I heard about this place because it was the site of a Happy Hour get-together announced on . I missed the MeetIn event, but sought this place out later, if only because of the strangely compelling name. I was hoping they would have some hot wings or equally sinful pub grub to snack on along with an after-work adult beverage. Unfortunately, the day I chose to visit(a Thursday), their cook was out and so no food was being prepared. This is a fairly well-kept spacious bar that advertises itself as a Sports Bar & Grill, but during the week maybe it isn’t all that active. I counted less than ten patrons at around 8 o’clock in the p.m., but I wouldn’t doubt it could get rockin’ on the weekends. I saw some DJ turntables and appreciated that the place had two pool tables, lots of TV screens, and three electronic dartboards. But the real charm was the pinball machine. They have an Elvis pinball machine that is a keeper. I played well enough to win a free game. And there were tons of bells and whistles… Elvis launched into«You ain’t nuthin’ but a hound-dog» everytime I spanked his puppy. And with a furor unmatched since Roger Daltry played Tommy, I frantically juggled the King’s balls while he shook his pelvis. An establishment worth visiting in the netherworld of Carmichael, if only to survey the landscape of potential drinking spots and bear witness to THEKING! Maybe next time they’ll be able to serve me a fried banana and peanut butter sandwich…
