What a great cozy place nestled in the Carmel Plaza. I had dinner there last Friday and must say, the food was decent. The waitress, Christie really made me give 5 stars. Her personality was warm and she made the entire experience worth returning. In fact I will be taking my grandmother there for her birthday. Call ahead of time and make sure Christie is there, she is incredible and will see to it you have a good experience!

Delightful little café in the middle of a mini shopping plaza. I stopped here for an apéritif, after working up an appetite running up and down Ocean Avenue. The wine list was surprisingly plentiful. As one of three restaurants owned by restauranteur Firok, Café Beaujolais provides the perfect garden setting in an otherwise uninteresting courtyard. The wine list is diverse, offering many aged reds, sparkling wines and plenty of whites. Firok even make his own wine that is served at each restaurant! We purchased 2 bottles of the BLK57 Fushion because it was undeniably refreshing, crisp and luscious! The perfect refreshment for a mildly warm afternoon in Carmel. The owner was at the front to seat us, as well as at the end to thank us for our wine purchase. The food menu options look satisfying too. I’ll have to check the cuisine on my next visit to lovely Carmel.

My Niece and her husband came for a visit, Prez /Valentines day weekend, She had not visited in nearly 10 years, so I wanted to take them Monterey and Carmel. Valentines day evening we were in Carmel and everything was packed. We happened on this place, I had been wanting to try for a long time, and the hostess gave us a table outside. It was a great evening so we took it. The waitress(a blonde woman, I don’t remember if she told us her name) was pretty much ignoring us, yet would glance at us, for about 30 minutes. Finally my Niece asked if we could get drinks and menus. The waitress asked if we had reservations. I told her the hostess given us the table. We finally ordered and the waitress brought out the escargot and left. we had no plates or napkins, so we just ate them with the fork that came with them. I had to ask for napkins afterwards, as it was buttery and we needed napkins. Main courses came, I had the Paella, which was good. My Niece had ribs, her potatoes were actually cold to the touch(she made me touch them to confirm), so she sent her plate back. Her husband had a lamb burger and asked for cheese and bacon to be added. It came out with neither, so he had to send his food back too. We also had to ask for drink refills. I the food issues could have been overlooked, if the waitress had not been so rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. I understand it was a very busy night but the other wait staff seemed friendly and attentive, as they helped the tables that were theirs. It is unlikely, that I will ever go back to this place. I was really disappointed, especially since my niece rarely visits here. I was really trying to show her what a great area I live in.

This review is for their espresso drinks. The reason my family came here was because Carmel Coffee & Cocoa Bar was under renovation when we visited. The staff was very friendly, but that was the only good part. The drinks were kind of disappointing, granted their forte is not in espresso drinks. The drinks are also super pricey — imagine Starbucks price, but with way smaller cups. My mom ordered their normal coffee, which tasted pretty average. It tasted just like coffee anywhere else. The good part was it was not sour/very bitter. I ordered a mocha and thought it was a bit too sweet. It was not terrible, but I kept washing it down with water.

2011 Sonoma Merot was surprising smooth and great with the fish. Very nice setting at night. My wife and I started with panseared sea bass and my wife had crab ravioli with mushroom sauce. Staff was very pleasant. We sat next to glass fire pit. I will be back.

Friendly staff, nice selection and affordable in an expensive town, Bistro Beaujolais hit everything I was looking for on a Saturday night. I was visiting with my girlfriend and was trying to find a reasonable place to eat out without an extremely long line. We found this place on Unilocal and though there are lack of reviews we took our chances. It exceeded our expectations, and we enjoyed a pleasant and filling meal. This place is not going to give you an incredible dining experience, but the food met all expectations and the portion sizes were perfect. You get exactly what you ask for, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The selection was good as I had the Paella and my girlfriend had the crab raviolis. Although, I didn’t get to try the raviolis, the Paella was good. Filled with a good amount of sea food, the items were cooked well and quite tasty. A few of the items lacked a bit of seasoning, but all in all a very delightful meal. One miss, was I wish that bread was included with your meal; however this is a small miss that didn’t take away from the overall experience. I will definitely come back here when I am back in town.

Bad experience… We were extremely disappointed. I guess there was not enough time to table set up(even we made reservations hours ago).

The setting is so nice and relaxing. Sit outside, it’s like eating in a garden, by the fire. The waitress/bartender, Christy, was very helpful and suggested the organic pomegranate cocktail — 5 stars for the drink alone! Overall, everything was great. Food was great, atmosphere was great, and even the other guests were great! We made friends with everyone around the fire!

Came here for lunch today, and was a bit disappointed. Was a great venue; located in the middle of the Carmel Plaza. Service was fantastic, and the wine was delicious. However, the food we ordered was sub-par at best. The Margarita Pizza tasted like Target pizza. Not to discredit frozen Target pizza, but when paying $ 13 for pizza there’s a certain expectation for quality. We’ll probably skip the food next time and stick with the wine. Again, the servers were fantastic; even gave us a hospitality discount for being in the industry.

Stopped here for lunch, mama’s pasta with 17 spices was one of the best. Had a bit of a kick to it. Service was good. Clean place. Nice little place to stop for a lunch. I would definitely recommend this place.

Had dinner at bistro Beaujolais at around 9, we came in on a whim from Beverly Hills. the restaurant had a few customers and we were treated more than terrific. The staff was great and the food was very good. My daughter had the Portabella hamburger and I had the the Greek salad with chicken. I loved the atmosphere and especially the plaza and open fire outside. We sat inside because my daughter was a little chilly. Great light dinner. I give them five!

We recently visited Carmel and tried a few restaurants there. Unfortunately, this one was a disappointment. We only had lunch there. May be dinners are better. I don’t really know. But don’t go there for lunch. The service is okay but food is very, very average, not something you would expect from a French place in Carmel. The lunch for two people was $ 50 and one of the sandwiches we ordered was almost uneatable: wet bread with too much basil. Never go there again.

Great service from Gary. very focused, attentive and knowledgeable on the excellent food and local organic wines. Seating outside in patio by the fire allowed my new bride and I to enjoy a fantastic Honeymoon dinner with an amazing versatile guitarist(Mark), complete with the rising moon. I had the Short Ribs, absolutely mouthwatering and tender with the flavorful reduction of Boujoulais au jeu, and my wife had the French Onion Soup, which she really enjoyed… an excellent experience!

Came here with my wife and daughter late in the evening, when they were about to close. We were the only ones in the restaurant we came in for dessert and wine. It appeared that the only staff was a male and female who were both so friendly and warm. We had a great conversation about wine, craft beer and movies. They went over the top with their service — the wine and dessert was great! One of out best experiences on our road trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

We were extremely disappointed! Our paninis were greasy and sparse and not cooked enough, the fries were more like fast food. We sent the sandwiches back and they came out wrong the second time. The bathroom was filthy — more like a gas station bathroom. Considering the meager sandwich cost $ 13 — it was truly disappointing and way overpriced. Considering the caliber of restaurants nearby — this is one to skip. We won’t be returning. The ONLY saving grace was the staff — our food servers were really nice!

It was a nice warm Sunday and I got a hankering for a drink and to enjoy some sun. Grabbed Sir Winston and headed to Estebans — unfortunately the patio was packed — plan B for us. I decided to head to Carmel, the most dog-friendly of all the towns and couldn’t really think of any patio that would allow us some sunlight. Since I had a quick errand in the Plaza, we stopped at Bistro Beaujolais. We were the only other table there — weird I know at around 6-ish on Sunday night. We were greeted and helped really quickly. Since I spotted some mussels on the menu I ordered those. This is usually my first choice if I see them on a menu. The mussels and clams in this dish were a little small(the meat inside), but the broth was really, really flavorful and so good. Nice and salty and saffron-ey. It was a nice Morroccan or African touch. My only complaint is that there should have been more. Oh, I got a little tapenade to start with. I didn’t get any bread so I ate it with a spoon, I assumed I should — bread was brought out a later. I ordered a dessert of chocolate mousse cake or something. Lacklustre. Just completely lacking any distinctive flavor. The patio filled up a little by the time I was ready to leave. The prices are a little high — even the chicken which is usually the least expensive dish on a menu was up there in price. The atmosphere and service would bring me back to try something else.
