Such a cute place! I love the décor and casual feel to Cane Rosso. I also like that we were able to get a seat rather quickly on a Friday night. Let me start by saying this is a different style of pizza, it’s not comparable to fireside, dominos, or grimaldi’s. It’s a different concept as they only cook the pizza for a short amount of time. The ingredients always taste super fresh as well as the cheese. I like the tang of their sauce with olives. The pizza is floppy and is more fork appropriate that actually picking it up.(otherwise you lose all of your toppings in the process) My last visit was great. The waiter was on top of the drinks and had some great recommendations. This is a fairly quick dining experience if you are in a hurry, this could be your place.

Refreshing Neopolitan style pizza. Certainly not your traditional pizza restaurant. Service is pretty good and the pizza crust is amazing. However, I have to say that some of the staff wore t-shirts with the letters«PILF» on the front of their shirts; which, unless I am incorrect, is an abbreviation for something extremely crude and certainly not appropriate for a family friendly environment.

They get a star for making me a veggie sandwich out of season. However, it wasn’t that good and my other hates soggy pizza —though i think it is the style. I loved the crushed tomato flavor. As someone who has opened restaurants, its obvious the training staff is gone. Amateur service. She was nice but was aggravatingly slow and she joked how dead they were. everyone was on their phone. Even the pizza chef. No gloves.

Comment number 1. If you don’t like this pizza, if you think it is soggy, then you are probably one who thinks dominoes pizza is good. Comment number 2. This is authentic Neapolitan pizza and it is the best pizza I have had in the food wasteland of chain restaurants and barbecue that is Texas. Comment number 3. Just sayin’

I can’t recommend this place. Went on a Sunday, not very busy. Service was amature and slow. The pizza was soggy and I definately enjoy a crispy crust. The pizza lacked flavor even with adding hot peppers. Even the dessert pizza crust was too thin all the toppings just fell off. Waited forever for my drink which was not very good either. Sorry, No need to return here.

Absolutely delicious pizza!!! Finally after trying lots of «good New York style pizza» Cane Rosso is the real deal. Now their menu says that their pies AREN’T New York style but NY has more than one style and this place is Neapolitan! It’s got crispy slightly burnt edges and a soft & gooey center it’s easier to eat with a knife & fork but I picked mine up. Anyway, go there and order the Margherita or the Frankie they’re my two faves but discover your own… it’ll be easy b/c I’m sure they’re ALL delish! BTW the mista salad and the zeppoles will round out your meal, if you have room!

We went to Cane Rosso as a result of a bad experience in another Italian restaurant up the street and we now glad we went here instead. Though there was little wait for a table, the host was welcoming and offered for us to seat ourselves at the bar where you can actually get dinner. We started with a Burrata, a ball of mozzarella and served with friarielli, arugula and crostini. For pizza, we ordered The Emma which came in a soft crust with sausage, hand-crushed san marzanos, house-made mozzarella and basil. What a treat! Staff were very friendly and checked on us frequently even when the restaurant is quite full. We will be back!

My first visit to Cane Rosso was during lunch. I’m normally NOT a thin crust pizza kind of guy. However, this pizza is extremely fresh and very flavorful! I had the Luana pizza which had a spicy sausage that was excellent. My coworkers had the off menu Honey Bastard which they raved about. I guess I’ll have to order that next time as I am coming back! Overall I thought the meal was a bit on the pricey side. However, it’s a neat place. I’d really like to bring my dog and sit out on the patio this summer!

We are huge pizza fans. We are also huge fans of small businesses. We also happen to be Italian(well, my husband is; I married him for the last name so that I could claim Italian heritage of course). So, combine these things and it’s totally obvious that a legit Neapolitan pizza joint would be EXACTLY what our souls desire. Cue the happy dances when we found out a Cane Rosso had opened in Carrollton and we didn’t have to travel to Deep Ellum to indulge in our favorite pie! We visited for lunch on a week day; the place wasn’t very busy but they seemed to have quite a few to-go orders in addition to the folks who were dining in. Our appetizer was the focaccia bread, and we had the Zoli for our meal(friend had the Luana), and then we shared an order of Angioletti for dessert. The crust was just perfectly cooked; the toppings paired together perfectly, and we will be back many more times!

Food(5⁄5) Let me preface that I normally don’t enjoy eating pizza. It’s just not my favorite. But oh lord what I would do for Cane Rosso’s(not-so-secret-menu-item) Honey Bastard. This right here is my go-to pizza… OFALLTIME. Specializing in thin crusted Neapolitan-style pizza, Cane Rosso came up with this beautiful masterpiece: basil, soppressata(think like really yummy Italian thin-sliced salami), bacon marmalade(say whaaaaaat??), and honey jalapeño sauce(YASSS!!!) It is the perfect melding of sweet, salty, and a little kick of spicy. And THATDOUGH. Oh my god, that dough is so incredibly soft that I literally use it to mop up the remaining honey jalapeño sauce that drips off the pizza. If you end up having room after your pizza, I applaud you and recommend you take a peak at the dessert menu. Everything is good, but my favorites are the off-menu items: The Lady Bird(cookie butter, nutella, powdered sugar) or The Basic Bitch(cookie butter, pumpkin spice, and powdered sugar). See a common theme? *cough*COOKIEBUTTER*cough* Service(4⁄5) What’s great about Neapolitan style pizzas is they take 90 seconds flat to make, so your order doesn’t take long. The wait staff is also pretty attentive, so no complaints from me! Atmosphere(5⁄5) With 5 total DFW locations, Cane Rosso really picked a winner with this new downtown Carrollton location. Not only is it the closest to me(~10 minute drive), but it also features large, open spacing with a wood theme and plenty of seating. There’s also free parking! The dog-friendly patio is fantastic, and you can even book a private event room for larger parties at this location. Bottom Line For someone who doesn’t like pizza, this is the only pizza I will ever crave. Enough said.

In a nut shell: We will go back to try other menu items, I can definitely see the rating going up, but for now we are remaining at a three. If it’s traditional pizza you want this is NOT the place. We came in around 7:30 on a Wednesday(holiday weeknight) and got seated right away. By 7:30 there was around 20 people waiting to be seated. This place is popular! Everything we had was VERYFRESH and the Mozzarella, we were told, is made in house. We were told right from the get-go(as well as informed ON the menu) that this is not your typical pizza. If you are coming in thinking«traditional pizza» you WILLBEDISAPPOINTED! They have what the call«The Flop» as the center of the pizza is not firm in the slightest. The best way I have to describe it is imagine *a very fresh dinner roll* that was flattened out thin prior to cooking. You know how soft a dinner roll is? Well that is your pizza crust. I really enjoyed it and could see how people not ready for that could give this place a poorly written(skewed) review. One of the biggest downfalls was the first two beers my husband wanted form their menu, they were out of. With that said I could tell they take the quality of ingredients very seriously and for that I am a happy girl. The things I sis not like was the had«crushed» tomato sauce was missing the simplest ingredient of a pinch of salt. Salt would have magnified the flavor and my palate would have been one happy camper. There were two basil leaves on our pizza, which I enjoyed however I had to separate it myself to have some on each slice. So my big problem was the inconsistency of the pie itself. Imagine two basil leaves on your pie and having to split them, now imagine having to do that with the ricotta, sausage and Prosciutto. It was not well placed and the Prosciutto was added after the pie was cut so they were in large slices. Across two pieces of pie. The service person was nice enough and she recommended our meal when we were torn between dishes. We had… CARCIOFINI(APPETIZER) deep fried artichokes, calabrian chile aioli $ 8.00 THEBETTY(PIZZA) local sausage, prosciutto crudo, house-made mozzarella, ricotta, bolognese

I will admit it… I am not a pizza person. I want to be a pizza person, but I always find it lacking that special umami I think it should possess. Cane Rosso however, made me reevaluate my pizza relationship. Sure, I’ve heard all the hubbub over many years for the fresh ingredients and love they put into their pizza. I knew the original location in Deep Ellum has been acclaimed as the Best Pizza in Dallas 5 years running. For me, the Carrolton location lived up to the accolades of the original location. Upon our visit we were promptly greeted and sat. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and kept the delicious Iced Tea coming! But the food… the food is what really shines about this place. My only regret is that I couldn’t try the Caprese(served seasonally in the summer). We shared the Fried Artichokes with Aioli and the Capricciosa Pizza(Prosciutto, Mushrooms, Artichokes, Olives, House Made Mozzarella, and Basil). The Mozzarella is particularly fantastic. The Gentleman manning the Wood fire Pizza Oven brought our pizza directly from the oven to our table so it was as fresh as possible. We didn’t try the sandwiches, but I saw one being handed to another patron that looked amazing. I can’t wait to try to the pasta that is made fresh daily — drool! There were several drink options as well. They offered lots of Local Craft Brews in addition to the usual standard Mass Market Beers. They also have a respectable wine selection that will satisfy even the pickiest of your wineo friends with a wide assortment of varietals and price points. When you’re done indulging in the deliciousness, there are some really fantastic boutiques and antique stores in the area that are definitely worth checking out!

Waited 10 minutes, no service. Place less than 1⁄3 full. I would not recommend stopping in on a lunch break; not enough time for waiting around.

Tried the Honey Bastard and I loved it. Balance of the spicy bacon Marmelade with cheese and meat was excellent and full of flavor. The pizza itself was very good but I do prefer it to be a bit more crispy(it was a little soft for my taste). All in all an excellent experience and the waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, excellent customer service and I would come back to try more specialty pizzas.

Came here because my friend was raving about the honey bastard. And it did not disappoint! I love a good wood fire pizza. It was sweet but not too overly sweet. And who knew that honey would be good on pizza? Definitely a must try! We also got the OMB. The meat pizza, which was alright. I’ve had better«meat lovers» pizza. For desserts we got the lady bird I believe? It was a dessert pizza with mascarpone, Nutella & cookie butter, for a person who doesn’t like sweets(me) I enjoyed a slice of it. But two slices would be too much haha. I honestly wished you could choose the size of the dessert, cause it was way too much after we had already ordered two pizza for dinner. Nonetheless, the dessert pizza was good! We thought there would be a wait, but when we came in we got sat right away which was awesome. Although they were pretty busy even on a week night. The atmosphere of the place is pretty hip. Dining area, and a bar. They also allow dogs out on the patio :) Our server was nice, liked that they boxes everything for us. I definitely would come back to try their other pizzas!

I have spent hours thinking of how to write this phonetically for the average American English speaker… here goes Ca-neh Roh-so(both of those are silent H’s). I had no idea how badly people were mispronouncing this name, but it wasn’t until I visited the Carrollton location that I realized how alien the name, and the food inside seems to some of the lesser traveled Dallasites, or in this case Carrolltonians. I witnessed a group come in with a puzzled look on their face, asking what choices they had on crust, wether they could have Alfredo sauce, and if there was pepperoni.(*Tip* Peperoni in Italian just means peppers) Note to people not familiar with actual Italian food, you are here to try the original form of pizza, please enjoy the experience, and actually stick around to see what high quality flower, tomatoes, and cheese can do in a balanced proportion inside of a wood fired oven, and topped with high quality olive oil, and whatever you do don’t get up and leave for pizza hut like that group did. If you want over processed machine made low quality crust, with cheap cheese, and are too small minded to actually try something not only better tasting but better for you, then just don’t bother. Marco who is the head pizzaiolo here is a great guy, and on our first visit to this location offered us some pies on the house due to our order having been left out of the oven for too long after it was made, and thus having the unpleasant experience of getting served cooled down pizza. The free pies, and his conversation more than made up for it! Venite tutti quanti!

Visited for pups on the patio event and had high hopes based on other reviews. We got there before it was busy and sat on the large patio(it will be really nice patio once the building next door is finished but now when you look to the side you see mud and an unfinished building). Our waiter was spastic and possibly new. Again we were there before it was busy and placed our order about 6:05. We ordered the fried bread appetizer, veggie pizza and 2 alcoholic drinks. About 6:15 out pizza came out. Had not gotten our drinks or even water. Appetizer never showed up. About 6:25 we flagged down our waiter and asked about our drinks and if we could get water. He asked what our drinks were again and I’m pretty sure he never placed our drink order. 6:35 and still no drinks, not even water, or our appetizer. 6:45 flagged down our waiter again and asked about our drinks. He went and got us water, 40 minutes after ordering. 6:50 went to the bar and ordered drinks myself. 6:55 back to the table with drinks. Then asked again about our appetizer and it was brought about 7:00. Pizza was mediocre. I love wood fire pizza, but this was probably the worst I have ever had. Fried bread appetizer was not good either. We ate a couple bites of it. House wine was bad. My beer was good. Our waiter never came back again so we couldn’t get our bill. We hunted him down and just gave him some cash so we could get out of there. No plans to go back. Food not great and over priced. Service was terrible. I had high hopes so this was really sad and disappointing.

Cane Rosso is a restaurant that specializes in Neapolitan style pizza. The original location is located in Deep Ellum. And while the original location has a certain charm, the downtown Carrollton location has more parking, is not as busy, but still has the same awesome menu. My Overall Rating — 5 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Did you know that Carrollton has a down town area? It’s a small square filled with independent stores, an open plaza, and Babe’s Chicken. Well now it also has Cane Rosso. The extra area allows this location to include a sizable outdoor patio, a dedicated bar, and a separate dining room. They did a great job with the space. Just be careful crossing Broadway St. — it can get busy and you’ll feel like you’re playing human frogger. 1 Star. Service — The original Cane Rosso service was hit & miss, but this was partly because they were so busy. On our visit, the staff was awesome. The restaurant wasn’t extremely busy, and the staff treated us like we were the only customers. Attentive but not over bearing, our server was great in explaining the concept and the menu. Nothing but greatness. 1 Star. Food — The pizza is Neapolitan style. This is a thin crust pizza that is placed in a super-hot wood burning oven and cooks in seconds. The result is a firm outside with a softer middle. Some people don’t like this style but I love it. It allows the flavor of the ingredients stand out so you don’t get over powered with just cheese & crust flavor. Ingredients are fresh — I’ve a fan of simple pizzas like the Gus(sausage, mushrooms, and fresh mozzarella). But try a margherita and experience some of the freshest, best pizza in all of DfW. They also have a large menu of salads, sandwiches, and desserts. It’s best to go in a group so you can share the experience. 2 Stars. Will I Return? — Yes. The original location is further away, has less parking, and is busier. The downtown Carrollton location retains the same great menu but also makes it accessible to people who live outside of 635. No doubt I will be back. 1 Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

I’ve been to Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum several times. It’s my favorite wood-fired authentic Neapolitan pizza place in town. I’m glad they opened in Carrollton, which is pretty close to me. This location looks like other locations but roomier inside. It’s clean and good for a date kind of night. Honey bastard pizza was fantastic and s’more calzone was unbelievably delicious. Just reminding that honey bastard and honey badger are not on the menu, you just gotta ask them. Pizza came out really fast. We waited like just 5 minutes. Pizza dough was amazing, like super soft, and honey bastard sauce got a little sweet taste, which made the pizza taste even more DELISH! The price was a little high, $ 19 for honey bastard and $ 1 for adding jalapeño on our pizza. The pizza was big though. The pizza options are great and so desserts. I just can’t get enough of them! I know they’re still new. The service might be not the best. I will definitely be back and recommend you guys to give them a shot! :)

Food — 3.5 Service — 4 Value — 3 This new location for Cane Rosso is better than the Fairview location but not as good as the original in Deep Ellum. I tried the Cuban sandwich this time and it was a generous portion and came with a choice of salad. I felt it was a good value. My wife got some pizza and the two paired nicely with one another. Also, be sure to checkout the restroom doors — pretty cool for dog lovers.
