I am addicted to there jericalla custard. It’s less sweet than flan and a bit more firm than crème brûlée. There flan is also good but the jericalla is my favorite. It’s also difficult to find so when I saw that they made that I can’t stay away. The store is clean and the cashiers are helpful and friendly. They have a nice selection of baked goods and Mexican food also.

We went here for breakfast and ordered the El Jefe(a breakfast burrito loaded with just about everything) and it was ok. We also got two chicken verde enchiladas with a fried egg and pica de gallo on top and it was delicious! Highly recommend ordering this. Finally for«breakfast dessert» we got a soft apple turnover that we enjoyed on the beach and it was delightful with crispy crust and squishy innards.

I am so glad I found this spot a couple of years back. It’s so good! The burritos always are delicious and you can pick whatever you want to put in them, the have the basic chicken or carne asada with rice and beans and then you can add more to it. They also have different options but I have always had the burritos. They also have a great selection of breads and sweet breads. Always a stop when in carp!

Breakfast Quesadilla and Horchata… After I saw the Pacific for the first time after driving 3,500 miles after 2 broken down cars the JCB found this place… and never looked back.

Freshly made egg and chorizo burrito, for $ 3! These were $ 1.60 forever but they were on the small side and I’d get two. Now they’re bigger so, no need for two and I save 20 cents! The employees are always genuinely friendly here. Gotta love Carp!

I was delighted by the offerings at this lil bakery. I ordered a tamal plate — it was really dry and had a hair in it. Also, they hear them up in the microwave with the plastic wrap on it(cancer causing). The beans and rice were not worth getting other than the beans had a lot of liquid which took the dryness out of the tamal. The orange slice on the plate was well past its prime. The counter staff were young, sort of helpful but they never told me to have a seat — I wound up picking up the plate at the counter with other patrons hovering over the plate. I think I’d stick to pastries in the future.

I went here during avocado festival and was not impressed. First of all, the place was unbelievably hot inside and we had to sit outside at one of the two tables they had. I ordered a verde burrito and they gave me a red burrito. My mom ordered tacos that were 50% fat and flavorless with no salsa or anything. The burrito was not the worst burrito I’ve had, but nothing special. The cheese on top was half melted, half not. It also took forever to get this meal. I have no idea how this place has 4 stars. The only thing that looked good was their baked goods but I didn’t have them, so I can’t say anything.

Reynaldo’s bakery is amazing! Their customizable breakfast burritos are a must try, I’m not joking when I say I could eat these everyday! They’re always fresh, and even with a bunch of ingredients added, they’re never greasy. The pastries and salsa are excellent too. This is a hidden gem. Make sure to go before noon to get your breakfast burrito on!

Wanted to give this place a try. Ordered a few tamales that barely had any meat in them. And what Mexican restaurant doesn’t serve salsa? I even asked if I could buy salsa and they seemed confused that I would request that. Had to choke down the masa…

Reynaldo’s is a Carpinteria classic! Their burritos are big, authentic, and delicious. I recommend the tri-tip burrito — loads of meat and perfectly prepared! This is a very informal Mexican café’ where you order at the counter and they call your number when your order is ready. About a half dozen tables inside and 4 or 5 out on the sidewalk. Nothing fancy but their food is great. They also have a bakery counter where there is a good selection of traditional Mexican baked goodies including cookies, breads, and cakes. We always make a point to stop in for the burritos every time we visit Carp. Unfortunately, we rarely have room for dessert! Located right on Linden, the Main Street in Carpinteria. Finding a parking space can be a bit challenging — especially in the summer — but there is a public lot around the corner just a few blocks away. The staff is friendly, the salsa is very good, and it is a great place for authentic Mexican food for lunch on your day at the beach. Check the hours since they often close early!

This is the place for breakfast burritos! Awesome goodness like Joe’s favorite chile verde. Chorizo and egg burrito is delicious. I’ve been here several times and have not been disappointed yet. There are veggie burrito options for vegetarians. Quesadillas are so good. I don’t know what the deal is with European bakery part in the name. I didn’t see any strudel or poppy seed cake or anything that might belong in Solvang. So you need to dismiss that Euro part from your mind. Service is courteous and quick considering everything is made fresh for you when you order your custom burrito.

breakfast burrito are alright. I was looking forward from all the Unilocal hype… BUT nothing amazing. A plus is you can customize your burrito but they don’t load it up…1 pice of bacon, few beans, pinch of cheese, like half of an egg and to top it off small scoop of avocado! NEXT is a really bad thing to say but people need to know… I ordered a cannoli and cut it in half and there was mildew!!! I am a huge sweets person and the type to but 10 – 20 pastries/donuts but not here. I will never come back! The ladies working were really nice and friendly that’s where the 1 star comes from! not there fault there was mildew in my cannoli… All on the business owner!

I came here looking to try their tres leches cake for my wedding but when we got here their menu pulled us in. I tried their tamales however they are dry. Like really dry. The staff is young and seemed nice but like we stood there for 10 – 15 minutes waiting for our food. It would have been nice if they were like please take a seat we will bring you’re food when it’s ready. A bit overpriced and that tres leches I came here for was a little funky tasting.

Authentic Mexican food. I really like that they have to go breakfasts and homemade tamales and pastries. My personal favorite is rice pudding.

A couple years ago I stopped here with my family and was charmed by the glass cases filled with colorful«day of the dead» cookies, sweet pastries and various savory dishes. I ordered a chile relleno for lunch. It was good. When I came back to Carpenteria this summer my dad wanted to buy tamales for dinner one night, and I remembered the cases of savory Mexican dishes. We stopped by and ordered chicken and pork tamales in green sauce, vegetable tamales and tamales filled with green peppers and cheese, called«Rajas». We also picked up some roasted salsa and guacamole. It was all DELICIOUS. The Rajas tamales were my favorite, and the guacamole was better than homemade. This little bakery and takeout place is always jumping. With the reasonable prices and delicious food it’s easy to see why.

Dem tamales are really tasty. I was driving to LA from Santa Barbara and just pulled over to find something to eat. Man, I was super happy I found this place. Home style bakery, very quaint, lots of love put into the baked goods. The drinks not so much. So funny. I usually always comment on how horchata is just too sweet, but having horchata that wasn’t sweet mad me realize how much I really do need sweet horchata in my life. Maybe the machine was on too long and had too much water, who knows. I wouldn’t let that get on the way of eating some solid Mexican baked goods. Looking forward to trying the breakfast burritos the next time I pull over and can’t handle SB rush hour traffic.

The $ 2 breakfast burrito is a nice draw, for sure, but I was looking forward to some flavor. I ordered mine with extra salsa verde and chomped down only to find that there was zero salsa verde. The breakdown was probably 70% egg, 20% cheese, 10% zucchini. Great for scrambled egg lovers; not for me. And the flour tortilla was soft and bland, likely straight out of a bag from the grocery store. Sorry Carpinteria, I’m not trying to blow in from out of town and diss your local breakfast spot. I can’t honestly say that if I lived here I wouldn’t drop in often too. It’s certainly charming and full of friendly people and overflowing with newspapers to read and sweet pastries to whiff. But I would probably bring bottles of salsa verde with me and share them around.
