Apparently this place doesn’t exist anymore? I called the number that was listed under their Unilocal profile because I just couldn’t find the location today(after driving around the whole H-MART complex). A lady answered and turns out that, that number is now OMI’s Korean bbq. She had no idea why that number was listed and for a sec, had no idea what Orum was. So ODD! Please update or close your Unilocal listing.

I went to this place for lunch and was terribly disappointed. The service was slow, and the food was just OK. Worst of all, they only had ONE kimchi dish, while every other Korean restaurants give you at least 3 – 4 kimchi dishes, which is the main reason I love Korean restaurants. Will not come back or recommend.

We went around the H-mart complex, confused on which restaurant to try. We almost settled down on Gui Rock. There is a new one called Ossam(I think used to be Woo Gak), but I wasn’t sure if it were better than Omi. The chicken place(don’t know what it’s called) had closed down and replaced with another Korean BBQ place(the name of the business is in Korean). Anyway, I looked this restaurant up on Unilocal… it had 4 stars so I decided to peek inside. And yay… nobody in there… dead…so I figured they would have real fast service. Order Ddeokbokki, fried chicken wings with homemade sauce(taste like ketchup, no spicy at all), tempura udon, fried seaweed-rolled glass noodle, odaeng tang(fish paste with soup). Total about $ 34. All because I was craving Korean street snacks… these type of food aren’t served at traditional Korean restaurant. The tempura udon, really disappointed. Only one shrimp tempura was in the bowl. The veggie tempura and shrimp tempura were swimming in the broth, they were soggy and not tasty. Why they just didn’t separate the tempura from the broth, it beats me. The noodle was ok, the broth delicious. Ddeokbokki(hope I spelled it right) was really good… but for $ 7.99? I felt this place was overpriced. On the streets of Seoul you can get the same thing for $ 2… Same with odaeng tang… too pricy here at $ 7.99 or $ 8.99 Actually, all of these stuff, you can get them frozen at H=mart, bring them home and warm them up and they only cost half as much as in Orum. The chicken wings were really good… but 5 pieces for $ 5.99? Overall, I feel this place is too pricy. Snacks are supposed to be cheaper. I kept thinking, woah we spent $ 34 just for snacks… should have shelled out another $ 10 to get soon tofu jigae and bulgogi at Omi or Gui Rock.

I love their kimbap and order it every single time I come here. Like everyone else mentioned, its better to come here with a group of friends so you can order different snacks and share. I ordered their kim chee fried rice a couple of times and felt that it was too oily so I stopped. I have been wanting to try their kim chee egg rolls but they’re always out when I ask for an order. The prices are great so you won’t break the bank eating here. I love the fact that they are open late(until 2am) so it’s great for me when I have kimbap cravings late at night :) Btw: Their ramen must be good because BFF always orders the ramen. Or maybe she just likes how they serve it in a really cute little pot. ;)

Great new place we just discovered. Husband and I were initially heading to the No. 1 chicken place for Korean fried chicken, but made an early turn and Orum Korean Snack Bar caught my eye. I’d seen it a couple times before as I was leaving Hmart, but was always rushing home to refrigerate my groceries. It was dark and relatively empty as we entered, with only one other table of diners. Not sure of what to order, we got the fried dumplings, tempura udon, ddeokbokki, and fried chicken wings. They also brought out a side of kim chi. I soon found that I loved how empty the place was. Why? Welll, our food came out relatively fast and hot since there wasn’t anyone else to cook for! Score! Everything was delicious. The ddeokbokki had a great kick, but wasn’t ecxessively spicy. The fried dumplings were not what we expected. They were deep-fried in what seemed like spring-roll paper, and the inside had ground pork with thin Chinese noodles. They reminded me of Vietnamese egg rolls in a triangle-shape puff. They were surprisingly yummy! Chicken wings were battered and juicy, and served with homemade ketchup. The tempura udon was just typical. Overall, it was an inexpensive dinner and we will probably return. Next time, we’re bringing friends some can order more different stuff to try.

It was ok. Service is slow as other Unilocaler said. To me, food is over price for snack size. We’re the only table in the entire restaurant and we have to call them over for service. Don’t think I’ll go back again.

Still think DSS is the best for a decent Korean night bite but … this is closer to home so what can I say? …

Orum is different from your typical Korean BBQ or tofu place. There were definitely things on the menu that I had never heard of before — watch out, because the descriptions are not the most detailed/accurate. For example, the bulgogi fried rice is actually just rice with bulgogi on the side; it was good, just not what I expected. I ordered the combo with the spicy rice cakes and Korean style sushi. I always like the sushi, and this one did not disappoint. The rice cakes were spicy, so I wasn’t able to finish it. It was a really good amount of food for $ 8. They have a number of other combos, like udon with donkatsu(the fried pork cutlet) for around $ 11, and it’s enough food for two people. The seafood pancake is good too. They don’t give you many small dishes, like at typical Korean restaurants, but it was a different style, and it was an interesting place to try! I’d go back next time for a value meal when I was craving that Korean flavor.

This is a really good place to eat if you’re with a group. Split all the dishes, and you’ll be pretty satisfied/less broke than before. We walked in, and they kind of just sat us down in a booth. The booths have high seats, so you can’t see anyone else. The downside was that it felt like it took forever for a server to see us. The beef bulgogi fried rice was just beef bulgogi and steamed rice… cool. It was still tasty, so I didn’t mind. I would also suggest the seafood pancake. Overall, cheap and tasty. I’d like to give it another shot.

We came back for another late night snack, but my opinion is still the same. To clarify, the kimchi jjigae and a few other stews are $ 20 or more, but they do have other soups and ramen that are cheaper at under $ 10. But kimchi jjigae is one of my favorites, so I tend to look for that first, and I was disappointed to see that it costs so much here! We ordered the kimchi pancake again. The pancake is huge! It’s seriously the size of a small pizza, so it’s great for sharing! This time, the waitress asked if we wanted cheese. I’ve never had one with cheese before, so I said okay. It was topped with shredded mozzarella, which I ended up picking off and not eating! I thought it would compliment it, but it didn’t. The ramen also has a slice of American cheese on top, which was not appealing. Not sure what’s with all the cheese, but I prefer my Korean food without it! We also tried the spicy chicken wings, which came with dduk(rice cake) mixed in. Although the chicken had a good, crispy coating, the sauce was too thick and too sweet. The dduk was a nice addition, but it was a little on the hard side. For panchan, they served us kimchi, pickled radish, and seasoned tofu. For drinks, we were able to order the soju we wanted. Service seemed to be worse this time. I’m pretty sure they would have let us stay at the restaurant until they closed without checking in on us at all! At least we could eat and enjoy our time together without being bothered. At our last visit, they brought the receipt to our booth. But this time, the waitress just pointed to the front, indicating that we had to pay up there. Despite that, we would still come back since they are one of the few restaurants that are open late in this area, and they’re decent for a late night Korean food fix.

Have been here a few times for a midnight snack, each time trying something different. This place is just OK… I feel their concept and ideas are a success but the outcome does not meet the expectations of the descriptions. I got the ramen the first night thinking that because the price was around 5 bucks it would be somewhat different than what I would make at home. Unfortunately, the cheese that they add in there didnt do much for me. I wasnt impressed… just satisfied that something was in my stomach. The second time I tried a wide variety of stuff with the fam bam. The chol myun was way too spicy and the noodles were a lot thicker than I expected. This is a popular summer Korean dish that is known for the sweet spicy sauce and cold noodles for a refreshing taste. It unfortunately again, just fed my hunger. I’m very hard to please when it comes to the kimbap, just because the best I’ve had is at my own house from the hands of mama K. The kimbap here is again ok… nothing really that special. The chicken wings were decent but it had more of a sweet and sour Chinese type flavor rather than that kickin Korean taste. I determine this place as just so-so. I had good things to say about it but bad things about it as well. I’m sure I’ll be back randomly to cure my late night hunger so hopefully then I’ll be able to increase the stars of this place. Om nom nom! Korean food rocks my world! Hopefully soon I’ll be able to say om nom nom to you too Orum!

A good, solid korean snack restaurant. I went to this restaurant when it was in its cramped space, which was bad(the place, not the food). Then I ate the odaeng tang, kim bap, and dduk bok ee. I went again to the new location, and of course, the place is much better. We ordered dduk bok ee, kim bap, and k-pancakes. All were good! Next best thing to buying a $ 1800 ticket to Korea.

After feeling extremely hungry after a non satisfying meal at a local Chinese restaurant, I was ready to try out what Orum had to offer around 12AM that same night. I’ve been eying this place ever since they opened, and after countless suggestions and persuasion, my BF and his brothers gave in and we all went to have some late night snacks/fourth meal. Orum doesn’t even have a phone number listed online, and I had to pull some ninja skills and research the local Korean paper to find their number. It took google five minutes more than it should have, but all that effort and looking up if they were even open was all the more worth it when I had my first bite into their savory dishes. This location used to be Shogun, and I just think Orum probably bought the place and never really redecorated it. The space is spacious and nice, with ample room for small parties and even separate dining rooms for larger parties that may crave privacy. For five of us, we weren’t looking for a big meal but ended up ordering the following: kimchi eggrolls(recommended by Denise J!), kimchi fried rice, potato pancake, and cheese ddeokbokki. All, and when I say ALL, all dishes were fantastic! I hadn’t had cheese ddeokbokki since the last time I went to Japan(I know, out of all the places I say), and I say with great irony that the best Korean food I’ve had so far was in Japan(that will change once I hit Korea next year) this meal did not disappoint! The service was spectacular for a Korean restaurant(you had to wave them down but hey, it’s Asian) and the succulent taste and waves of ecstasy in my mouth was what I was craving for exactly at 12AM that night. I’m just upset that I hadn’t gone much earlier! The whole meal came out to be about $ 25 after tax, and with tip, it was about $ 6 per person. Way to go me for going for a cheap and fulfilling meal! They also gave us complimentary yam tempura with our meal, and needless to say. I am totally coming back.

Oh, what a strange night. It was almost 11pm and I’m craving some type of Korean food for cheap(and I’m pregnant so nobody dares to say no to me!) so my friends and I decide to go to Korean Town(H-Mart area) in Carrollton. Not very many restaurants were still open at this time so we decided to walk around and figure out the best option for us. We ended up outside of this place as the owner puts up a sign outside. We were talked into trying this place out with no knowledge of what a Korean Snack Bar is(honestly until now, I still am unsure). The place looked like a typical Korean restaurant. Booths with high dividers… Private rooms… A bar area from what I remember with flat screen TV’s. Their menu is very… small and limited. But some items I haven’t seen in other Korean Restaurants. They had different food on skewers, fried things, random meats and other Korean things that I was unfamiliar with. We ended up getting: Korean Pancakes:($ 6) They were good. Although it wasn’t what I expected, it was more like glutinous(like rice cakes) but salty. Strange but good. Spicy Pork:($ 10) It was a good amount of spicy where you can still taste the pork. The meat was of good quality, too! Not so fatty. Spicy Squid:($ 10) This was good as well. It’s not cooked in the same sauce as the spicy pork, this one is a bit sweeter and the squid pieces were pretty big and generous. Yum! Rice was $ 1 each cup… Not good for a rice monster like me. There were other things we wanted to try but us 3 were already quite full just with that! They also had bulgogi and bibimbap I believe in their menu, but only until 10pm. I think. Don’t quote me on that. The prices on their menu are pretty great!!! And the quality is absolutely worth the money. I am going to come back to try new items when I’m feeling more experimental. Best part about our visit is since they’re pretty new and they wanted us to come back and bring our friends, they only charged us 3 a total of $ 18 :)
