Fresh Market

Fresh Market appeals to the bourgeois side of my personality: the side that likes to shop for organic produce surrounded by mood lighting while listening to instrumental jazz music. Yes, this store has all that. If you’re familiar with the West Coast grocery stores Bristol Farms or Gelson’s, Fresh Market is just like those two, except smaller in size — I’d call it more «intimate.»
This is one of those grocery stores that I enjoy just walking around and looking at things. During my last visit, I discovered that they sell a Fresh Market brand of hand soap that smells like lime and cilantro! It took a lot of willpower not to buy it right on the spot. But it made me happy to know something like that existed anyway.
One thing to keep in mind about this location: the entering and exiting doors open almost immediately onto the street. That’s no big deal when you’re entering the store, but if you forget when you’re exiting, then you might push your cart out in the path of a car! It’s seriously that close. Be careful, shoppers!

The Fresh Market is a great addition to the area for Carmel Westfield foodies. What I like most is how much they try. I see a concerted effort to connect and communicate with the buyer. I believe the the weekly «Big Meal» campaign to the «Tuesday Specials» that feature incredible prices on staples such as milk, beef and chicken, are a direct result of their frequent surveys. To me, that says they are listening and I appreciate that.
They do a great job with customer service, ambiance and over all food quality. They excel in the produce, seafood and meat departments. However, I can’t give them a 5-​star, because I still think they need to finesse some of the product selection — particularly the ready-​made deli, frozen food and dairy departments. The dairy doesn’t get enough turn-​over, so you have to watch your expiration dates carefully. The frozen food department has very little of interest unless you are a gourmet ice cream fanatic. And the ready-​mades just need refreshing.
Over all, I give them high marks. A particular shout-​out to the employees. They really do a great job hiring and that makes for a pleasant shopping experience.

First visit here & I was amazed at the floral selection upon entering. They are currently having a Friday special $ 15 for a dozen roses + a dozen chocolate covered strawberries! Walking farther into the store I notice classical music playing, nice ceramic tiled floors & non-​fluorescent lighting throughout… I feel strangely at home.
They have a smaller selection of groceries to choose from but it’s not surprising considering the store is on the smaller side. Despite having less variety, I’ve found several positives. There is a good selection of low sodium chips for my family (not as low sodium as some at Whole Foods but fairly close…& you have to have some variety right?) They also have a variety of wine chilling in the cooler with other non-​alcoholic beverages. A small selection of «create your own 6 pack» & a decent selection of non-​chilled wines rounds out their 21+ section. Prices are comparable to Trader Joe’s & Whole Foods but I really really like the very friendly staff & ambiance of this location. While I can’t do ALL my grocery shopping here it’ll be a nice change of pace.
(I’m making sure my husband learns about the floral department… I REALLY like flowers!)

The Fresh Market is such an enjoyable experience.
When you walk in you are immediately greeted with a small but sweet flower area and an area to grab a small taste of coffee. You’ll notice pretty quickly that this Fresh Market is quite compact-​the only reason I can’t give it a five-it’s almost always busy and hardly any room to get through.
That aside –Fresh Market is wonderful. Plenty of fresh produce to choose from, yummy rotisserie chicken to pick up, and a plentiful Olive bar as well. The meat and seafood counter has a ton to choose from and there is always fresh bread and desserts to take home.
You will even find sushi, ready made sandwiches, delicious cheeses and a huge wine selection!
There is so much more to Fresh Market than what you might think by its small size. It is higher prices than a larger grocery store but you’ll find fresh, organic options that make it worth it. They’ll even take your groceries out for you.
It’s worth it go there, I love stopping in there whenever I can.

Love everything they sell, everyone should try their Chicken salad.

Great fresh selection at every instance. I’m giving 4 stars for quality products and very fresh produce. Just wish it carried the diversity of produce that Whole Foods carries.

Nice healthy selection… Some prices are on the high side, but others not so much. Their Tuesday night prime rib dinner to go is a winner at $ 11.00!

Best priced Ahi Tuna … usually ½ the cost of other comparable places. The customer service is not only good but they actually seem happy, I KNOW HUH??? Sometimes I just go to the store and walk around. nice way to get butterflies in the belly and it doesn’t cost a penny. Where was I? Oh yes … bins and bins of snack-​a-​lious foods. Great place to go to put together a gift basket for that certain someone you have no idea what to buy for too.

I’ve been to the College Ave. location which has more space and therefore more choices, but the Carmel location is closer to home and is excellent on it’s own. The selection of meat is just beautiful. Who knew you could actually salivate over gorgeous raw red meat! The butchers will give you preparation suggestions and trim things any way you like. The Deli departmenet has a wonderful selection of pre-​made meals ready to take home, warm up and eat. Complete with a nice selection of cheeses. Extensive wine selection. The staff is knowledgable and always ready to help find what you need.

This is an amazing store for foodies like myself. It may not be practical for everyday grocery shopping for the masses, but it definitely provides a beautiful shopping experience. You can find a lot of specialty foods here and the perishable departments are impeccable. Something to check out for sure.
