This place was ok. I got the pork plate w/two sides(stew and fries). The portion of bbq was small and the stew wasn’t any good. I think it was supposed to be Brunswick Stew. I’ve driven by this place quite a few times and maybe I was just there at the wrong time. This place could do better.

I so wanted to like this place oh so badly, and what a let-down! I have been in this spontaneous kick lately, and I decided to swing by. I have been driving on this stretch of highway for years, and I have seen this joint last for oh so long… plus, they enticed me with this 2 pork sammiches for 5.50! haha. cant pass that! At first, it looked promising since it has the typical«symptoms» of a good bbQ joint: the chalkboard, it felt like a small log cabin, obviously family owned, and the big honking metal smoker constantly billowing this hickory scent in the air. The first thing I thought was odd is that I had ordered to go at the counter with a credit card and immediately, the cashier asks if I would like cash back to leave as a tip. I am all for leaving tips, but if I’m ordering 2 sandwhiches to go, please do not ask me for a tip. It was awkward, but all in all, the cashier was a sweet girl. And i got the sandwhich. I was starving so the first two bites seemed impressive, then I got to the third and realized how dry it was! I couldnt believe it! I wondered if they forgot to put sauce in it? I know it is smoked but it was dried as well? No moisture whatsoever! And quite chewy. I had some left over bbq sauce from my trip to Hudson’s in Dville the other day, and I drove as fast as I could home and dipped their sandwhich in that sauce. Only by then was it salvageable. Oh, what a disappointment! I doubt I will come back.
