushi before. I’m surprised by the reviews giving 4 or 5 stars but when it comes to taste… I know it sounds stupid but this is the first time I see a plate of Gyoza coming in 5 pcs instead of 6. And everything is a bit like this. A little bit less of everything compare to other places I had rolls before(less flavor, the wasabi is a bit less spicy, the rice quality is under what I had in many places…). Definitely ok if you are in hurry. But for the same price there are other great places around.

I’d give it one and a half if I could, I have to say it was pretty bad. I was on vacation with my girlfriend and we were craving sushi. This place got rave reviews and we were by the ocean so we figured it had to be good. We couldn’t decide on what to order cause at the time nothing sounded good and the funny thing is looking at the menu I don’t even remember what we ordered and I always remember what I ordered. I think we got like a crunch roll and and rainbow roll or something. I don’t remember the quality of the fish or shrimp tempura cause I was so disturbed by the rice. It was some of the worst prepared sushi rice from a restaurant that I’ve ever had. It was like sushi you would eat at an all you can eat seafood buffet or from the supermarket. This could be the best place to get sushi in Carmel and they just have bad sushi. I couldn’t imagine this place surviving in Los Angeles.

So good. Fresh salad and miso right when you walk in. Miso has big chunks of tofu. The salmon(sake) nigiri was outstanding and reasonably priced at $ 4.50. I ordered the Avocado Special based off of the pic I saw here on Unilocal. You have to try this if you have not. It is a half baseball size of avocado filled with spicy tuna and spicy crab. It’s covered in in avocado sauce and sweet eel sauce. The Spicy Tuna roll that my wife got was on point. I would recommend this place to anyone. Great prices for being in the middle of Carmel

Best sushi in town!!! I love this place. I am very picky about my fish. I would say i will go eat sushi even though there is poor service if the sushi is great. I come here not only the fish is very fresh and great quality and also the great service. They are super friendly. I usually sit at the bar and they make me feel special. I would recommend this place hands down to any one who loves great sushi.

I think sushi heaven is a little generic for my liking, especially coming from LA where we have a plethora of delicious Japanese restaurants. Our meal started off on a low note with the server forgetting to bring my sake until our meal was nearly done. I had to order more food just to go with the late sake. The sushi itself was just alright. I tried the uni dynamite, while presentation was beautiful, the uni was lacking. Agedashi tofu did not come with the usual garnish of scallions, grated daikon. Dissapointing… I think Carmel is lacking in sushi joints therefore don’t have much to compare to.

About time I made a review. I’ve been a regular for a few years and I’d first like to start by saying THANKYOU for creating a totally cute&charming atmosphere. It’s a little hole-in-the-wall place so once you walk through the doors, you feel as though you have been transported. As soon as you enter you are surprised to feel the orange walls are extremely inviting. The focal point is the sushi bar. The walls behind the chefs’ work stations are the perfect warm burgundy contrast to the vibrant orange. It allows their area of craft to stand out. The restaurant is shaped going vertically as you enter so it can get really tight when it’s busy with tables &/or chairs(the occasional folding chair when they really run out) but I find it charming that way because it really shows how much they will try to accommodate their customers. Their beautiful outdoor seating looks like they are doggy friendly and capable of holding up to four small tables. I personally enjoy the very end of the bar where I can watch the sushi chefs at work. Free show! haha I LOVE the HOUSESPECIALROLL.(It’s not on the menu because it’s a specialty roll) It has spicy tuna, spicy crab, panko fried shrimp, avocado, cucumber, & the escolor fish. It’s wrapped in a white soy paper with sesame seeds. Then there’s the spicy mayo, unagi sauce, & sriracha sauce. Topped off by tobiko! Killer! It’s…perfecttttt. They usually have a «specials» board. On my last visit, they had live abalone, toro, hokigai, aji, fresh osterssss, and some of the freshest halibut I’ve had in this area. I wanted a special halibut roll so I was suggested a Hirame chef’s special where the chef would choose the right ingredients to compliment the flavor of the Halibut. I can’t recall exactly what went inside, but there was definitely spicy tuna, crab, avocado, cucumber, shizo leaves, ponzu sauce… and I can’t remember the rest unfortunately. I died from how I impressed I was with their version of fusion twist flavors. One bite and I was done. Ooh I just LOVEE their grilled foods also. I never really ordered from their kitchen much but I tried some of a friend’s chicken teriyaki and wow they have the BEST grill flavor from the others I’ve tried in comparison. I love that I can taste the citrus in the teriyaki sauce. I usually end my meal with their green tea ice cream which tastes exactly as the waitress describes. Like a walnutty green tea ice cream. I wish I could get this green tea ice cream anywhere:(

Amazing sushi! First off, the atmosphere is great. The walls are lined with pictures of the main sushi chef with some famous people but a majority of the people that eat there often. It’s clear they really care about their customers :) I recently ate their on a Monday night and went back on Wednesday, it was soo good! I had the agedashi tofu, cucumber salad, the seaweed salad, the red dragon, Tom & jerry, and the paradise roll. All amazing! No complaints. The fish is fresh, and there is just the right amount of sauce. Oh, how could I forget about dessert. I ordered the mochi(mango and chocolate) they were so sweet, they gave us 2 orders of each! Probably cause we were there the other night. I will be back, when I’m in town!

I should have listened to everyone else and ordered sushi here… but it was getting chilly at night and I wanted something warm, so I ordered the sukiyaki. It’s definitely the worse sukiyaki I’ve ever had in my life. The beef was super hard and cut into tiny rectangular pieces, nothing even close to the thin slices of tender meat that I expected. The portion was also incredibly little — there was barely any meat and vegetables and the pot was tiny. Without the rice I’m positive I would have left hungry. To top it off, it was expensive! I think like $ 13 or $ 15? For that price, I would have much rather gone somewhere else or probably should’ve just ordered something else. Keep in mind this review is me ranting about the sukiyaki… but people I came with ordered sushi and thought it was decent.
