Great food! Love the homemade strawberry jam! I had a basic breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. My husband had the chicken fried steak and that was delicious! We want to try the banana bread French toast next time! Lindsay was attentive and helpful! Prices were reasonable. Atmosphere was breachy and inviting. We’ll be stopping here for breakfast again!

Stopped by for breakfast this morning with my friend and family members! Very good and they give A LOT of food per order! I had the French Toast and it was the best! My friend had the Chile Relleno Omelette and it was delicious as well! I will from now on stop by on my commute from Ventura to Santa Barbara!

Before I leave carpenteria I stopped by to grab some breakfast at this restaurant and I am pleased with my experience! The staff was very friendly and the wait wasn’t bad at all! I ordered the Clam Chowder and I was very pleased with the results! I want to come back and bring my mom to this restaurant next time! 5 Star service in my book! I will come back next time

Stopped by this little spot in our way home from a weekend getaway. Food looked and smelled great so we were excited to find a good spot on Mother’s Day that wasn’t packed with a long wait. We ordered lunch and breakfast and I asked for one small request which was super light toasted bread, and over easy eggs with my breakfast. Neither one of those requests was met, my bread was literally blackened and my eggs were so thoroughly cooked they had hardly any yolk. The restaurant wasn’t nearly busy enough for this to have been okay, and had our server checked the ticket before running our food out she would’ve(I hope) had it fixed. I didn’t bother to complain because I was hungry, and thought it was fine but then our server didn’t even check up on us to see how we were doing or how the food tasted to us yet had plenty of time to do side work and connect with other tables. Not very happy with this.

My daughter came to visit us from LA and we ordered the food so we can eat it at our house. The price for the quality of food is ridiculous! The Hash browns are burned, the tri tip was over cooked and i asked for medium rare, we ordered a side of bacon and we got 4 little bacon bits!!! My son had the Sausage and eggs and for a kid to say the breakfast sucked then this tells you how bad it was. The only good thing about breakfast was the pancakes. I didn’t like the 7.95 price for 2 pancakes but they were actually good. Spent over 90.00 on 4 breakfast plates that denny’s does better. This morning we tried them again because i was going to leave a bad review last week but i read some reviews here and before i posted something bad i wanted to try it again. The Hash browns are burned again, this time i tried the eggs Benedict and for 15.00 i was not impressed. My son had the pancakes and 2 sausages(smalllllllll) and 2 eggs that looked like 1 egg for 10.00. When my wife picked up the food it was 30.00 and cold. Never giving my money to this café again. I would rather go to IHOP next time.

Great breakfast! The Bacado omelette is fantastic! Very big portions, a great patio or sidewalk tables for those with canine companions. Good prices!

Delicious and interesting for breakfast. I had a redneck Benedict which is not on the menu– corn muffin topped with sausage patty egg and country gravy with onions and a side of grits. Portions are large and satisfying. Prices are a little high but they are just about everywhere in town. If you are tired of the same ol same ol, give Esaus a try

This place SHOULD be really good but IMHO is so not. Pricey, crappy service, not very tasty yet heavily salted food. Cute place, though.

I just had one of the best Juevos Rancheros ever. Crispy tortillas on the bottom with eggs and a great sauce along with crunchy hash browns. The blueberry muffin on the side was awesome too. The only regret is we didn’t try the buttermilk pancakes which is their specialty.

The food isn’t as good as the Santa Barbara location was, but still decent. Also, I thought I’d use the restroom before leaving-and aside from only having one bathroom(with both toilet & urinal) as if it this wasn’t enough, there was a well used Kotex pad on the side of the toilet. Ewww! Bathroom needs to be cleaned & checked more often!!!

My husband and I go to Esau’s Café for breakfast when we come to town. I love the blueberry pancakes– they must use a whole container of blueberries because it is packed. The Bacado omelette is awesome as well. My husband loves the crunchy french toast with their fresh homemade strawberry jam. The crunch comes from corn flakes they are dipped in. Overall the experience is of a pleasant, casual beach diner with delicious food. We also take our dog and sit on the patio(do not sit by the tree with the ants though) and they give a dog bowl with water for your pet.

Carpinteria’s #1 spot for Bfast(and it looks great for lunch, too).If you’re anywhere near this area and you’re hungry and hankering for old school diner atmosphere with a beach vibe and AWESOME food, Esau’s got you covered. Since 1939 they’ve been serving up comfort food with a Mexican attitude. Super fresh, excellent prices and friendly service. I dig their homemade corned beef hash, my wife loves the blueberry wheat germ pancakes. They’ve got at chile relleno omelette for goodness sake. Plenty of selections for vegetarians and seafood lovers too. Oh yeah-they’ve got Bloody Mary’s, mimosas and beers.

Strikingly mediocre place, but on the better side of mediocre. It is what it looks like, a cheap diner where they sling eggs and bacon and burgers. The food was very typical of diners, and this is where they get the three stars from me. If I lived closer, I“m sure I would go back and eat there when I needed inexpensive and hearty. But there was nothing memorable about anything we ate and I certainly would never seek this place out again. The greeter at the door was very kind and the waiter was great when we saw him, but he tended to vanish for long periods and paying ended up taking 15 minutes more than it should have.

My sis, my very skinny 9 y.o. Son and I came here! Just this weekend and I don’t know if it was because we were«hangry» but it was delicious! There is quite a wait but not something super ridiculous! The waitresses are really great. My son got the Mickey Mouse pancake and practically inhaled it! He’s usually the last person to finish his food and it includes his favorite foods, but our jaws just dropped when he finished his food before us and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. My sister got the Californian eggs Benedict. Pretty good. I got the vegetarian burrito! And it was amazing. I added some cholula(my favorite hot sauce) and it was wonderful. They even carried some organic items. Hooray! This is a great place to sit down and relax… But if your in a rush and hurry mode… I don’t think this is the place for that!

This little place near the beach in Carpinteria is a solid beach diner. The food is good and served quickly. Service was beach casual, which is fine but we asked a fairly important question about worchestershire sauce and allergies, and never got an answer from our server. Oh, well. Like I said, the food was decent. I had a veggie scramble with poached egg, and the poached egg was perfect. Veggies were way over-sautéed, not crisp and soy sauce was used liberally — too salty for my tastes. Crispy hash browns were spot-on though. Hubby had loco moco and the burger was cooked nicely with soft rice and brown gravy. Simply presented, and simply prepared. I love being able to sit wherever I want and the dog-friendly patio was most welcome. Bathrooms are one stall for all and were clean on this visit. That’s a plus in my book.

Came for breakfast upon the recommendation of a local barkeep, and it didn’t disappoint. Yes, there was quite a wait and you are asked to seat yourself, so we made sure to keep out eyes peeled. As with most places in town, there was no AC. Bummer because it was hot. Once we nabbed some seats we ordered the Gnarly burrito, chicken enchiladas with eggs, and a side of sausage links. The burrito was rather large, as it came packed with ham, bacon, and sausage. I totally loved the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and eggs over easy. Jam packed with flavor. I’m not much of a bean person, but the pintos were tasty as hell. Beware, the OJ had pulp. If you’re anything like me and hate the stuff, it would’ve been nice for the waitress to know when asked. Not a deal breaker. Good breakfast option, overall.

I’m sitting here at home eating an omelette, but I’m crying because I’ve had a flashback of how the Greek omelette tasted at this Esau’s. I was hoping if I think hard enough my subpar omelette will turn into that beautiful creation made at that cute, quaint place. But the thing that I have found out from coming here is that I would murder someone just to have another taste of their homemade jam. Sadly, I’m not even joking. It’s literally the best I’ve had. I will end up traveling 2 hours just to stuff my face near death like last time because of their amazing portions at such a decent price. Will I be in pain? Yes. Very much. But I need Esau’s breakfast in my life.
