Collins Crossing

Based on my 1 year of living here…
Pros– Right on the J bus line and very convenient to UNC, downtown Carrboro, downtown Chapel Hill, and 54; cheap rent; friendly staff
Cons– So many insects (2 flea infestations-​and I don’t even have pets, roaches, centipedes, and flies); poor mail/​package service (if you aren’t home at the time of delivery they insist on making you pick it up at the Carrboro post office); low quality renovations (gaps in walls, holes for insects, cheap appliances); safety issues (multiple noise complaints for yelling/​debauchery, non-​residents hanging out late at night with drinks and loud music from cars, saw someone peeing right near the bus stop in broad daylight, my roommate’s car was hit by a drunk driver); really, really thin walls (I can hear the person above me using the restroom); complex is dirty and not managed well other than the front entrance (trash, roads are terrible)

Fairly new apartment complex just off of the main drag in Carborro. The apartments are spacious and carpeted throughout. Have a full size tennis court, pool and a half court basketball court!

I moved in right before school started last fall. The landscaping is great and the renovated apartments are awesome. I have so much room/​closet space, other then having a tiny sink, the bathroom is perfect. The staff is always more then accommodating, they are some of the nicest women ever. The prices are going up but still quite affordable and the best part is that you can have separate leases. I would definitely recommend this place.

I moved here last August, and I am very satisfied with this apartment. Before I signed the lease, I did hear some rumors about the safety issues here. However, none of them is true, according to my own experience. The community is improving everyday. I love the landscaping and the pretty pebble roads! Plus, people in the office are very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for UNC students. There are plenty of parking place (for free!), and a J bus stop is located right at the entrance. We have signed the lease for another year!

I have lived here since September 2013 and I love it. I was placed with a room mate and we get along well. Collins Crossing is still doing some renovations but I haven’t been inconvenienced. There is always plenty of parking in front of my building and I never hear any of my neighbors. Since we don’t have a fitness center, we were given access to O2 Fitness instead.
The office staff is wonderful, they know me by name and when they see me walking in, will go ahead and get any packages I might have. I have already renewed my lease for another year!

Love the apartment but safety is a big issue. I was out of town for a while and not only was my. car vandalized ($ 3000 worth of damage), but someone was using my bedroom as a crash pad. Came home to find wet spot on my. mattress, bedroom window open, used toothbrush on window sill etc. There were other signs that someone who had key access was in there. Was reported to management who tried to deny it was any of their staff but found out even the cable guy has keys to the apartment.
