I just wanted to let ya’ll know, I lived in Carnation for roughly 20 years of my 24 lived so far, and before it was ever a QFC, it was an IGA. I’m not too sure of the details behind the corporations that own either, but it does seem IGA is more popular among the small towns anyway. There simply isn’t enough business in the town to run an optimal grocery store(e.g. they rarely carry such expensive cuts of steak as filet mignon[too bad so sad, I wouldn’t carry it either if it was probable to go bad]). The fact that it is not very well run(if you noticed) is the downside of any major supermarket changing hands. These things take time for the citizens who agreed to the new contract of IGA, and those that didn’t, to settle into their places. Either way you cut it, It’s still a darn good grocery store for all your necessities if you live in the area. Otherwise go to Costco pretty much. Much love. Zachary C.

I have to admit, I was excited when the QFC became an IGA. I always like to support the smaller businesses. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be very well run. I have tried over and over again to like the place and give them at least some of business, but I think I have finally learned to skip this place if I can. Pros: Always short check out lines. Staff seem friendly Cons: Prices are higher than any other grocery store in the Duvall /Carnation area. Think convenience store pricing not grocery store pricing. Selection of products is small Always seem to be out of at least one thing that is on my list. Well worn facility, other than moving some of the groceries around and changing the signs I don’t think anything else was done when they became an IGA. In short. If I lived in carnation I might keep coming is because it is the only game in town, but I just pass though on my commute so tend to stop somewhere else unless I’m in a huge hurry because the one thing they have going for them is that there is never a line at the check stand.

Awful! Spent the whole morning throwing up from eating cream cheese I bought 3 days ago that expired 2 months ago! :/check dates people… This store is notorious for selling expired and bad food!

It’s basically the only grocery store in a small town. It’s not a palace but it doesn’t have to be. Staff is friendly and down to earth.

Growing tired of their expired products. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly.

This is a terrible, depressing store. It’s stark and cold and not very clean. The prices are ridiculous. Goat cheese for $ 11.99 — are you kidding me? Seriously, all the prices are vastly more expensive than any other grocery store in the area. I’m sure they get away with this because it’s the only market in town, but I would drive out of town to shop before coming here again. We spent over $ 90 for 3 half filled bags of groceries to make homemade pot pies. YIKES! The staff are friendly, you never have to wait in line because there’s very few people actually shopping in here, but those are the only 2 good things I got out of my experience. I won’t be back. I wish QFC would have stayed here!

WA has liquor in their grocery stores now, so I came in to buy a bottle of Scotch for my folks. Wandered around for quite a while, found the wine and cold beer in one section, more cold beer in another section, but no sign of liquor. I gave up and headed to the register, planning to just run to the liquor store around the corner, when lo and behold the Liquor! There it was! In very intimidating large steel cages up by the front of the store. Apparently they keep it locked up and you have to ask for your bottle. Too much trouble, I went to the liquor store anyway. Plus, they didn’t have the Scotch I was looking for.

The produce in this store since it was taken over from QFC in my experience is seriously lacking in freshness and quality — besides being over priced. I have purchased three times now and have been disappointed all three times. Although, I suppose that since the other items at the IGA also tend to be over priced, they do tend to be consistant.

It looks like QFC. It smells like QFC. But alas, it is no longer QFC. IGA took over the old QFC in Carnation, and I stopped by after the July 4th parade to grab makings for sangria. I noticed that they had a more limited selection than the QFC, and the prices were higher. While most things were in about the same place, they had moved things like the ice cream around for no apparent reason. It seems to me that if you’re going to keep most things in the same place, why not all? I suppose it was alright; I don’t make too many trips out to Carnation and at least it was less crowded than Blake’s next door.
