I would say the mozzarella and basil sandwich is so good! That is my go to sandwich there, I add grilled onion and that makes the sandwich sing. They have great chili, and the burgers are very tasty, not the best I’ve ever had but good. They have taco salads they are okay. Not a place to go if you want a really good salad. Service is okay, it is a cool place that lots of kids from the high school go to hang out at. Nice neighborhood burger joint.

Not sure if this is Willies or Varsity, but I feel like me, out of all people could of whipped any of the four dishes we ordered just a easy/not very good. I’m sorry, it wasn’t good food. I had high hopes for their food considering this is not to far from my apartment. Formally known as Willies, but now varsity, The restaurant is college theme, great location, food is not very good.

Staff is very helpful and friendly, the atmosphere is open and trendy. Only thing is it’s pretty humid inside. Food is pretty decent. I got a mushroom burger and my husband had a regular burger. Good size burgers and very tasty. Their regular fries are mediocre, not much flavor and kind of cold. Their onion rings are pretty good just more breading on them than necessary. All in all good burgers. If you come get a burger.

Stopped by for dinner tonight. The Hamburgs are outstanding! Thick beef patty, fresh vegetables, and well made. I would recommend this as a good handmade burger joint. Would have gone five stars, but the staff did not seem to know the menu. It was my first time eating at this place, and I had a few questions. They seemed annoyed that I was asking, and gave short not very helpful answers. Overall the food was great though. Try the garlic fries and the lime Ricky!

I stopped in today to have a beer as they have a rather larger sign for«beer» outside. The draft selection is okay. A few handles and mostly IPAs. Price was okay at $ 6. Dinning room is extremely uncomfortable. Two small TVs with one on ESPN and the other is playing music. That is the good part… It is hot and humid. So much so that I wouldn’t return. Didn’t eat the food, so can’t comment.

Good burgers, service is good, nice local feel, a rough on the pricey side for the burger you get which is good but not great, but overall I would recommend

Awesome burgers. Husband kept raving about them so I tried. Now it is a regular. Staff is fine but the food is incredible. Beef is very good. Place is clean and service fast. I think as most places that younger staff need to work on customer connection. More the times but does not keep me from eating here on a regular basis.

I would give zero if I could. Ate lunch here with my husband both ate cheeseburgers and split a side of fries. Tried to go to the park afterwards but unfortunately both of us got incredibly sick. Both ended up vomiting and suffering. Please don’t eat here find somewhere better!

The food was ok but I will not return because I was overcharged. When I compared my receipt to my bank account, they overcharged me. It was only $.85 but it is the principal. So, if you are going to eat here, check your receipt to your account.

Delicious. Great food. Hammer 4 is amazing. The grilled chicken sandwich and chicken quesadilla are the bestest. And the ice cream… gosh

This rating is based only on my order of a grilled cheese. I assumed they served this, but what I received today was melted cheese on a hamburger bun. Not grilled, which means it would have been cooked on a grill with butter or oil. Just say you don’t serve grilled cheese or explain to the paying customer what their getting.

First off .69 for using my Visa? Really? Then I ordered chili cheese… yes cheese fries and got a chili fry that supposedly had cheese. It might have had 2 or 3 strands of cheese… Yes strands. In my opinion I will never eat at this place again. The staff were rude and condescending. This place is way to expensive for what it is and provides. I would give no stars if it was an option.

Small portions, tougher than leather pastrami, substandard burger, soggy toppings. 1.50 taco was gross. Only thing was the fries and coke. Sad because their broadway location in sacramento has AWESOME Food. This place, huge disappointment. Hardly anyone in the dine in area at 715pm. I let the staff know my food was bad and cold all They said was OHHSORRY and didnt offer to help. Chk# 180 last $ 20 ill ever spend here.

There is no way to hate on a place that let a you have 4 patties, bacon, AND pastrami on your burger! Great place, cool atmosphere, nice people, and excellent food! Out with friends or out with the family it’s a great place to go!

It’s a cool little local spot. I ordered the regular double cheese burger, fries and drink for $ 10. The food was ready quick about 5 minutes the burger is fairly standard two thin patties, 4 slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, thousand island etc. Seasoned well, they load you up on fries, which are also seasoned well not too salty. The restaurant is clean they clear the tables quickly, restrooms also looking ok. Overall its good and worth stopping by if your in the neighborhood as long as you have realistic expectations for a burger joint.

Hubs drove me across town to get to this place for lunch last Saturday. He grew up in Burbank and raves about Tommy Burgers. So he has been wanting to try this place for the longest time. As we drove to Willie’s, he was explaining that the burgers have a spread of chili on it with a thick slice of tomato. I asked him, isn’t that a chili burger?!? He gave me his«woman, are you crazy» look. Hubs is serious about his burgers. Ok, so we walk in and review the menu. We ordered a Slammer C, Slammer CC, and side of chili fries. My burger was juicy and the chili was thick and was moderately spread on the patty. It was not at all what I visualized, thank goodness. I visualized a sloppy joe type chili spread. The chili was meaty vs beany. The tomato slice was thick and firm, it added a great texture to the burger. The chili fries included onions and dill pickle slices. The size of the fries is shoestring. The condiments include complimentary jalepeno peppers and another kind of peppers(I forget the name of it but I took a picture). Pricing is affordable. My burger was under $ 4. Ordering protocol: Order at the front counter and pay. They shout out your order # and you pickup your food at the counter. Added bonuses: They sell Vic’s ice cream. The food menu is pretty large. They have an outdoor patio. Affordable pricing.(Sorry fellow Unilocalers, I should have taken a photo of the menu board).

Go for the burger with chili… it is the best North of Tommys in LA. Great for groups of hungry people who like burgers.

Husband and I really enjoyed lunch here today, heading out to check a pond out and found this place on Unilocal. Fairly empty inside, sat out on the patio since it was gorgeous outside. I went with a double cheeseburger add bacon and teriyaki with pineapple and onion rings, burger was delicious, thin patties, good bun. Heavy on the produce which I wound up picking off(I wanted a hamburger not a salad) they use Yoshida teriyaki sauce which is my fave, sadly the pineapple wasnt ripe and the thick cut bacon was hard to bite through on the burger but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Onion rings had a great batter and were deliciously crispy. Husband went with the double chili burger and chili fries and he loved it all, there wasn’t a bite left. Soda was also fresh, bubbly and great quality for a fountain machine. They also serve Mexican food which was interesting, I prefer my Mexican food from an actual Merxian restaurant so I’d never try it. Everything was hot fresh and yummy. We spent $ 27.27 which wasn’t bad for the amount and quality, we’d definitely go back.

I would have sworn that I’ve already reviewed Willie’s. It is, after all, my first burger-love in Sacramento. The burger itself admittedly doesn’t stand up to other burgers I’ve had since. It’s okay. A thinish patty, nicely seasoned, but too many cold ingredients for a really good balance. The fries are quite nice though. Very crisp and they have a nice seasoning that they use. However, the real stars of the show are the beignets, and the onion rings, which are oddly related to the beignets. Let’s start with the beignets. First, they used to serve a really nice breakfast here, but I don’t believe they do any longer. This is a holdover from that menu, and it’s worth a try. Think donut squares, and you don’t be too far off. Now, let’s talk onion rings. For all the other decent things here, this stands above all else. I believe they’re the best onion rings I’ve ever had, for that matter. They use the beignet dough to batter them, so you get a lot of sweetness and crunch once they’re fried up. I could eat these until I was sick! It’s tough to make my way to a place just for a side, but man, what a side. Try those rings.
