A favorite place to eat for a special occasion! I have never been disappointed when spending an evening at Glasshalfull. The atmosphere is always pleasant and the service excellent. I’ve eaten wild boar, lamb and antelope which were all out of this world! And the desserts are wonderful as well. It’s not an inexpensive place to eat, but I have found that I’ve left happy with the experience.

Rounded up a couple of girlfriends to check out this wine bar and indulge in their half priced bottles of wine on Monday. They only take reservations for 6 or more people so we had to wait a bit for a table but not bad. Mariah was our server and she did a fantastic job taking care of us even though they were busy. They have a wonderful wine list with many types I’ve never tried before and since their bottles were half off we ordered a pinot nero to share. A nice bottle of red for $ 15, YESPLEASE! I spotted Pâté on their menu which I don’t normally see so we started with that. Good portion for the price and the accruements enhanced the flavor of the Pâté nicely(the black cherries were to die for). For dinner I went with the COCA; Crisp Spanish flatbread with caramelized onions, goat cheese, preserved figs, shallot, garlic, shiitake mushrooms, and arugula($ 12). To be honest, I wasn’t blown away with this dish but it wasn’t bad either. Very filling but the bread was a bit soggy. After all was said and done we agreed to return for their wine special and each order the Pâté for dinner.

Absolutely a fabulous place for a date, especially their small plates. We didn’t go that route, but that menu seems designed for romance. Killer dirty martini. And the crab mac and cheese, a dish of which I am a connoisseur, was the best I’ve had.

The cauliflower cake and Chardonnay flight made my girl’s night complete. More flights please! I’d love a Rosé flight or Malbec! Lots of delicious veggie options.

Excellent restaurant! They serve small portions to share! Great idea! The Brussels sprouts are amazing and the crab Mac and cheese too! The hamburger sliders were winners as well! Service is nice! Decoration is cool! Great for happy hour or for a dinner!

I’ve dined here twice while out on work trips. It is a solid choice if your dinner mates have food allergies or dietary restrictions with many gluten-free and vegetarian choices. I’ve tried the beet salad, crab macaroni and cheese, the pumpkin soup, and the yellowfin tuna. Of these, the pumpkin soup was the most memorable. The curry and coconut flavors were unexpectedly delicious. The crab macaroni and cheese was quite greasy and I wouldn’t recommend it, but maybe it was an off night because other reviewers seem to be fans. For being a wine bar, I was slightly disappointed with the priced-by-the-glass options available. Surprisingly slim pickings for the red selections. I did, however, really enjoy the pisco sour cocktail. I was intimidated by the use of egg whites in an alcoholic beverage, but it totally worked.

I really enjoy a good wine bar, one with a casual but memorable feel. Too often they tend towards pricy tapas and Prix fixe, reserved only for the greatest occasions. Glasshalffull charges typical prices for wines by the bottle or glass. Entrees can be steeply priced for the portion, vegetables and grains being more accurate than meat and seafood. That said the food quality is superb. I tried the duck conditions, skin crisped to perfection and with sour sweet pickled onions over bitter raddichio it was evenly balanced. The portion was good but certainly small. The crab Mac and cheese I’m told is outstanding, I haven’t had the pleasure myself. Service was good if abrupt. It’s definitely a glass half full experience. Perhaps mostly full. I’d enjoy a return visit.

So I would say this is a place to take special guest kind vibe. This is not a bar as deep with the beer selection, but does have a good wine selection. The ambiance is nice and staff is pretty friendly. Our server was fairly knowledgeable. My meal was very good but portion wise you will have to order more than the entrée to get full.

This is my third visit over the past couple months. Date night, business lunch, and birthday celebration were the occasions. Very consistent with food quality and service on all three visits. I really enjoy the atmosphere and seating options inside and outside. The menu selections are good, and the specials like the top rib-eye steak special always make it tough to decide what to order. We also really enjoy the appetizers; cheese plate, duck and chicken liver pâté, and olives are some of our favorites. My wife and I can make a meal on this part of the menu alone. The service is warm and inviting, but definitely not overbearing. We will be back and they definitely make my «Date Night spots worth a sitter» list. Enjoy!

I recently rediscovered Glasshalfull. I had gone several times while in college for special occasions and was under the impression that they were overpriced for what I got. It was good, but not for how much they wanted. I recently decided to give it another go after driving by and seeing their sign about lunch. I was very pleasantly surprised. The lunch specials were all under $ 10 and you could get a salad for about $ 4. I ended up getting the sliders and was blown away. They’re on par with Al’s Burger shack(though obviously smaller). Cooked to perfection and paired with delicous toppings, I had made a great choice. I’ve been back a few times since then, always for lunch. I’m happy with the variety and the price and plan to go back again.

Had dinner on a Saturday night here, expected it to be PACKED… and was not… was that a sign? The ambiance is nice and staff is pretty friendly. Our server was fairly knowledgeable, but missed the mark on a few dishes. Also, seemed to disappear for long periods and was no where to be found in the dinning room to get his attention if we needed something. 2 out of 3 dishes we ordered were quite good. 1. The appetizer COCA — we were a little surprised/concerned about the price of this App and din’t really know what to expect… than BAM! We were hit was crispy, delicious flavors, sweet figs, salty shallots and mushrooms, spicy arugula and garlic, which all came together in this perfect elegance! it was an A+. 2. The Beet and Kale Lasagna — I give it an A. It was unique, very tasty, cooked perfectly, nice textures and all the flavors of an «A”-dish. 3. The Mahi(Dolphin/Dolphinfish — Coryphaena hippurus) special of the day, was overcooked and under seasoned. I felt bad that a nice piece of fish was treated that way :(It’d give the fish a D-, however… I would give the vegetables that came along with it a solid B+. quite tasty and yummy! So, overall, the vegetables were not quite enough to save the dish… it was, unfortunately a C or C-. The prices seemed fair, maybe a touch over-priced. Nothing to write home about though. I’d go back and next time… order the Duck, Quail or Wild Boar to go along with the B&K lasagna and Coca.

This place delivers. The food is great. There is an excellent selection of wine. My wife and I ordered this. Barbara: Beet and Kale Lasagna appetizer Halibut Me: Crab mac and cheese scallops The Beet and Kale Lasagne is big and it is way good. B brought half home for lunch tomorrow. The crab mac and cheese is unctuous and bursts with cheesy delightfulness. No scrap remained uneaten. The halibut came with a medley of veggies that were perfectly complemented with an amazing sauce. The fish was succulent and cooked to perfection. The scallops came with a celestial purée of sweet potato and a relish of sweet pecans. Yumiferous! We ordered a French Rose to go with all of this that was tart, pleasing and an excellent counterpart to this celestial meal. Yeah, you want to go here… We shall return.

So I’ve dine at Glasshalffull for dinner, lunch and drinks and appetizers and each time has been phenomenal! The food has always been fresh, unique and delicious. The last time I dined here for lunch I had a potato latke«sandwich» which was so delicious and refreshing since their lunch menu is similar to their dinner menu and I was hoping to try something a bit different. I have also tried the mini lobster rolls, brussels sprouts, and charcuterie plate and loved these as well! Although I did want to make a quick note that the first time I had the brussels sprouts it was wonderful yet the second time around they were a bit more greasy. I’m just hoping that this was a fluke since everything else has been so delicious. But what sets Glasshalffull apart from other places is the quality of customer service, which has always been great each and every time I’ve visited. Additionally, they have a wine shop located inside where patrons can purchase a bottle of wine and have it with their meal at the additional cost of a cork fee(I believe it is either $ 8 or $ 10). I haven’t done this yet but have ordered off their wine list which I find to be a pretty diverse selection. But if you don’t agree with me, luckily they have a larger selection to choose from in their wine shop/retail store! They also serve craft beers on tap and I’ve seen that they have advertised their mojitos on the drink list, I’ll investigate this later! The atmosphere here is very laid back, with lots of light and space. I’ve enjoyed meals both inside and outside and as the summer weather is making its way back to Carrboro, I highly recommend their outdoor patio! Nothing beats enjoying the warm weather with delicious foods and a nice bottle of wine! The only drawback to Glasshalffull is that their prices are a bit steep compared to similar restaurants, however their customer service, tapas-style plates, variety of fresh and local foods as well as the option of their wines in their retail shop make it worth it in my opinion.

My husband and I came here for drinks and dinner on a whim after hearing about it from friends for the longest time. The food, the wine, the atmosphere, and the service were all excellent. It really is a great spot to relax on a Saturday night. For dinner we shared the chicken and duck liver pâté, mini lobster rolls, mini burgers, and crab mac and cheese. Of everything we had the lobster rolls were my favorite – the rolls were warm, soft and buttery and stuffed full of fresh lobster with just enough mayo to bring everything together. The crab mac and cheese was my least favorite. It was tasty and had massive amounts of crab, but it was just not sharp enough for my taste – maybe it needed a little more parmesan. It was the only dish we had that we both agreed we probably wouldn’t order again. I did love the little fingerling potato chips on top though – they were a really nice touch. Go ahead and try it yourself; I’m a little bit of a mac and cheese snob :). Anyway, we had a great time and really enjoyed our meal. We’ll definitely go back!

Glasshalfull is a wonderful example of a complete dinner experience. They have amazing food, service, and ambiance(the parking wasn’t a headache either!). We were a fairly large table and even though it was a later 7PM on a Saturday, the place was packed for the two hours we were there. The menu has a tapas feel, but it still worked well even when we all ordered our own entrees. I got the duck confit which was absolutely perfect. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat was moist and delicious. The sweet potato purée worked so well with the red cabbage and duck that I wanted a second plate! I can’t wait to go back to try a dessert!

Definitely on the list to go again! Loved the lightening/mood and overall design of the restaurant. Food is absolutely wonderful. I was there with a group of 9 people and got to try a various dishes. I personally got the Chicken and Lamb liver pâté. It was wonderful. Although it was a small dish, the spread was more than enough for the bread it came with. The waitress brought more bread after I finished my first bowl. Definitely a place to go with a group of people if you want to try bits and pieces of the small dishes. Best recommended with the many wine choices they have!

Phenomenal! My work team came here based on the Unilocal reviews and we absolutely love this place. Appetizers: The brussel sprouts and coca are a must; we usually order a few for the table and they’re empty by the time we leave. Entrees: Beet and Kale lasanga(5⁄5): good portion for dinner; this is a dish with tons of flavor. The beet and kale were a tasteful combination and even the meat eaters enjoyed it! Farmers market ratatouille(3⁄5): kind of bland and I just didn’t really like the taste of the dish — it was a marinara sauce base. Dessert: The dessert is always great. I’ve had a few bites of the apple tart and pumpkin spice cake. Drinks: The wine and beer options are vast. I’ve only tasted the house sangria which is wonderful.

Crab Mac and Cheese — 5⁄5. Definitely delicious and they didn’t skimp on the crap. To be honest, it was harder to find the pasta! However, this was a real cheesy mac and cheese, just the way I like it! None of that casserole with cheese sprinkled on top here: D Mini Lobster roll — 5⁄5. Overflowing with lobster, mixed with some mayo and celery on top of a warm buttery roll. Definitely would recommend this one! Chicken and Duck Liver Pâté — 3⁄5. Real thick and creamy, but definitely appreciated that the whole grain mustard, onions and cherries were served on the side. This was outside of my comfort zone and a gamble, but just wasn’t for me.

Came here based on Unilocal and TripAdvisor recommendations for a date night with the hubby. Absolutely love this place. The restaurant was extremely easy to find, right off the main road. Ample parking in front and around the side and back. Walked in, immediately greeted by the front personnel and seated without any wait; granted, it was about 6:30pm and ahead of the dinner rush — by the time we left, the place was very busy. The atmosphere was what i want to call«upscale industrial.» Mirrors, brick, unfinished wood laid the foundation, with clean modern furniture in the foreground. One can’t help but notice the abundant collection of French, Italian, etc. wines that lined the far right wall. Glasshalfull’s premise is smaller plated dishes, doing away with the traditional appetizer/entrée method. We started with some cocktails; very refreshing, and tried their blueberry salad and cucumber avocado soup. The blueberry salad was a fantastic medley of flavors, from the vinaigrette to the sweeter, subtle blueberries with a sharper feta cheese. They mixed wonderfully. The cucumber avocado soup, served cold, was also refreshing but not a fully satisfying flavor in my opinion. Additionally, we got the charcuterie, which was a mix of different cured meats served with a grain mustard, a fruit compote, and bread(Crostini). Incredible. The combination of each element put together was surprisingly delicious: salty meat, spicy(fantastic) mustard, sweet fruit… and texture-wise, you’ve got a smoother, creamier meat that was well-complemented by the harder crunch of the crostini. We then went with their«Fritto Misto» for the husband, essentially fried seafood/calamari style, which by itself and a spritz of lemon was light, crispy, and AMAZING. I had the 1855 Angus Skirt Steak, served medium — i don’t know what is in that demi-glacé, but that plus the shallot butter over the meat was just mouthwatering. I savored every bite, and it paired nicely with the glass of Malbec I had. This was definitely a treat for the palate. We had a great adventure of mixing flavors and elements together, really amplifying the overall flavor of the dishes. Though their servings are small(for the price), this was definitely not an endeavor of stuffing your face but rather an exploration of flavor. Not exactly an every night occurrence for our triple digit bill(for the two of us), but definitely a great date night locale with a pleasant, upscale, and romantic atmosphere.

So cute! Went last night for dinner and loved it! Started with Pinot noir and got the seafood charcuterie plate! It was a cute twist on the typical charcuterie. Smoked salmon and smoked bluefish with a delicious red onion jam. The scallops were also cooked perfectly! Also got the Bellini which was light and loved the fresh taste of the peach purée! Overall the service was amazing and everything was perfect! Wanted to try everything on the menu but had to resist! Cannot wait to go back!
