This little hidden gem is tucked away in a shopping center in Carrollton. Upon opening the door we were greeted with warm sunny vanilla and robust flavors! Really love that they have authentic Cuban coffee. Blows Starbucks out the water!

I absolutely adore this place. Everything I’ve eaten(sandwiches and bakery items) are delicious. Thy make the best café con leches(latte) in the north Dallas area. I would recommend trying the caramel meringues(meringue con dulce de leches). The new location in the Downton square has more seating and a more vintage atmosphere with the same amazing items.

Omg I love this place! Best café con leche! And I used to work at Starbucks. The one here is not bitter. It’s smooth and when he steams the milk, he feels the temp on the outside of the jug. He doesn’t use the temp stick. He stops when it’s just right. And it’s not scalding hot or burnt milk. I get it with reg sugar. So I think it’s slightly sweet. Not over powering. The thing that brings me here though are the guava and cheese pastries. I like the coconut one too. But def the guava takes the cake! The place is small with just 5 tables. Really it’s more walk in, order your pastries and then leave. I am curious about the sandwiches and would like to come back and try their Cuban sandwiches. Next time…

First time trying this place and I’m hooked. All those positive reviews definitely validate it. Their Cubano sandwich is just bursting with flavor and their Guava and Cheese pastry is a must!!! Definitely adding this place to my «go-tos.» It’s about a 20 minute drive from me but totally worth it!

Oooohhhh My. Stop reading and go eat here now. Right now. I lived in South Florida for years and enjoyed authentic Cuban food & coffee frequently and this place is dead on. This is the first place in Texas I’ve found that makes real Cuban coffee(brewed with sugar). I had the Guava & cheese pastry, it was heaven. My SO had one of the sandwiches & a croquette and he said it was authentic as well.

My fiancé, who is originally from Cuba, and I made a special trip to this dulceria during a recent stay in Dallas, and we were not disappointed. It’s tough to find authentic Cuban food, but Cuban Dulceria International Bakery really delivers. We tried the pasteles de guayava y queso(guava and cheese pastries) and were in heaven. The pastries are light and flaky with a true guava filling — delicious! The café con leche was good and strong, but it could have used a little extra sugar and salt to be a true café con leche like we remember. Overall, the service is pleasant and prompt; the space is small but accommodating; and the price is right. We bought a box of pastries to go and will be back soon!

Such a hidden gem in the middle of Carrollton. I’ve told everyone about it on Facebook too. Even had some Cuban friends who had no idea about this place, and they are eager to visit. I do not eat pork, but I have a huge sweet tooth. So I love their guava and cheese pastries and the Napoleon custard bars. Soo good, it’s making me hungry again just writing this.

The good — the guava and cheese pastry was truly excellent, the Cuban espresso is worth a trip back on its own, and the sandwich ingredients were very good. The service was friendly. The OK — the atmosphere was OK. Of course, I wasn’t expecting a white tablecloth refined atmosphere. It’s mostly a bakery, and it has a functional atmosphere. The not so good — as far as I could tell, neither of our sandwiches had been pressed in a plancha. The bread was soft and fluffy and tall. This is a major fail. Other reviews talk about their sandwiches being pressed, so I’m confused. Was it an off day for the cook? Were they in a hurry and forgot? Had they not finished training the new guy? Did they ask me if I wanted it pressed and I answered wrong? Do they just not press the sandwich? Whatever, the sandwich wasn’t very warm, and pressing it really is important. I’ll try them again and hope to give them a better score then.

This place was freaking delicious! We had the Cuban, but I enjoyed the beef sandwich more. Also, the pastries were very very good, I especially liked the cheese pastry(I ate the whole thing after I had coffee and a whole sandwich), and the caramel meringue. Be sure to get the café con leche, which is sweetened coffee with milk. I’ll be back to try the rest!

Made a quick stop by this place for an El Cubano sandwich and a guava & cheese pastry. I got it to go, so I waited about 5 – 10 minutes for it to be made. It was warm and satisfying. I’m not a fan of mustard, so I got it without and it was still pretty tasty. I can’t say I’ve ever had a Cuban sandwich, so I can’t compare, but I liked it. The guava and cheese pastry was yummers too. Flaky with lots of guava goodness. Enough for me to drive back there? mmm… maybe.

Talk about a hidden gem. Im not sure what I can really say besides what others have said, but I’ll mention a few things. Im no help with the coffee part, cause I dont drink it. I ordered alot of food, and it didnt disappoint. Their cubanos are delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and well rounded. I was expecting the bread to be a bit crustier, but I didnt mind the soft, grilled cheese bread texture. I scarfed the sandwich down immediately and ran back to the counter to order dessert! I ordered some guava and cheese, ham and cheese, and meat pastries. All of them were delicious(especially the guava and cheese. I could have ate those till I puked). The meat filled ones were great, but they were PIPINGHOT. HOLYCRAPITBURNTTHEROOFOFMYMOUTH. I blame no one but myself, but please be careful with these. I also ordered these«candied horns». I wasn’t the biggest fan of them, but my friend really enjoyed them. They had this hard sugar shell outside, with this mild lemon crème in the center. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the fact that this place is open 9 – 5, closed on Sundays, and is a bit pricey. But every once in a while, I will probably come here(especially for some pastries).

Having been born and raised in Miami, i like to think I am qualified to have an opinion on Cuban food. These guys serve up an authentic cuban sandwich. The pork is tender and juicy, as it should be. Pastries are also on point. No frills here, just good food

My wife and I stumbled upon this gem today. We had a Cubano and two café cortados, a guava pastry, and a chocolate horn. Our Cuban sandwiches were made to order and were so delectable. The sandwich was hot, and toasty on the outside and gooey and delicious on the inside. The pastries were fresh and the balance of sweetness was perfect. We took a box of pastries to go, because we loved them so much. The coffee was robust, but so smooth. Best one we’ve had in a while. The owners were very kind and sweet. They made conversation with us when we were there. We can’t wait to make it part of our regular Saturday routine. Thank you for a great experience.

This is definitely a place that I wouldn’t have found without Unilocal.I was continuing my quest for good Cuban sandwiches, and I came across the International Bakery. Upon arriving, I see that it’s a very tiny place, with about five tables. It’s really primarily a bakery(hence the name, I suppose), but those delicacies(and they looked really good) would have to wait for another day. I ordered the standard Cuban(after finding out the that the fancier«Prepared Cuban» wasn’t available today), and my dining partner had a sandwich featuring ropa vieja(literally«old clothes»), a spicy and delicious stewed beef based dish. Both sandwiches were served on fresh and delicious Cuban bread, Mine had delicious shredded roast pork, ham, swiss cheese and pickles, and the lady taking our orders had asked if I wanted mustard(yes, please), so there was a nice layer of that as well. It tasted fabulous. The spice and seasoning were just right, the mustard wasn’t overpowering, and the bread was substantial yet very fresh. A wonderful sandwich. I also had to try a Café Cubano, but I asked for a little less sugar than usual, as I’m trying to watch the sugar intake. It was strong, roasty and delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness. It made a nice finish to the meal Definitely check the menu before you go; the actual savory food menu is quite limited, but if you’re in the mood for a Spanish/Cuban/Latin American influenced sandwich, this place might well be just what you want.

A dark brick strip mall conjures up dry real estate cubicles or perhaps a mom and pop flower shop specializing in arrangements for local suburban family occasions like mums and baby shower table settings. Smells of potpourri, new tires and fertilizer decanted the sterilized comfortable monotony of this more industrialized stretch of Josey Lane. Fittingly surreal, a Cuban bakery full of a variety of homemade goodies runs shop in a down to earth store that could easily be near some Latin beach. The guava cheese croissants were spot on, fresh and tasty. The myriad of items in the case, along with the lunch menu made me want to go hog wild. Luckily for my waistline this little shop is so far out of my downtown based trajectory, that I’ll save it for a special morning breakfast whenever I need a special lift, like a hug from mom. Desserts and sandwiches Outdoor seating offers parking lot views and open green plots across the street awaiting construction. If you close you’re eyes you might can feel an ocean breeze.

Such a small shop… but a cute one, nevertheless, and with a pretty big menu consisting of mostly pastries, sandwiches, and the fabled Cuban coffee. There’s seating inside and outside. The service also was friendly — the person who took our order was a nice girl from Mexico City, and she was well educated about Cuban things, thanks to the Cuban family that runs the shop(and yes, they were there too, working in the back) when I was there in the morning. The guava pastry and the cream cheese pastry(pastelito de guayaba y pastelito de queso) were both flakey and surprisingly one of the best I’ve had — dare I say it, better than several Cuban bakeries I tried in South Florida. I certainly didn’t expect this type of caliber in Texas, and in the far-flung suburbia, on top of that. They also have the savory pastries such as papas rellenas(fried potato balls filled with ground beef), pastelitos with beef or ham & cheese, and ham croquetas(croquettes). If this place grows bigger, I hope that the selection will grow as well, to maybe eventually match the selection found in Porto’s bakeries in Los Angeles or Versailles bakery(or Latin American, Ricky’s, Vicky’s, or Karla bakeries) in Miami, serving more pastries with chorizo, chicken and even croquetas of other types, such as spinach, cod(bacalao), and even sweet pastries like mango or passion fruit mousse, and flans(diplomatico, de queso, tocino del cielo, etc). But, this being Dallas, everything not-Mexican is needing to be taken in baby steps. And this baby step forward is quite a big one, and at least there’s no authenticity being lost here at all — which is quite rare in a city like Dallas. The coffee also was perfectly made, and satiated every fiber of desire for Miami that I had in me — it was bold and strong, and ready to give you a warm, bitter, and yet sweet jolt like a good Cuban should to his vintage Ford! California’s Gavina brand of Cuban coffee they use isn’t as well known as its sister company, Café La Llave, in Cuban Florida, but I’m not holding it against them, especially since I’m also aware that the Cuban bakeries have a strong following in Los Angeles, thanks to Porto’s Cuban bakery chain. And I have to admit that the Gavina brand works just as good as, if not better than, Bustelo, Pilon, Caracolillo and any other Cuban brands of coffee. I am also happy to see that they have Cuban sandwiches. For me, that won’t be the main draw of this place since sandwiches, and even Cuban ones, are much easier to find. But nevertheless, for a touch of authenticity and taste of Cuban Miami(or Tampa, considering that they have the Ybor City Cuban Sandwich — with mortadella and pickles), I would definitely consider stopping by here even for the sandwiches. Only one negative… they’re closed on Sundays. And another negative… it’s not everywhere in Dallas. Yet. Easy 5 stars — especially for Dallas.

300th Review! I love cuban food. I love cuban bakeries. My most recent trip to Miami made me miss cuban food even more. Ever since I’ve been wanting a cuban sandwich and guava pastries. I bought guava marmalade at Kroger, but it’s not the same. I keep dreaming about guava! Ugh, lol. I’ve had IB bookmarked for a long time now. I checked out their website and you can order the pastries online! I was tempted too. Unfortunately, Fort Worth doesn’t have cuban food or cuban pastries so I have to drive to Carrollton. It’s cool though, I don’t mind driving for some good food. Three friends checked in to IB this week and that didn’t help my craving. So to get these damn guava pastries out of my head, I made the journey to Carrollton this morning. I am approximately 56 minutes from IB! I got there at 10:30 and 5 people are in front of me. I order 4 guava pastries and 4 guava and cheese. No, I’m not eating them all 8 by myself. I will probably eat one(or 2) because I’m trying to watch my figure you know. My grandma loves guava pastries as well and stays up all night and snacks. I also got a Café Con Leche and 2 midnight sandwiches, Midnight sandwiches are like a cuban sandwich, but not on cuban bread. The sandwiches are for dinner. The kids got a vanilla cupcake and a chocolate cupcake to keep them occupied while we wait for the pastries and sandwiches. The sandwiches were pretty good. The pastries are yummy and flaky. I even liked the kid’s cupcakes! It definitely hit the spot and my guava pastry craving. I would drive 56 minutes anytime to come back to IB. 4 – 5 stars for me. I’ll give it a 5 ladies and gents. It’s as good as it gets for Dallas.

My husband and I serendipitously ended up at this beautiful bakery. The minute we stepped in, it transformed us to a new place. Everything about the place, the ambience, food and music is very authentic. We ordered their Cuban sandwich, Cortadito, pineapple pastry and flan. Along with the order, the host got us a Guava-cheese pastry(on the house) and said it was their most popular pastry. And boy! It was just delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness and flakiness! The sandwich, coffee and this pastry hit the spot, and have already made us big fans of the place. Add to it the gracious host and the attentive staff and you have all the reasons to visit this lil gem of a place.

This is a great hole in the wall. I’ve heard so many good things about this place through my Unilocal buddies. Finally, I got to try them. My Unilocal buddies are right, this place is good. We got there around lunch time, so I decided to get the Cuban sandwich. I have to say, it wasn’t my fav. I still think the Cuban at Uncle Über’s is better. What got me by surprise is everything else here. Seriously, everything we got was delicious. The savory pastries with meat was delicious. The potato ball with meat was delicious. The guava with cheese and cheese pastries were delicious. I got so much pastries that I don’t even remember anymore, but they were delicious. You get the point. This place is good and they deserve the rave. They ran out on some stuff I wanted to try, so next time I’m gonna get there early.
