I want to give them 5 stars, but Soon Dae soup didn’t have enough soon dae. I wish they put a little more soon dae there. Otherwise, this is a great place. Clean, self-service and their both radish and cabbage kimchi is fantastic. This is a must go place during winter to enjoy all different types of hot soup.

Tried chapsal soondae to go. First of all, I was very impressed with their to go packaging. It was completely sealed so I didn’t have to worry about the smell in the car or spilling. Gave us small pack of kimchi as well that was air tight sealed. Warmed up with microwave to eat hours later and it still tasted good. Will definitely go again!

I’ve tried this place twice before I left a review just so that my opinions weren’t skewed by one visit. I have to say, that both experiences seem to be identical. The food here is okay, but the portions seem to be inconsistent. It also comes with only two side dishes, which happen to be two types of kimchi. Only the Kakdoogi kimchi was enjoyable on my part. I got the«Galbi Tang», which is a traditional Beef Rib Soup. The broth is amazing and the meat was deliciously tender. The only problem I had was that it came with only 3 small pieces of the rib. I expect Kalbi Tang to usually have a good amount of Kalbi, so I was pretty disappointed with the portion. My girlfriend had the Nangmyeon which is a chilled noodle mixed with a sauce and a cold broth. It tasted average at best. And finally my sister got what their name suggests them to be know for which is the soon dae. My sister got the Soon Dae Bokeum or «Stir Fried Soon Dae», and I have to say I’ve had much better. It lacked flavor and depth and the portion of Soon Dae was disappointing. The final complaint I have about this place is the price. Your average bowl of Galbi Tang should be no more than $ 8. Too charge $ 12 for 3 pieces of Galbi is just straight up robbery. The service is super friendly and fast, but the food isn’t up to par with the competition around the area. I most likely won’t be back.

Cold noodles dish was the bomb! $ 8! So tasty and refreshing! Cute modern Korean restaurant. Near fox hair and across the street from the 7⁄11 near Hmart in Carrollton. Nice staff. Banchan was good! Great kimchi and pickled daikon radish side dish! Huge! Sign outside says«korean kitchen» but the rest is in korean letters. Bulgolgi n rice was good. Cold noodle was better!

The soondae guk was so good that I made a Unilocal account just to post this review! If you’re not afraid to try some really genuine, traditional Korean food, you should definitely come here. I first tried Moobongri when I visited L.A. last year and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was one opening in Dallas. The broth is super rich and comes out boiling hot(you’re not eating Korean food right unless you burn your tongue). The portions themselves are huge and they don’t skimp on the soondae either. The soondae noodles have a nice, chewy texture and don’t just fall apart in the mouth. My wife is not a huge fan of soondae, so she got the bibim-myun, which is great in this hot weather. P. S. Kimchi is sooo good, it’s like its own dish. I even asked for a little extra to take home and they vacuum seal it in a container on the spot for you.

Tried this place yesterday since one of my favorite Korean food is soondae. This place only serves soondae dishes in forms of steamed or soup. Although there are other Korean places that have soondae on their menus, this place specializes in soondae. We ordered a combination sampler($ 23) and soup($ 10) so we can try pretty much all their food. Combo plate is well more than enough to feed 3 – 4 adults. It comes with two varieties of soondae, traditional and veggies, along with all the inners like intestines, liver, stomach and«head meat» served with two dipping sauces of shrimp and salt. They were all good although I think they should’ve been hotter. It was just warm. I could have asked to be steamed hotter but knowing how crazy it is for a new restaurant to work out the operations at the beginning I was fine with it.(Minus 1-star). Soondae soup was served hot as it should be. It had all the usual ingredients like soondae and inners. You have to flavor it with green onion, sesame seeds, salted shrimp sauce and dadaeghie(pepper paste mix for brothy soups). DONOT use salt to flavor your soup. This is where one separates traditionalist vs rookies. Koreans use shrimp sauce to neutralize pork taste. This is an insider info so use it wisely. So back to the soup. Put some rice in the soup to mix it up and dunk your choice of kimchi(radish/cabbage). You scoop up little bit of rice, inners and kimchi with your spoon. Open wide! Mix of creamy broth, irony & chewy inners and funky kimchi is a perfection! To sum it up, food is original and authentic. This place needs little time to work out the kinks with all their menus(like serving temperature) but overall I would go back and try it again. It’s fairly new(less than a month). I’m really encouraged by new Korean restaurants popping up lately that are specializing in one specific dish like this one. Try it for yourself before relying on reviews like mine or any others on this place.

I have never given a Korean restaurant a one-star review but there is always a first and this place is going to be it. The service was terrible. It took them 20 minutes to prepare our food when we were the only table there and ordered only 2 things. The food was awful to say the least. The soup broth seemed to have been made with milk to make it that color because it did not have a thick broth flavor. The food we had at the restaurant tasted bad but at least it didn’t make us sick. We to-go’ed $ 50 worth of the«Modum Soondae» and it made my entire family sick with diarrhea.
