Carrollton Chopshop Sports Garage

Recently moved to Dallas from San Diego and was looking for a local place to grab a burger and a beer. Had a great first experience and continue to come back at least once a week… if not twice! You can’t beat their daily specials, especially with their half price burgers on Tuesdays! After working in bars for years, it takes quite a bit to impress me and this place exceeded any and all expectations that I had!

We went a couple weeks ago. No way man! All fried and not very good. Beer list was ok. The service wasn’t great either (Saturday dinner, not that busy). We live in Coppell, not worth the drive.

I don’t really write Unilocal reviews but I wanted to for the chopshop since we made it a «destination» on our trip. Wife and I went up to Dallas from Houston to tour around since we haven’t been yet. I wanted to check Brad’s shop and hopefully say Hi to Brad, but I wasn’t expecting him there on a Saturday night. The Shop is really well designed and a fun atmosphere, it’s basically designed as a garage with lots of pretty cool things to look at. We got the Onion rings, classic chop burger with the tater tots and the crispy green bean fries.
The green bean fries were excellent along with the tater tots. Onion rings were alright but tasted more like oil than anything else though very breaded and crispy. Can’t really complain honestly. The classic burger, The bun was tasty I do like my burgers well done, but this was pretty dry even more than what it usually well done. That was my only food complaint.
Service was really lackluster to be honest. We spent almost an hour there and most of that time was waiting for food, or our server to come back around. She had a good attitude but it looked like she was pretty busy and preoccupied trying to get to everyone. It took a long time to get a couple of food items, two of which were appetizers to begin with, having been in the service business I gained a lot of patience but even that was being a little tested. I can’t comment on their drinks since we didn’t get any.
Overall It was apretty good, fun, and clean environment to go to. I suggest it if anyone is around the area. Keep it up Brad.

This is one of my favorite places! The environment is fun, the staff is extremely awesome, and the food is phenomenal. I usually come in about 1 to 2 times a week and always enjoy it. I recommend this place to everyone I know. Best burgers I’ve ever had too!!!

One day I went in while it was practically empty and everyone was extremely nice and the staff seemed to really enjoy there customers and made good drinks then a week later I returned with about 7 friends or so and the staff was rude and unfriendly with an attitude. My first time I tipped like 60% which I’ll do on the occasion if I can see the service was good and the staff is hurting fit customers the second time I didn’t leave a tip at all

If you want a laid back bar to hang out at, this place is very laid back. Our service was top notch, and the staff was very friendly. Thanks to Unilocal,I was able to get an order of crispy green beans which were decent, just a little on the greasy side. Someone else ordered the Irish nachos which were fries with cheese and bacon, they were pretty good. I ended up ordering the cajun chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun with a side of tots. The chicken was flavored nicely, and it wasn’t too dry. This restaurant is mainly bar food, and it is not very diet friendly. The drinks are cheaper here as well!

Burgers awesome. Service was excellent enough said! Unilocal is telling me that I been to put more feedback. it is simple great service and the food was top notch! Is that enough for you Unilocal

I live up the street and I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to stop by.
I think it was because there were times I’ve driven by, and from the outside. it looked like a straight biker bar. (A bunch of bikers kickin it outside. Turn off).
This wasn’t the case tonight when I came in to grab a bite and watch MNF.
Tv’s everywhere, great draft beer system (front grill of a truck) with all Texas beers. (A Plus that they support local breweries)
Started off with the onion rings– in which for some reason, I was craving today.
They definitely satisfied my itch. Big, crispy, a hint of sweetness somewhere in that batter. Yeah, they were good.
Entrée; opted for Concourse sliders. You can definitely tell these aren’t frozen burgers. Like you’d get from the majority of bars. These were fresh. A little under seasoned, but nothing to complain about. Sweet potato fries, weren’t really sweet. A bit charred, but again. I’m not going to make a big fuss.
Washed it all down with a local TEXAS beer, Blood & Honey… My fave!
Overall, great experience. Definitely a place to come watch a game– BEWARE this is a Cowboys bar. And everything else Dallas (RAIDER NATION RIGHT HERE BABY! Lol)– Kick back a few beers and have a good time. Local spot indeed.

One of the many dfw bars which have Dallas Cowboys watch party. The paint on the wall says it all. It bleeds Dallas Cowboys. If ever you become hungry while you are hanging out in this place, get the burgers, they are fresh, good and on point. I had a mistake of ordering fish in chips and regret that decision right away But, the free fried green beans when you check-​in made it all better. HH prices are decent and on the weekend they have bands playing live music. From all my visits, the waitstaff has been very attentive. This bar will stay in my rotation.

Ok service. Small selection of beers. Cool to watch the game at of you sit at the bar. Not much else to it

I went in today for the first time. It was crowded with Bogus Boys fans. However, my buddy and I found a table and were able to find the NFL game we were interested in. They have a ton of TVs and it is not too loud in there.
My buddy had a few beers. They have a great selection of beer. He also ordered some of their wings. The wings were really good.
I ordered some sliders. You get two sliders and a huge basket of tater tots for $ 7.50. The meat on the sliders was very tasty. I was pleasantly surprised. The tater tots were so good, my buddy ordered another basket.
Our waitress was really good. She checked on us regularly. I never had to ask for a refill.
The only knock is that the stools we were sitting on are made of this steel mesh. On the edge of the seat there are some rough edges that need to be sanded down with a file. My $ 80 Tommy Bahama shorts got ripped.
Overall it was a great experience.

I’ll give it 3 starts only because my beer never became below half way before our waitress asked if i’d like another. That’s a plus on my end! I have a set tip in mind when i walk in and if my dink goes below half or even empty i deduct. maybe i’m old school. But ive been in the restaurant business and i know both sides of the table.
The food was okay, nothing spectacular, but not horrible.
Beer was cold; that’s always a must have.
It just seemed a little pricey for what we got.

Met family here for a bite to eat and had high expectations for a good spot in Carrollton. Its located in a nice corner of a shopping center with a big patio area,
Décor was ok and kind of typical bar, tables, and tv’s and hoods of cars for the chop shop theme.
Sadly that was as good as it got, the Shiner me and my nephew ordered tasted flat, and my niece (18 months old) waited 15 minutes for a lemonade. We ordered their signature burger medium with tots all of which were over cooked and not good.
Nothing special that needs a repeat visit.

Been back on 4 additional visits. Holy hell. This place has got their sh* together. They also have the CLEANEST BATHROOMS this side of DF-​Dub!!! OmG!!!

Four stars is fair. Their beer selection sucks, but they had blood and honey. It’s priced fairly, lots of tvs, good mix of race and age.
I’d come here again.

I have eaten good and great burgers from a few similar restaurants. Most have the usual gimmicks but their food never lives up to its billing.
Not so with chopshop. They’re consumer friendly and their burgers are always above average. The options of fries and tater tots or waffle fries offers a nice exchange as opposed to competitors.
The drinks are good and at a good price versus value. I prefer the mules and proves to be worth its signature.
No it’s not Houston’s. But it deserves 5stars because of the flavor: ambience:value ratio.

but hey… why not! i decided to try this spot out based off of fellow Unilocaler (ViJay K’s) review. I just wanted to go have a few drinks and chill. I walked in on a Sunday around 7pmish. It wasn’t packed but it was a nice crowd and pretty rowdy… not sure if it was due to the games they were watching or the alcohol they had LOL
I parked it at the bar and just browsed the place waiting on a bartender to come over. The young man that came over talked me into trying a Moscow Mule. It was pretty decent… but ginger is truly an acquired taste… ugh! LOL i did have 2 of them lol… then i tried another house made drink that was pretty tasty… can’t remember what it was LOL
after those… i went back to old faithful! overall the environment and staff will make you want to keep coming back here. i will try the food 1 day lol they have great daily specials and happy hour specials. since i live in the area… I WILL BE BACK! LOL

5 stars for the awesome burgers and our wait staff which was excellent!
The knock in the rating is because of the fact that no one seemed bother by another customer having a dog running around inside. One waitress even picked up the puppy and was playing with it and then went back to work without washing her hands.

I think this bar is pretty cool. It’s a cowboy watch bar, so that’s probably when you’ll find a nice sized crowd of folks. The service has been on point each visit! I can tell they put a lot of love into their burgers. The bun carries a Chop Shop brand and is substantial enough to hold everything together & the burger patty is moist and flavorful. Oh, but the pickles and the spicy bacon!!! Trust me! Get some extra pickles and add bacon to your burger, if it doesn’t come with it. The tempura green beans are great, as well. They give you a free order of them, if you check in on Unilocal.It’s how they get you hooked, ya know? The waffle fries are waffles fries. They’re fine on their own and better with the spicy ketchup. The mules are good and the moonshine margarita is, too. Just sip it slowly, or be ready for a brain freeze.
The star is taken away because the ladies room needs some updating and tlc. Also, the silverware is just left in a wooden block at the table. Annnnddd… Because they never make my burger to the temp requested. It always has been well done. It’s still delicious, but I just feel they shouldn’t even ask me how I’d like it, if they only make it well done.

I must say I had driven past this place plenty of times. I always thought it was an auto store with the whole Chopshop deal. But I was invited here and low and behold found out it was actually a sports bar/​garage.
The décor is comfortable, clean and welcoming.
The food was wonderful. We started off with the Firestone shrimp as an appetizer. I think that’s the name. They were like popcorn shrimp that were pleasingly fried — not greasy, a nice texture, well-​seasoned though not fiery as the name implied. The dipping sauce was niiiice.
For dinner, we settled on burgers. Their burgers are made with Angus beef. I had the Straight Pipe named one. It was a big-​mouth burger. But it was clean. It was not a sloppy, greasy burger and the burger was cooked to order as ordered and nicely assembled. I went with a side salad in lieu of the fries. The salad was a fresh and crisp-​looking side salad.
I did try their waffle fries and they were nice. Certainly an option when I return.
The only bummer was the dessert. I went with the brownie and while it arrived warm and with good presentation, it was a little hard for my liking. I like my brownies warm and gooey and this one was not hitting the spot. Of course I finished it, I mean if you know me, you know I don’t waste food. I just wouldn’t order it again. I love a good finish but maybe next time.
Their drinks were nice. We had some Mules. It was the nightly drink special.
I will definitely return. This was a nice surprise. Oh and our waitress was great too! I cannot remember her name but thanks for such great service — very patient and accommodating.
